  1. Fair enough. I’ll defer to McD. if they had the right play with the defensive “look” they expected, go for the two. (And they got it—I’m glad they did.) But “analytics” is an excuse—you coach the game you’re playing. The argument that “you know what you need” if you don’t get the two doesn’t hold water. Anyone who thought the Bills would get the ball twice and score twice was not watching the same game I was watching.
  2. The alternative is to kick the extra point and see if you can get one drive with about 3:30 left and need one drive (exactly what they got against the NFL’s best running offense) and a two-point at the end of the game. If they don’t get the two-point conversion with 7 minutes left, game over. I’m not complaining as much as I’m curious to see a reasonable explanation. Maybe you see what you got and when you use your timeouts earlier, but it still seems like a bad call.
  3. Ummmm. Actually, almost the exact opposite. If they kick the point, they’re down one TD and a two-point conversion. If they don’t get the two on that touchdown, they’re down two scores. I’m not sure what “offensive rhythm” we had there—it took three plays, two Ravens penalties, and a time out to punch it from the three. edit: You go for two when you absolutely need it—aka, the final TD.
  4. Going for two when down by nine with seven minutes left makes no sense to me. Hauschka was fine today. Why take yourself out of the game if you don’t get the two there? Maybe McD had already decided that we would go for two again and the win if we scored another TD. I don’t know. Does anyone have a reasonable reason why they would do that?
  5. I was thinking “that took the sails out of our wind’.” RIP Coach.
  6. Not to take anything away from Singletary, Milano, or Tre’, but watching Feliciano step up at center when Morse was sidelined made me feel good about this team.
  7. Welp. If ya “win ugly,” you’re probably gonna “lose ugly,” too. We get to see the latter today. I expect more of each.
  8. Right? Ya know, him being the OC and all, Daboll might want to rely on the other side of the ball—maybe the side for which he’s responsible.
  9. Cowboys! End this already!
  10. And “just like you.” The difference is that I know poor decision-making when I see it. That was the wrong decision. You know it but decided to call me out rather than admit it. McBeane has a good thing going, but Sean has to get out of his own way and make better decisions during the game. You know that. Don’t spend your time on me.
  11. C’mon now. I dont’t post much, but I appreciate how well you think you know me. ? Taking the field goal at that time was the right decision. You don’t make Matt Barkley have to zing something through a tight window. And no. I wouldn’t complain about McD’s decision-making if the Bills lost by three—I would have spent my time on Josh.?
  12. The pick challenge (and resulting loss of a time out) and the fourth down call are what baffle me. Then, you’re without timeouts with 3:30 and the ball at your own fifteen, manage to get the ball to their forty, and have to play panic ball because you don’t have a timeout!? Imagine if you had a time out and a 100-yard runner at the other team’s forty yard line, down by three, with your back-up QB and your D playing lights out. I’m no coach, but I know bad decisions. You play to win the game!
  13. You were right about the forward progression challenge—poor decision.
  14. Well, you’re one for three. That ain’t bad.?
  15. Bad. And may have cost the Bills a W. The offensive pass interference was a penalty but never should have been challenged, especially in light of Thursday night. And take the the field goal, for crying out loud! Who possibly trusts the back-up on fourth and goal from the four on his fifth play off the season. And I thought Josh was the one who was hit in the head.
  16. Agreed on all counts but the three points—a 47/48 yarder into that wind isn’t a gimmee.
  17. Gary Marangi says “yes.”
  18. Horrible play and I hope Taiwan is okay. But did I miss something or was that a great “heads up” play by Taiwan under the circumstances? I’ve been no big fan of Taiwan in the past, but assuming he’s okay, I’ll take him on my team over Vontae Davis any day—can he play CB?
  19. Go Bills!
  20. John Hannah! Sam “The Bam” Cunningham
  21. The guy gave his all as Bill—probably got his head knocked around. I give him a break when he seemes to not deliberately sound like a homer.
  22. What’s the “born on date”?
  23. Aaah, gotcha! You’re not saying that Buffalo’s culture is lame; rather, you’re saying that my interest in culture is lame. I’m sorry that I misunderstood. Obviously, I have a lot of soul-searching to do. In the meantime, if you know of a good divorce attorney, send me some contact info.
  24. Sorry for waiting so long; I'm more of a lurker here, but this has been bugging me for a couple days now . . . I'm not so sure I agree with your take on "culture.". When I grew up in Buffalo, I would have agreed. I just didn't think to look for it. Now that I'm living out of town and married to someone who enjoys art history and pretty much an old man, I've learned to disagree. If culture is your thing, here is a quick list: The Albright-Knox is a first-rate art museum, and the Buff State Gallery across the street is no slouch. In terms of architecture, Buffalo is a must-see for fans of turn-of-the-century stuff. The Ellicott Square building alone is a jaw-dropper when you first walk in, not to mention the Gauranty (sp?) Building, the Old Post Office, etc. We've splurged a couple times when visiting and stayed at the lofts above Pearl Street and the Hotel Lafayette and just walked around. As long as you're there, get to the observation deck of City Hall and get s super-cool look of how Olmstead laid out the city almost like bicycle spokes with parks and squares placed along each spoke. And stop at the council chamber on your way down; it will almost make you wanna run for city council just to hang in there once a week. I came close to dropping the cash for "Trailer Park Boys Live" at the Shae just to show my wife the inside of that place--we're still waiting on that. Nifty stuff. Heck, if you're at the Buffalo Zoo, see if you can get a quick tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin-Martin House. The short drive down Rt. 5 to GreyCliffe might be worth it . . . but last time I was there, they weren't done with the renovations. Buffalo also has a lot of Erie Canal related history, but it's not easy stuff to find. The new Teddy Roosevelt Inauguration House on Delaware is pretty cool. I haven't done it, but I've heard the grain silo tour is "meh." Check out Buffalo River Works for a taste of the silos and have a beer. Anyway, I'm not sure I would call Buffalo's culture lame, but I agree that the city doesn't do as much as it might to promote what it has.
  25. Did anyone not see this coming?
