It wasn't because he was getting the hang of the 3-4, it was because the quit using him in the 3-4. He played 4-3 end and did play much better the second half of the year.

I'm probably the biggest Brad Smith Fan on the board considering I was at Mizzou during all 4 years he was our QB but he threw some of the worst wounded ducks I've ever seen (in college anyway). His ball never had that much zip on it.

Honestly I wish we would fill areas of real need first but he's a playmaker and you can never have enough of them. My guess is they plan on expanding CJ's role in the offense a lot (duh) and don't want to risk injury to him in the return game. Brad Smith is a stand up guy, will be great in the locker room, and DYNAMIC in the return game. The fact that he didn't get voted into the Pro Bowl last year as a returner was a joke. I would love this signing for the mere fact that my sophomore year at Mizzou was when Brad came in single handedly changed the course of Mizzou football. He is my all time favorite Tiger. Guy is a class act and a Dynamic returner. That being said, we don't need him but what the hell.
