  1. I'd love to see Weight centering a line with Vanek and Satan. That sounds pretty dangerous to me.
  2. Christmas present actually. I love free stuff.
  3. He's a restricted free agent. The big question is if he's worth the amount of money he would want. Not only is he a soft player, his effort has also come into question. You have to wonder if the money could be better spent on one or two other players. Personally, I want him to stay. I don't want to buy a new jersey.
  4. There's too many ways around that. They'll just ice the puck anyway. If a guy desperately needs to get off the ice, he'll fake an injury.
  5. It also makes the line changes after icing the puck on a penalty kill pretty risky. That hanger will usually stay on the side opposite the benches. The fresh skaters have to move pretty quickly from the bench in order to break up the play (assuming the pass connects).
  6. Crosby's from Nova Scotia. It will be a bit tough for him to play in his hometown. Note: I don't know if he moved to a different area while young, making this post completely pointless.
  7. Try watching a few higher level college games. By higher level, I mean the elite teams. There is no 2 line pass rule there and it really doesn't hurt the game at all.
  8. Sorry about that. I think I'll read an entire post before replying next time. Anyway, I think its a good possibility that management around the NHL will have a tough time adjusting to this system. Yes, the Sabres have a lot of room now, but just like the NFL, Darcy has to be careful not to cripple the team a few years down the line. It's going to be a few years before we can really know whether or not Darcy and co. are any good. I just wonder if the fans are willing to give him enough time to find out.
  9. I think its next to impossible to evaluate the roster right now. There's going to be so much player movement this summer. Half of the players who will be Buffalo Sabres come October probably aren't even in the system right now.
  10. The next month is going to be very crazy. I've always been a big fan of the first week of free agency in sports, all the signings and rumors. This entire month, and probably beyond that, will be just like that. I think I may actually be drooling right now.
  11. My boss is in Italy and I have to check his email for him each day. He's getting about 5 of those stock tip ones per day. I don't get any on either of my email accounts.
  12. From what I've read, the two teams that will probably have the most balls in any lottery would be Columbus and the Rangers. The system I saw went back 5 years and you lose a ball for each year you made the playoffs and each time you had the #1 overall pick. The Blue Jackets traded for the #1 pick, but never actually earned it, so they wouldn't lose any balls.
  13. Ok, I'll pretend that this was what I was going for with that post.
  14. I'll go with Layne Staley too. In fact, its time to throw on an Alice in Chains cd.
  15. If nothing else, he has more than enough time to bounce back.
  16. I haven't read any of the quotes from Jagr or Roenick. Isn't it easy to make comments like this after you've lost? I don't hold any value in these quotes. Guys like Barnaby who said the same thing during the lockout are the one's who should be credited.
  17. It's a minor issue, but I'll point it out. Derek Roy should be able to step into the lineup? Hadn't he already cemented his spot already?
  18. You just ruined my day.
  19. Not that it means much, but the numbers I see say 8 shots in 28 games (probably includes playoffs, but I don't even remember him playing in the playoffs). Anyway, I still don't see why shots really matters for a defensemen. If we're talking about a guy who could be a future point man on the powerplay, ok, but that's not what he is. If you want a good evaluation of his play, I think you have to look no further than the fact that he was benched for most of the last quarter of the season for a guy who hadn't played a single game up to that point.
  20. Shots on net aren't a good measurement for a defenseman. I'm more worried about his lack of physical play and the countless opposing forwards who skated right around him as he tripped over the blue line.
  21. I'm not saying that Biron didn't hurt the team. He definately did, but it wasn't just him. The whole team sucked for a long time. Random BU guys in the NHL or AHL right now: Tony Amonte Shawn Bates Sean McEachern Jay Pandolfo Mike Pandolfo Keith Tkachuk Scott Young I guess I can live with the two we have for now.
  22. I don't think it's fair to say that Biron really hurt the teams playoff chances over the last two years. Simply put, the team wasn't good enough. The trade deadline deals last year were a big part of elevating the Sabres up to contender status. One quick request for Darcy Regier, add another BU forward to the team so the Drury-Grier-_____, BU line can be complete.
  23. Scratch Tom Morrow off that list. The word prospect doesn't fit him at all. He's terrible and will never be signed my this team. His first year at BU was bad, but his second was even worse. Next season, his junior year, he'll probably be benched for 75% of the games.
  24. That's a bit of a trek, but I'll keep it in mind.
