A Few Thought about the Jets Game, in no particular order
DrDawkinstein replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm very concerned about a guy his size already having back problems. Makes me think he's already on the downside of his career, and we'll need to be replacing him in 2-3 years. -
Picking up Edmunds Option a Rare Beane Mistake
DrDawkinstein replied to Billy Zabka's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can tell you I am 100% sure I am NOT $18M/year happy with him. $18M/year?!?! That's more than we are paying Tre White! If Edmunds wants to stay, he needs to be happy with about $10M/year. I miiiiiiight be able to go to $12M. Maybe. But he needs to show out the rest of this season. -
Poor roster decisions still an issue with this regime

Yep, ran right into his face and never saw him coming. -

True. They didn't help the rookie any with that play call, but we needed 13 yards so it was going to take some time no matter what. Even with that, I still expect Josh to assume he'll have to be on the move or get rid of it quickly. Anything but standing back there like The Return of Bledsoe. -

Frankly, I put that on Josh to see that and adjust properly. Something he failed to do there, and on more than a few other plays. Josh's lack of presnap reads and lack of situational awareness has been a problem all season, and especially in our losses. Same thing for when Dawkins went out and it was 3rd and 13. You have a rookie, backup LT in the game on 3rd and Long. Josh MUST know that pressure will be coming and either step up/move around early, and/or get rid of the ball. ANYTHING but standing there, holding onto the ball, and taking a sack there which pushed us out of FG range. I love the dude, but he needs to start channeling way more Brady and get the ball out immediately or make the smart play and throw it away. -

I think they got him for going into the QB's legs. Cant go low. Of course, they didn't care that Epenesa was engaged with another player who pushed him down and into the QB's knees. BS call. But I believe that is what they saw that triggered the flag. -

If these are our biggest mistakes with the roster, then we should all be thrilled with the FO and coaching performance. 1) There is something "off" about Breida that fans arent privy to. The Bills are now the 3rd coaching staff in about 3 years that brought the guy in, but decided against playing him much. Maybe he is fumbling in practice. Maybe he isnt answering the coach's questions properly. Maybe he dips his wings in ranch. We dont know, and we won't know, but I have a hard time putting that all on our coaches. Yes, it was nice to see him get involved if we are going to be swing passing it to the RB. And I have been calling for him to get some playing time for the past couple of weeks. But there is something the staff knows that we dont. 2) Having quality depth isnt an issue. lol This is actually a +1 for the FO/Coaching 3) Agreed he should have more playing time. Even if it is at the cost of Sanders and Beasley. Who probably need the rest at their age anyways. 4) Now THIS is a tricky one. Yeah, he had a decent game yesterday. But the game he suited up for previously (I believe Tenn), he had a HORRIBLE game. I was pleasantly surprised with him yesterday and just happy he wasnt a huge liability again. 5) I dont care about punting. Best solution: dont punt. -
Picking up Edmunds Option a Rare Beane Mistake

I dont think it was a mistake to pick up Edmunds' option. But I dont think he deserves much of a 2nd contract either. If we can get him on a team friendly deal, like we have with Milano, Dawkins, and White, then I'm for keeping him around. Just not at top LB money. Sure, it is tough to know exactly what is being asked of Edmunds vs how he is performing, but, we do have an easy comparison to make with Luke Kuechly who played the same position in the same defense, and who had the same Draft Position and similar grading. And as far as my eyes tell me, Edmunds is not performing as well as Kuechly did. However, even if he is underperforming, it seems that LBs take a longer time to "season" and often can turn major corners in their careers at the 6-7 year mark. That's why I'm up for keeping him around on a reasonable deal. -

Not to answer for Virgil, but as someone who feels the same way... it is tough to think that since Edmunds rarely makes much of an impact normally. For a guy with his size and reach, I would expect him to be making more plays in the middle of the field like Kuechley used to. But Edmunds hasnt been anything like that. -

This was the get-right game we needed before this next string of 4 games, which will be a true test. McD better have the coaches and players ready to recreate this exact performance, from playcalling and scheme to execution. Nice to see it against the Jets, even better since they are in the division, but we'll need to see this focus and determination if we are going to survive the next month. -
I'm big on Algorand right now. Also just procured a few of these Awair Elements that mine PLANETs which are on the Algorand network. Pretty cool little gadget for monitoring air quality, and each one mines about 23 PLANETs/day (currently at $.35/token). Hoping for a little pop and then flip em into Algos.

But look at the LIFE this losing has brought back to the board! Frankly, TBD had been getting pretty boring and full of COVID threads because it was the only thing to talk about. Now we are back to having real football related discussions about which coach to fire, which players to cut, which players to sign/draft, what this team needs to win, offensive schemes and gameplans. Losing is good for the board, lol

I fully expect an "Open Letter to the Pegulas/McBeane" thread any minute now.
-
I'd be fine with a running play. My biggest beef is on 2nd and 10+ we end up taking a low percentage deep shot to Sanders... which then puts us in 3rd and Long instead of 3rd and Manageable. We infamously did it on 2nd and 17 in the Tenn game. Then we did it TWICE last week. Just take 3-5 yards on 2nd down and get us to 3rd and manageable.

I'd rather have the better holder than the better punter. Bass FGs are crucial, and god forbid our Super Bowl comes down to a last second FG again. I'd rather make the FGs, and put more pressure on our D if/when he shanks a punt.

Read the thread. There is a HUGE difference in protocol for vaccinated positive tests vs unvaccinated. There was never any leak. It became apparent to everyone the moment he was ruled out for Sunday's game as that is the unvaccinated protocol. There was no leak or tattle. He's just mad he's being held accountable for his own actions.

Greg Rousseau named to PFF all rookie midseason team
DrDawkinstein replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Congrats to Groot, but also congrats to Beane. Great "left-field" pick (although it wasnt that far out of left field). We've now played 2 games against the Dolphins, and Groot has made impact plays in both while his former team mate who was drafted much higher, Jalen Phillips, hasnt done squat that I've noticed. Brother, for those of us who have been on this board for 15+ years, there is a significant lack of whining about everything lately. And it is glorious! Go Bills! -
Two of the best .. Hyde and Poyer Mic'd up
DrDawkinstein replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not many teams in general have that! This team is special. I hope they capitalize on it. -
Right on. My dad and grandfather had a lot of memories from the Rock Pile. They moved on pretty easily. It'll all be fine. Gotta keep moving forward. Go Bills!

First off, thanks for the thought out response. Don't get me wrong. I tailgate. Have been since I started going to games with my dad in 1987 (had to tailgate that strike year because, again, it was the only thing that made going worth it, haha). And just had a pretty decent party when I was up for the Washington game in September. I fully understand and appreciate the tradition and what it provides to the gameday experience. And you will absolutely be able to do that at a new downtown stadium. Especially the RVs. That is good money for the Bills, and they arent going to lose it. I havent been to a single downtown stadium that didn't still have some (plenty) of tailgating available. Even Nashville which I referenced for its proximity to bars, has a ton of parking for tailgating. Jacksonville is downtown and on the water, and still has a ton of tailgating (Lot X 4EVA!). Pittsburgh, plenty of tailgating. There might be one or two out there, but few and far between. The Pegulas/Bills understand what a huge part of the brand's identity is centered around tailgating. They will do what they can to get rid of the table jumping and butt-chugging, but they will absolutely have parking lots to tailgate in. There is too much merch to sell, and money to make by charging to park in their special tailgate lots. The beauty of the downtown stadium is the potential to provide BOTH tailgating and an indoor/bar experience option. Not just one.
