  1. And to think, I wasted one of my "free" visits to the Springfield News-Leader for that.
  2. They drop your low score as the pick'em progresses. So if you get a 14 during week 2, you may end up tied for first, assuming no one has a perfect week.
  3. That's interesting. At least once per month, the local Central NY TV station website I go to, has picks of someone who walked out of the store without paying. The pics they show are usually someone with a television or two. Although the last one they posted looked like it must have been something small and expensive. When they do this, the date of the walk-out is usually two or three weeks previous. I always wonder why it takes them so long. I assume they eventually track these people down.
  4. If you followed the link, read the article and the comments, you would have seen the law that this is under. Theft plain and simple. They obviously knew it wasn't their's. Two weeks ago I went to a Walmart self check out. When I looked down the bill exchange had a multiple bills hanging out of it. I didn't even touch it. I called over the attendant and she took it to the area manager. It was 5, $20's. The attendant said money is left on the machines quite often. A week later I was in again and asked her if someone collected the money. She didn't know as they hand it to the main office. If no one collects it, they eventually give it to charity.
  5. "Connections," that's really funny.
  6. I left that post on my computer screen without reading it so I could go out and mow. So when my wife walked into the room, she read the screen. I don't know how to explain this. Male humor?
  7. Where did you get this from? That looks like the original set to the Honeymooners.
  8. I think he is going for a Win-Win situation. Win #1, he is released and signs with whatever team he likes. If no one signs him, Win #2, he sues the league like Kap. Bigger payoff and you don't have to beat the crap out of your body.
  9. Is that paper or plastic straw men? It makes a difference you know.
  10. I am afraid to click the link. If it's like the Hoffman site I may be lost forever.
  11. Since you got me started on the Hoffman site, it has raised a few questions. Of the three threads I have partially read, one was thoughts on the White Album. I know you are a big fan. When you listened to it, was it CD or Vinyl? Fair number of posts are raving about the vinyl, although I know my ears could never tell the difference. Some are complaining that some of the tracks sound compressed, or over-compressed. I am not sure what they mean by that. Do you? Now I am off to read a 120 post topic on, "Psychotic Reaction."?
  12. The Steve Hoffman forums are looking really good. Thanks for the tip. I would "thank you" twice, if I could.
  13. I agree with this.
  14. Have you seen how heavy some of the major league pitchers are? I'm sure Met and Yankee fans can name one each. Yet you called that a sport. What about Pro Football linemen? Sumo wrestlers? Weight lifters? You can take any sport, by your definition, and turn it into an activity. Because you can ride a bicycle, doesn't mean the guys that ride in the Tour De France are not competing in a sport.
  15. Even in the land of Graybeards/Greybeards, that is weird.?
  16. Running is an activity, so what is track and distance racing. Ping Pong is a skill game/activity, but Baseball, a skill game, is sport. I think most things that involve competition and which drive your heart rate up, would be qualified as a sport.
  17. At the end of last year, there was a bill in NY that would allow you to remain anonymous. Cuomo veto'ed it. Here is one of many links. I thought it was reported at the time that he said winners could form an LLC, and it could take the winnings. I don't see how that guarantee's anonymity. https://nypost.com/2018/12/09/cuomo-vetoes-bill-allowing-lotto-winners-to-remain-anonymous/ Found another link https://nypost.com/2019/02/19/how-the-winners-of-new-york-lotterys-biggest-jackpot-were-able-to-stay-anonymous/
  18. If the main line was "One Josh Allen pass, over the line," the song would have lost its reefer connection and wouldn't have changed any of the meaning.
  19. It's a real shame George Carlin missed all this.
  20. The song was written by Jon Fogerty several years before Ike and Tina recorded it. I saw an interview of Fogerty with Dan Rather where he talks about writing the song. If you get cable, look for the AXS channel, as they replay interviews. It is channel 299 on Spectrum in Syracuse. Here is a link that is also interesting. It explains Ike and TIna's take on the song. https://www.songfacts.com/facts/creedence-clearwater-revival/proud-mary
