  1. It works on with Offense sometimes, sure. Not historically with Defense. To the bold, THAT is exactly one of the things he is being paid millions of dollars as a HC to figure out. Not having a replacement/improvement ready is mismanagement.
  2. Mentioning the Browns as any example only helps my case!
  3. Thank you for digging that up. Yeah, not a great list when it comes to D coaches. Belichick is an entire different breed, and McD is no BB. I do think it could change too. Hence, why I pointed out McDs coach-speak of "the current plan". That could literally change tomorrow. Thanks again, good stuff. That's the problem. As leader of my team at work, I need to be the ultimate decision maker and see the bigger picture, but I absolutely hire people smarter than me in their specific field and often tell them "If it ends up with ME pressing the keys, then we've gone horribly wrong". Well, McD is pressing keys.
  4. Right, @Captain Hindsight is merely replacing one bad management decision with another bad management decision. There's yet another alternative, which is bringing in a capable DC, elevating yourself to true HC status, and trusting your hires to do their jobs so you can do yours. But again, I do like it from an accountability perspective. It just sucks it had to get that far and need to be so accountable.
  5. I dunno. If I'm Terry and this is the best McD can come up with this year, I'm thinking "Then why am I paying you HC wages if you are just a DC? As HC, why cant you build a staff properly?" But I do agree with the accountability aspect. Again, if I'm Terry I'm also thinking "Ok, but any drop off or disappointment by the Defense puts you on the hot seat"
  6. It's not even nefarious collusion. It's just smart business, and most teams being far smarter than the Browns.
  7. If your speculation is correct, then I LOVE this plan. But there's nothing indicating it's not gonna be the same ol soft Tampa 2 we've always seen. Might just have a few more aggressive play calls. Now do Defense.
  8. And was fully focused on game management, and reviews, and time outs, and situational football like a HC? Yes.
  9. Right. And now he has a new job that has an entire set of new, higher pressure responsibilities. Seems so, yes. We were much more aggressive when he temporarily took over in 2018(?)
  10. Still not a general fan of the philosophy even if you can show one example of it working. I also dont think McD is the "Andy Reid of Defense". Also, you may see that change with Nagy back as OC this year. I'd also add Reid has been HCing for over 20 years. He hasnt always called plays. He has enough experience to do both with one hand tied behind his back. McD is going on year 6 and has shown he still has some skills to develop.
  11. I put "officially" in quotes because McD gives more great coach-speak saying "the current plan". That can always change later. Starting a new thread on this since it has been rumored and discussed, but I've never seen it out of McD's mouth like this. IMO, not great. It may be an improvement over Frazier, but I'm not a fan of Head Coaches calling plays. Seems like the boss is wasting time doing other peoples' jobs.
  12. New renderings updated today https://www.buffalobills.com/news/stadium-news Yeesh, these arent great. So much neon. Way too busy. The exterior shots are cool tho.
  13. Nightmares. Literal trauma. 🤣
  14. Yes, you are incorrect. Lamar is essentially a RFA right now. If that helps how folks think of this.
  15. I've been saying this since last year. And am not sure why it isnt done already. The Falcons have the cash, the picks, the need, and it would be HUGE in this city.
  16. Ehh, disagree. Nothing about this signing or Hamlin coming back stops us from drafting a Safety early. It just means we dont HAVE to. Which is how Beane likes to go into the draft. With at least "a guy" plugged into every hole. But if Antonio Johnson is there at 27, or Jordan Battle at 59... I wouldnt be surprised to hear their names.
  17. Or getting through the entire season with 2 over 30, banged up Safeties.
  18. He might be back if Hamlin doesnt come back. Or even if he does. Behind our starters it's just... Rapp, and maybe Benford? He signed in Vegas! Thank dog
  19. And Poyer couldnt even break into the starting lineup of a 4-12 Browns his entire 4 years with the crappy team. Players develop. Change of scenery and scheme could help. Just sayin.
  20. Sounds like you are on to something. However, I have to ask. Why do you think they'd be able to pull off this far more complex process when no one could make the simplest processes work? Do you really think there is a team out there willing to pay him $270M guaranteed, but not give up two 1sts for a QB who they think is worth $270M? JMO, but I dont think the two 1sts are the thing that is holding this all up.
  21. Harbaugh, class act. But sorry, John. I'm just a nobody message board poster. So I'm here TO JUDGE! Most likely outcome.
  22. Maybe. IMO, if I'm Baltimore I'm just sitting pat. I want those 2 1sts because I'm going to need the assets in order to draft a replacement QB next year. No need for Baltimore to change or waiver on a single thing. Lamar sitting out this year, and losing another $32M, is hilarious. I've never seen someone lose out on so much money by trying to hold out for so much more that is never coming. It's almost sad.
  23. I wouldnt put it past Lamar to think that would work. I have a feeling what would actually happen is practically the end of his career.
  24. Yep. Nothing has changed. Lamar is still tagged. Teams can negotiate with him and trade two 1sts for him. That's the whole story.
