I would enjoy playing him at safety the next time we play Gronkowski.

I'm glad to hear somebody say that. Not just about the Bills, but about the league. They keep drafting really talented looking young guys, who almost always fail. And nobody much questions how good of a job teams are doing training them. I think it is a fair question and maybe it isn't always that there is just nobody who can do it.

Jordan Mailata in the seventh or as an undrafted. Australian giant, only 2, for the practice squad initially. Wants to be O-line and as it happens, we need O line.

Well, I was not fully awake but I know it wasn't a caller. As I recall it, it was on air talent repeating an idea that another commentator / reporter/ draft guy had said. Obviously I didn't check in to the contract and facts, I had assumed it was feasible. Which seems to have been a mistake. And some people aren't being very nice about it.

Baker Mayfield visit scheduled for April 10th -11th

More possibilities: "In Buffalo, we have a name for the sort of guys who have done the kind of things that you did. "The Quiet Type" -
Sorry I don't even remember who said this but on my ride to work this morning they talked about the idea. We have a zillion picks this year. And we have I think 70 million in cap room for next year. So they said one option would be to fix up the team with our draft, to make it a young, solid, attractive team. Then next year just outspend the Packers by whatever it takes, to get Aaron Rodgers. They haven't got the money to match us they said. I actually liked this idea. What do you guys think?

Say more about this please? I don't know about this. Does it mean he can retire, but until they officially release him in some way, they can't access his money? How come? Was the same true for Boldin?

Are We Losing The Off-Season?

The part I am worried about is it certainly seem like we don't have a good o-line. So if we a get QB, he will sustain injuries behind a bad line that will stay with him for his career. Also, he may be unable to develop the confidence he needs early on, which will ruin his career. See David Carr for one example. Luck may be another. Or, look at the horrible, horrible, bad mistake McDermott made with Peterman. That was BAD. I know everybody blames Peterman, and McD is teflon. But that was a VERY BAD mistake by McDermott. Peterman has a monkey on his back now. And sure everybody will say who cares? Hes a 5th round pick who sucks. Fine. Why take him at all then if you are just going to ruin him? So, a seemingly bad line, possible HUGE investment in a rookie QB, and a coach who did a VERY bad job bringing on a rookie QB just last season. Its a bad setup and it has me worried. -
Baker Mayfield in big game Vs Ohio State
BadLandsMeanie replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His receivers were wide open much of the time. BUT, the big deal to me was, on some plays, if his first option wasn't there, he knew where the other receivers were, in his head. It was, fist guy not open, oh, gotta escape, scramble, then look to a spot, not there, look to another, BOOM pass gone. He looked right where the guy should be without ever looking since the ball was snapped. That is a big deal to me. I was impressed. Ej couldn't do that and Tyrod couldn't do that. -

Are We Losing The Off-Season?

Good point. It is more than two. The thing is , the defensive players they brought in last did really well overall. The offensive ones didn't. Dawkins was their main claim to fame. And McD mishandled the offense as a whole. I will leave it at that, but it worries me. All I can say is I wouldn't know how to get out of the circumstance he is in now. I hope he does. -
Are We Losing The Off-Season?

Well maybe Wood was over rated. But I am not going by reputation. I watched I think it was 4 games on all 22. Over and over spending at least 3 hours per game. Granted it was only 4 games but in those 4 he and Incognito were hands down better than the other 3 starters. I don't think Groy played much so I can't say how he would compare. From what I watched though, "over rated" applies to Dawkins. He was adequate and not awful. But not the smashing success and upcoming star I read about. At least not yet and at least not to my eyes which are not expert. Dawkins is tough though that Bosa guy on the chargers poked Dawkins in the eye really bad (wasn't noticed by refs) (or reported in the news) and yet Dawkins didn't even miss one play to recover from it. -

Where will they get the money? My understanding is they have just a little more than it will cost to sign their draft picks. -

Making the case for Lamar Jackson
BadLandsMeanie replied to 502Buffs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe so. But at this point we have an offensive line featuring one player who might start on a normal team's line, and no receivers. Our choice might be between a running QB, and a dead one. -
Look at it this way. He doesn't want to live off his parents' money. The only way he can be as successful as his dad is to be a great QB and win a Superbowl. His father is a renowned surgeon. If Rosen tanks he will be "my son the jock" who peaked as UCLA QB. It may be a VERY strong motivation for him to avoid that.

New Era Draft Caps drop this Thursday

I like the Dawg Pound and the Vikes ones. -
Maybe it is nobody's fault, but I'm getting uneasy about this off-season so far. Eric Wood suddenly retired, then Zay Jones had a breakdown on film, now Incognito retired. So 2 of 11 starters on offense are gone and 1 is questionable. This is really bad luck. Next here are Sal C's main free agent needs prior to free agency starting: (http://www.wgr550.com/articles/opinion/capaccio-ranking-bills-five-biggest-needs-heading-free-agency) Defensive tackle, Linebacker, Wide receiver, Offensive line, Defensive end/Pass rusher. Of those 5, we addressed only Defensive tackle in a meaningful way. And then the needs got worse at offensive line and receiver. Setting the upcoming draft aside, it seems to me we got worse instead of better so far. What do you think?

Thanks for the thoughtful post racketmaster. I knew a lot of the information already because I have spent too much time reading up on these people. But I learned some too and you back up your opinions well. Don't worry about the ones who just stop in to say they didn't read it because it was too long.

I took him to mean that becoming a HOF guard was his remaining goal. So he was letting that go and retiring.
