Their ages are all a mystery, but wouldn't he have been dead by the time she was born? She can't be any older than Kylo.

I liked VII. VIII just didn't build on it very much. It's perfectly fine to not like a movie without "taking it too seriously". As for the humor, they may have had it to some extent in the first ones, but it was never jammed down your throat like it was in VIII. It's fine to go to that well occasionally, but they camped there and then never left. I don't know, maybe when you have someone like Harrison Ford, who oozes charisma, delivering those lines, nothing ever feels forced. Hell, Finn almost had the heroic sacrifice too until Rose stopped him. That part never made any sense to me. Let's cancel out one kamikaze attack by turning it into two. Killing him off right there would have worked really well with his whole arc in that movie... from coward to hero.

But evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I'm sure it would have been fine with some other title, but there's a whole universe of movies and shows and that one so drastically moved away from the tone of all the others. They went the same path as Marvel, leaning too heavily on the comedy thanks to the success of Guardians of the Galaxy. That style is fine, but not when you already have 7 other movies (yes, I'll even count the prequels) that don't have an ounce of it. A similar move would be to make the next Bond movie a musical. With all the complaints out there about that movie, the thing that really bugged me a lot was some poor development in general. If you want to play up a heroic sacrifice to tug at the heart strings, it needs to be an actually developed character and not someone we just met 30 minutes ago. That would have been a much better death to save for someone at least at the level of Ackbar.

Choosing to rank them is where we go wrong. Why can’t we just sit back and enjoy them the rare moments when they do happen. As for for the people who can’t enjoy this one, I just feel sorry for them. They missed out on a great moment. But hey, that’s their choice.

You know what else is vintage? The guys playing with him buckled under the pressure. Their scores weren’t horrible, but they’re the only two guys in the top 10 who didn’t break par.

There is so much of the top ten in the world rankings on that leaderboard. That would make the win that much more impressive for him.

The expletives has to be flying. They cut away live the second it happened, so we probably missed the fun. I assume he thought it was a fan initially.

That security guard’s life must have flashed before his eyes when he realized that he clipped Tiger’s ankle.

You’re comparing one seed against 15 others though. Many of those times, the winner was just a game or two better than the second place team. Is that winning team so much better than the top seed in the opposite conference, who has played a very different schedule? The most interesting one is the year we won it. Anaheim has the same point total but it was given to Buffalo on a tie breaker. The Ducks wound up winning the cup. So even if the Presidents’ Trophy winner is considered to be the favorite, it’s what, a 20% chance for them compared to 18% for team #2 and 80% for the rest of the field? We’re talking about probably the most balanced league out there. I just now read the stories about how they’ve been bouncing between arenas. Anything that gets them out of that bouncyball arena is a good thing, but man, that’s messed up.

I re-watched that one a week or so ago. It actually got worse with a second viewing.

The next few months of speculation should make for a fun ride... all because of one laugh and the title reveal.

I'm up to date on that one. Great show.

The first half is identical to what I posted. I didn't list anything post-2000, but I think it would be pretty much the same as well, minus the HBO shows. I never saw them, so I can't rank them. But since it looks like your tastes line up with mine, I should probably get around to watching them. I know the Sopranos is available through Prime, but I haven't built up enough courage yet to make that time commitment. And yeah, I realize that saying I should probably watch those two shows isn't exactly an earth shattering comment given how popular they are/were.

I cut out these two portions because there's a very obvious trend among the 5 teams listed (2 separate teams for Vigneault). The four good teams were dripping with talent while it has been essentially absent from that Detroit team. The coaches definitely play a role in the results, but it's certainly easier to get there when you do have a good roster. We at least have the makings of some elite talent in the form of our big two, so there's at least something to work with there.

I haven’t put too much thought into the last two decades yet, but I will start with 80s: Cheers 90s: Simpsons/Seinfeld

Every single one of these things you're mentioning fall under the label of "things he's supposed to say". I really don't know how much to take away from it. But let's face it, more than just a path to winning played a big role here. The dollar signs are a huge plus. The familiarity with Tallon is another. Then there's living in Florida, which does mesh pretty well with the whole retirement thing. Even while coaching he can probably have a more relaxed lifestyle when he's out of the office.

I love how we always hear that such and such coach is looking for a team that is close to cup contention. That has to be almost as rare as a #1 defenseman or center in free agency. Those teams aren't typically in the coaching market. Sure, every now and then someone like the Craps last year needs a coach, but you'll have, what, maybe 1 of those openings every 5 years or so? It was all the talk with Quenneville and look where he wound up. Maybe they're a team on the rise, I doubt it, but they're still multiple years away from being a contender. So yeah, a coach might be a bit skeptical about a team like Ottawa that has just started bottoming out (and without their top pick). When it comes to a job like Buffalo, there's at least something to work with there in the form of Eichel and the most hyped defensive prospect since the Nixon administration. Add on top of that an owner who is not afraid to spend and there's more than enough draw for that job.
