Who was the best NHL Enforcer of all time?
Taro T replied to Stl Bills's topic in Off the Wall Archives
And if he was lucky won every fourth fight or so. I would probably go with Kocur, Williams, and Churla although the guy with St. Louis that broke Rob Ray's face (IIRC, it was Twist) gets an honorable mention. I'd also give honorable mentions to Magnuson, the Plager brothers, Nilan, and Bugsy Watson. Other than Magnuson, I didn't include any guys like Gillies who could actually play hockey as well as goon it up. I also didn't include any guys from way back, but Shore, Howe, and Ferguson probably should be included in the discussion. -
Kurt's response back could be entertaining. I say post it. (So it's tied again, right?)
-
I wouldn't add Tasker to that list. The only reason Tasker was waived was the Oilers wanted to activate him from IR. The Oilers were NOT happy that the Bills "stole" him from them.

Happy birthday, AD. Same goes for you, dib.

I may have found the best website ever...

Close. They played for the team when it was in the WHA, so they played for the New England Whalers. Steve Carlson and David Hanson played for the Whalers. Jack Carlson also played with the Whalers but wasn't in the movie. Jeff Carlson, who was also in the movie, didn't make it past the IHL. The 4 of them all played for the Johnstown Jets. -
So, what, have you been going to your buddy Kurt's font of all knowledge to get your answer?

Natalie's going to be ticked.

Peter King predicting Bledsoe to backup Romo
Taro T replied to Taro T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, sounds like he's happy with Drew starting and wants a "veteran" in there. Looks like Buftex's call will be right. -
Maybe, but it's hard to get an ump to give you a time out when your runner is 40 ft off the base and the 3rd baseman still has the baseball.
-
Absolutely. But if a 10+ year veteran quarterback can forget that it's 4th down and throw the ball away, it's not terribly unimaginable that a 12 year old kid knowing that his team needs to score the "tying" runner ahead of him could forget that the play at 3rd was only the 2nd out. Hopefully, the kid has strong character because he'll definitely need it.

Short answer: because people are stupid. Slightly longer answer: because there are people that LOVE the idea of a conspiracy theory. There has to be a reason their own life isn't measuring up to what they had hoped it could / would be. If there's a conspiracy holding them down personally, it MUST be happening to others as well. Right? They watch "24" or "JFK" or whatever and instead of leaving with "that was entertaining" or "that was too far fetched to be entertaining" or something that indicates an understanding that what happens on TV and in movies is designed to be ENTERTAINING, not INFORMATIVE, they come away with "that could happen". Either that, or they are so full of a combination of hate and/or naivety and/or stupidity that they can't understand that George Bush wouldn't intentionally kill 1,000's of Americans and that Bill Clinton wouldn't intentionally kill 1,000's of Americans. FDR didn't intentionally let Pearl Harbor happen either, but I'm not positive you could convince the guy who started this thread.

Peter King predicting Bledsoe to backup Romo
Taro T replied to Taro T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it happens, it'll be real interesting watching essentially a rookie QB trying to keep Owens in line. Since I got ST, I've typically avoided Dallas games like the plague. I might have to check out a couple this year waiting for the meltdown. -
Yeah, the van ride back to Staten Island should be pleasant for him. Not sure if they'll make him ride on top with the luggage or underneath the van looking for potholes. Either one might be safer than riding with his teammates.
-
No suggestions of the sort. Just an observation that it was a REALLY bad way to lose a game. My money says that kid never walks off a base again.
-
The Staten Island team was down 1 - 0 in the bottom of the 6th with 1 out and 1 on 1st. A kid hit the ball into the outfield and the kid on 1st gets tagged out at 3rd. The kid that hit the ball made it to 2nd. But when the kid on 3rd started to walk back to the dugout, the kid that made it to 2nd must have thought that was the 3rd out and started walking back to the dugout as well. They tagged him out near 1st. What a lousy way to lose a ball game.

Peter King predicting Bledsoe to backup Romo
Taro T replied to Taro T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
King was pretty explicit to say that it was his own take on the QB situation - that nobody working for Jerry Jones has intimated a switch was imminent, but King definitely made it sound like he believes Drew will be demoted very soon. One of the other guys (Collinsworth, maybe) said that he thought the switch would happen this year, but made it sound like he thought it would happen during the season. King ended the bit by questioning whether Drew would accept being a backup. I don't know how much Drew is making, but I'd be surprised to see him just walk away. It's all speculation now, but as mentioned previously, I was curious how realistic this might be. Interesting. -
Watching the SNF game, at the half they had Peter King on. He was saying he thinks that due to Dallas' line being bad that the Cowboys would probably go with the mobile Romo rather than the statuesque Bledsoe. That would be an interesting turn of events. If it does happen, I can't wait to see the circus that can turn into, especially when you throw 1 addional clown (Owens)into the ring. Any thoughts on how Drew would handle the demotion if it happens? Also, any thoughts on whether King has his head up his nether regions on this one?
-
I would have thought that as well, but the initial posts in this thread seem to contradict that assumption.

OK, let me rephrase it to the following. I doubt he would ever WILLINGLY allow someone to buy the right to put their name or their company's name on the marquee because he HATED the fact that the naming rights to the stadium were sold when it was built. I was just looking at it from the aspect of the lease with Erie County. I have no idea how the NFL's CBA works and will readily defer to others far more knowledgable on that issue.

Ralph would get the $'s from selling the naming rights to the stadium. I doubt he would ever allow someone to buy the right to put their name or their company's name on the marquee because he HATED the fact that the naming rights to the stadium were sold when it was built.

How could you forget a 400 ft tall moth? BTW, IIRC Mothra was the good guy, so I guess you want Ed to be Godzilla. -
Absolutely. Because it obviously is due to something you did, or more likely DIDN'T do, that caused him to spend the night with another woman. Besides, I'm sure he's just TALKING with her. Why, what did you expect him to be doing?

"Ran him out of town like a common pygmy."

Considering that the question of whether these wiretaps are legal in large measure is a question of whether they fall under Congressional or Executive authority (or which portions fall under whose authority), it seems that the SCOTUS is where the question needs to be answered. It'll be interesting to see after the appeals are heard whether the SCOTUS decides to hear the case, and possibly create new gray areas, or let it remain in the gray area that it will still be in after the appelate courts have ruled.
