  1. Because he was the ONLY backup LB out of about 6 that had ANY experience in the NFL at all. He started games at MLB last year for the Chiefs. 12 of them I think. He can play all 3 LB positions and give us experience if a starter goes down. I'm sorry, but I really don't see the 5-10 220lb Buggs taking on enormous guards and tackles for a season if Poz goes down. If Ellison or Mitchell go down, we're stuck with a rookie replacement. Just shocked they didn't keep him around for experience. If we're actually in a playoff race later in the year, and Poz or someone goes down, now we're stuck with small, inexperienced players. Great.
  2. Yeah for whoever has Evans. Boldin is far better than Lee.
  3. I think it's more of confidence in Buggs being the backup MLB.
  4. Chris Brown reported Kelsay isn't there because he's in Chicago for his daughter having a surgical procedure done. And he also won't be back for the game.
  5. Yeah, I just think the real issue is him on the playing field. The off-field Smith is always going to be there, we knew that. But if he doesn't perform on the field like he did in college, then there's a problem. Off-field Smith doesn't matter if on-field Smith is his dominant self. I'm interested to see how he translates.
  6. He was. They just released him last week I believe.
  7. It must be me, but I just can't understand the logic here. (Before he was drafted) -Smith is overweight -Leaves and goes MIA at the combine -Manages to get fatter -Clearly has off-field issues. (draft time) -He drops from being the top tackle in the draft because teams are scared away from his attitude, even though they know the dude was far and away the best OT of the group. The Bengals were the first team that said look, we know you're a fat and lazy S.O.B off the field but you're a menace at tackle on the field. We'll deal with your crap and put up with you because we need you on the line. (now) -Everyone is surprised when he keeps acting the way he's acted his whole life. I just don't get it. Everyone knew the player they would get, and everyone knew the problems and baggage he was going to bring along with him. Yet, everyone is complaining about the baggage. Smith = crap off the field, dominant on the field. There isn't one person who thought otherwise. Well, this is the off the field problems that is going to go on. It isn't out of the ordinary. It isn't something that nobody expected. This is what the Bengals or any other team that selected him signed up for, and don't believe that if the Bengals passed, he would have gotten out of the top 10. There were plenty of other teams that would have selected him even with the balance of on-field vs. off-field issues. This is like being angry at the tiger when he eats the showman.
  8. You can't be a bust without playing a down yet. Some of the best players in the league are lazy and have weight problems. We all knew Smith was lazy and fat, and also the best OT in college football. I'll wait to see how he performs on the field before deciding if he's a bust or not. Smith has not done anything out of his character that nobody already expected. This kind of behavior was why he wasn't picked #1 overall. Let's see him play.
  9. I agree. I'd trade a 1st for Boldin before I'd even trade a 3rd for that assclown Marshall.
  10. I wanted to start a thread to report this myself just so I could pre-emptively make fun of anyone saying "thank god the Bills didn't pick him." There's nothing more annoying than when people say that about players on other teams who get injured. Like he was going to break his foot two days into camp with any team that signed him. It's different if he turns out to be a bust, but when a guy gets injured, it is absolutely ridiculous to say "thank god we didn't pick him.
  11. The Bills could know, pre-snap, what exact play the Pats were going to run on every down and we still wouldn't be able to stop them. If, and that's a big if, DeVree was traitor enough to offer insights into their playbook, it's not going to help much because there's not much we can do to stop it.
  12. Early reports were saying the Broncos wanted a 1st and 3rd. Although unlikely, I think if the Jets gave that up in return for Marshall I'd be happy. I think Marshall is a cancer, and that his antics are deeply entrenched in his personality, and things will never change with him. He'll face more suspension time in the future and he'll drag whatever team he's on down with him. Mortgaging their future for a team cancer is always something I'd be happy to see to teams in our division. Of course, if they landed him for a 2nd rounder, I'd be pissed.
  13. Kelsay can be as stout, and not get pushed around, as he wants to be. The fact is, Tampa-2 DE's are required to be pass rushers in order for the defense to work. Kelsay is not that. Let him go be a solid player with no pass rush somewhere else where that style of play is warranted. It isn't here.
  14. It will be hard for me to decide who to root for, since I'm now a Lions fan (inside joke for those who remember).
  15. How much do the tickets for the shows generally cost?
  16. We actually run opposite systems, or at least look for the opposite qualities in TE's. They look for blocking TE's, and don't value receiving ones, while we've been trying to get some good pass catching TEs in here for years. They release the TEs not because they're bad players, but because they don't fit the system style of TE. It's why they have no use for Ben Watson, and why Josh McDaniels wanted to get rid of Scheffler. Just a different philosophy.
  17. I already know I'm going to be pissed with the Bills' gameplan. We're going to run that hurry-up, no-huddle crap, giving Brady and their insane offense a million more posessions.
  18. McCALL? What could you possibly have seen from McCall that was any good?
  19. The dude may be out for the year. Why is it surprising he was cut?
  20. Oh my God. That was hilarious. The part about the gargantuan tard friend is going to make me laugh for a very, very long time.
