  1. Bunkley DT from FSU could be there at 17, Tamba Hali DE from Penn State will definately be there so will Kiwanuka from BC. My question is who would we snag at #48 and is that player along with the 17th pick going to make a bigger impact this yr than if we draft any of the players you mentioned. I would stay at 8.
  2. Just thinking out loud here how things could have been different had the Bills not traded their 1st round pick in 05 to get Losman at # 22 in 04. It makes you wonder what would have been different. We all know JP was hurt most of his 1st season and last yr he started and struggled for the most part. Who did we miss out on last year that could have contributed by not having a 1st round pick. Then TD proceeds to draft Parrish, a small but speedy wideout who can only play the slot and that position is occupied by Reed. Here we sit at #8 and one of the top three qbs will be sitting there. All of them will have the chance to start for the team that drafts them. JP is pretty much a rookie this yr too. We know very little about his abilities and he may not be our starter if the jouneyman Holcomb or the GBAY reject Nall beets him out. I have to think things could have been different and maybe better had we kept our 1st pick last season and not sent that away for JP the year before. I also question the Parrish pick because from what we are being told he will be fighting it out with Reed (the 4th overall pick in round 2 in 2002) for the slot position so who will be the number 2 guy opposite Evans? Hopefully this years draft with Levy running things or atleast having a say in things we will draft need positions like o-line and d-line.
  3. If Mercedes lewis (6-6 256) out of UCLA is there at #42 do the Bills draft him? Here are some comments from draft scouts: "Tall, Strong, Athletic. This is clearly the most proven TE in the draft. He has 4.5 speed and can catch better than most NFL Wide Receivers. He has proven at UCLA that he can be the center of an offense." "Tall, speedy tight end who has the speed and hands of a receiver. Has great playmaking abilty and is comprable to the likes of Antonio Gates when you look at his jumping ability. He will cause significant matchup problems at the NFL level." Now the negatives: "Some critics will say he did no do much at the Senior Bowl and others will say that he does not have great blocking abilities. These might be true but I would not read to much into these ideas." "Needs to work on run and pass blocking. He will need to work on his blocking technique and footwork." He is projected in the 2nd round by most mock drafts Ive seen. Could be a nice pick, that is if we dont take Davis in the 1st round. I think Pope from Georgia will be gone by the time the Bills pick in round 2.
  4. I could be wrong but for some reason I thought Big Mike protected Simms blind side at Texes- wasnt he a lefty too. So now you move Winston to left tackle and he has to adjust and learn all new footwork and so on. I dont know but I think a lineman having someone (a guard) to his left his whole career then making the switch to having the guard on his right is a bigger deal than we think. I have no problem with Winston but if you draft him you keep him on the left I think. At # 8 you cant mess up. Maybe in the later rounds you take a chance a a player that can move around the line and switch tackle positions or maybe can play some guard.
  5. Never was a big JW fan but I thought they wanted a 5th rd pick for him. Keep the pick from Houston and trade our 5th round pick to GBay. We saved over 5 mil in cap space when we dealt Moulds, work out a 4 or 5 yr deal with Walker. If that happens we traded Moulds for Walker and moved up 7 spots in rd five.
  6. I heard he asked for his signing bonus to be paid in singles. EM = front row lap dance
  7. Exactly. Im thinking that we package some of are "extra picks" that we've aquired and try to get another pick in the 2nd round- even late 2nd. Then you go to camp with three guys that you know can contribute. Hopefully (in no particular order) a dt an o-lineman and a safety.
  8. Ill take the 1st pick in the 5th round. Keep adding picks in this draft. We need alot of help or maybe ML plans to package a couple picks and move up in one of the rounds. Who knows but its better than having a player who does not want to be here anymore. And a 5th is better than cutting him and getting nothing in return.
  9. its hard to predict a record when we dont know who our qb will be and who will be blocking for him---dont ya think? The 1st half of the schedule is much tougher in my opinion. Its nice that we finish with 4 out of 6 at home. Hopefully we can still be in the race for the afc east when November 26th rolls around. I could also see the Buffalo vs Miami game being moved to a night game on the 17th if the teams are tied for 1st possibly. Now that would be interesting wouldnt it. Sunday night, the week before Christmas with the heaters and hand warmers going full blast on the Fish sideline.
  10. Three home games in Dec! Tenn, Fish and SD are all warm weather teams coming here. Awesome. Throw in Jax athe the end of November.
  11. Im sure the 17th or 24th will be a road game too. We never finish with two or three at home in December. Lets see when the Fish come to town. Im sure it will be sometime in September.
  12. Thanks Carolina! Thats the picture.
  13. how does Balt. know their schedule before 2pm?
  14. About a year ago I found a picture on the internet of Ralph Wilson Stadium. It was the best picture Ive ever come across. I had it saved and even used it as my screen saver at my office. It was a picture taken in the evening and the sky was red and pink, the lights were on and the stadium was full. Somehow the picture was lost on my system and I have no idea where I found it way back when. Doed anyone know the picture Im talking about? If so can you post it. Thanks.
  15. I think we forget how many cities out there would give anything to have an NFL franchise. Yes RW is old and yes he sometimes forgets what day it is and yes sometimes he looks foolish whe is interviewed or talks in public but so what. He is the owner of our Buffalo Bills. Buffalo being the key word.
  16. You cant just open the paper and look at the standings. There is more to it than that. Yes they have 83 points and 39 wins but a successful front office will take the strengths on their team (goaltending for the sabres) and use that to improve other areas. To make a trade just to rid yourself of a log jam in goal is not smart. Mika would be the perfect back up. How long will the sabres continue to pay Marty to sit on the bench most likely for 60 plus games next season barring an injury to Miller. A back-up golalie is just that... a back-up. He plays very little. Who was the back up to Roy all the years in Montreal? There were probably several but nobody cared. Roy was the man and Miller will be the same here for the next decade. To keep Marty as "insurace" is foolish. You trade him (and maybe one of your younger forwards) for someone that can put you over the top now. There were alot of names out there that teams were willing to listen to offers. We were dealing from strength and instead Vancouver got the better of us. For months now the Canucks and Oilers and Avalanche were all interested in Biron and the Sabres expect us to believe that there was not one offer better than a 2nd rd pick? Please. But most of the fans will buy into that and nothing more will be made of this.
  17. That is definately the wrong move. Mika should have stayed and Biron dealt for a player that is currently in the NHL. Not a 2nd rd pick that can maybe help the team in 4-5 yrs. It seems Regier again has shown he is scrared to pull the trigger on a major trade. The one bargaining chip we had this yr to try and improve the defense was wasted. So no we have Biron sitting on the bench for the entire playoffs. What a waste. Miller is our best player and he will not sit one playoff game nor should he. So to me Regier blew it. Just when you think the organization cant become more of a joke ( in the front office not on the ice) Regier pulls this off.
  18. My wife and I had our first baby on March 1st- a boy and we named him Kaiden. Its the most awesome experience you can have. Funny thing is that Miro Satan (former Sabre and current Islander) had a baby the next day, saw him a few times at the hospital and we talked. Really nice guy. His wife must be from Buffalo area. Kaiden is home resting in one of his many Bills sleepers as we speak.
  19. I dont think blaming TD is a cop out at all. He hired Williams and MM. He made the draft picks. We did not make the playoffs and were 31-49 with him running the show at One Bills Drive. We never finished higher than 3rd in the division either. All of the things you mentioned, free agents, draft classes all are go back to TD and ultimately make him the reason we have not won consistantly.
  20. When Marv was on the NFL Network today he ofcourse was asked about NC and the franchise tag. He said he tried to contact Nate and let him know that he is an important part of the Bills and would like to have him for many more years with a long contract. He went on to say that he got his voicemail and was unable to speak with him directly. I just read on KFFL that Levy was quoted as saying that Moilds has a lot left and that he hopes to work something out with Eric in restructuring his contract. Again he was unable to reach him directly. Whats that all about? Do players not return calls? Or do they just say the heck with it and leave it up to their agents. I never heard of a gm telling the press that he has not been able to reach his player. Maybe someone needs to tell Marv that players dont want personal calls (if thats the case) and to call the agent. Maybe its nothing just found it odd that he has said that about Moulds and Clements.
  21. how long does everyone think that Marv will be our GM? Its a given that he would never be fired by Ralph. I think it will be two years and he will hire his replacement who ever that may be, Modrak being the most obvious choice.
  22. please do not trade up. There are too many quality players that will be there at 8. If anything trade down to the early teens (13-15) and pick up another pick later in the draft.
  23. maybe I spoke to soon. Found this on SI.com from the 05 draft: BIO: Three-year starter voted honorable mention All-Conference last season. POSITIVES: Excellent position blocker with outstanding football intangibles. Explosive off the snap, blocks with a nasty attitude and very active. Quarterbacks the line well, helps out teammates and fights throughout the play. Sets with a wide base, seals defenders from the action, and keeps his feet moving throughout the play. NEGATIVES: Not a dominant or powerful center who opens up the middle of the field. Lacks footwork in space and overall blocking range. ANALYSIS: A marginal athlete with adequate size and poor speed, Preston makes up for his physical shortcomings with a great understanding of the game. Offers some growth potential and could very easily backup at several positions for an NFL squad. PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
