If you listened to McDermott during his press conference he talked about helping Allen by building inside then out. Which means protecting him then worrying about weapons. Now they could easily sign two FA OL and that would adjust the thinking but as it stands now if they are going offense it sounds like OL

I’m still not on board with Metcalf. Idk why I’m just not feeling him. He had very little production, had injuries and had two other NFL quality WRs to take pressure off yet it still didn’t happen. I like grabbing WRs like Ridley, Samuel, Isabella, etc later in the draft more then that. He may make me eat my words but I hope he does go before 9.

See this is what I think too. Then when I started to go into everything. Is Ford as a Guard better then Bradbury at Center? I tend not to think so. I'd grade them very closely. So why is Ford considered in the 10-20 range and Bradbury the 30-50 range. After today that will change obviously but I find stuff to be like that funny. Why isn't Lindstrom considered a first rounder then. I could argue Lindstrom is better than Ford at Guard. Does the potential to play RT make that much of a difference.

http://walterfootball.com/NFLHotPress/2_1_2019 Not a huge fan of walterfootball but some good tidbits if true that the Bills really like Lindstrom, Hockenson to go in the 20's, and 4 QB's in the top 15.
-
When people watch Hockensons tape you have to remember the guy is 21 years old. He's still young. I went back and watched tape of Travis Kelce at Cincinnati and he was a lumberer he didn't look like a freak athlete either. I will say Kelce did look a hell of a lot more filled out in the upper body in college. Its very hard to compare Hockenson to guys like him and Gronk and Ertz who have filled out their bodies and have been in the league awhile.
-
Probably all 4 guys to be honest that they let go. There is a common theme. 4 older coaches with long track records of success who may have been stuck in their ways and didn’t want to change or thought their job status was secure replaced by 4 guys who are all younger and haven’t had the taste yet or being a full time guy besides Dorsey. Guys who will be hungry to make a difference on the staff.
-
I think the biggest nugget he let out was when someone asked about TEs being a security blanket for young QBs and he agreed but then said something along the lines of obviously we want to help our young guy by building the trenches out. That typically to me means that they are eyeballing OL/DL. It actually doesnt surprise me cause Andy Reid has that same philosophy.

Very unlikely that teams value torn ACL Jeffrey Simmons over him, Polite has character concerns according to Matt Miller....Bosa, Williams, and Allen will be gone before the Bills pick. Burns will be too one dimensional to take in the top 10. Daniel Jeremiah has reported teams are concerned about Oliver’s last 4 games, his junior tape in general, and his overall size which is why you have seen him go from guaranteed top 3 in mocks to anywhere from 7 to 25 now. Gary has a ton of potential but doesn’t live up to it with production. You can poke holes in every DL argument besides the top 3. The reason why Hockenson is gaining steam in circles is because A)He’s the best TE in the country B)He’s still very young and hasn’t tapped his potential C) He has no character concerns D)He is an all around prospect and TE with both his blocking and catching prowess. As as I stated in the other thread, his combine will be a huge factor in whether he goes top 10 or in the latter art of the 1st round

Some draft buzz on discussion of Titans/trade up...
gonzo1105 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are some rumors that the Giants like Daniel Jones more then Haskins. Could be just the Manning-Cutcliff-Jones connection people are going off of though -
Its good to see a fellow Hock fan. Here's the line to the thread from a week ago, if you want to read on the comments from there.

You should only value them when you have a franchise QB and need to constantly stock up on more picks to have cheaper contracts. Thats my opinion. If you dont have that guy then a 3rd or 4th round pick usually doesn't matter unless you hit on said Franchise QB with one of them.
-
I agree as I said earlier, it’s very easy to jettison guys who want 12-15 million a year and replace them cheaply when you have Tom Brady, Drew Brees, And really good QBs leading. They lost Solder for big money, replaced him with Trent Brown and now Brown is gonna get huge money and they’ll get another 3rd next year
-
Actually they didn’t at all. They didn’t sign 1 qualifying FA. They traded for Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Brandin Cooks. They did sign Nickell Robey Coleman, Suh, and Sam Shields but they were all cut by the Bills, Dolphins, and Packers so they didn’t count against the formula. They also signed Cooks, Gurley, and Donald to extensions so that might seem why they were in your mindset more. On the flip flop side they lost Trumaine Johnson, Sammy Watkins, Cody Davis, and Derek Carrier making them eligible for 4 comp picks. They received 3 as Carrier fell below the AAV Salary required to obtain the 4th one
-
I pretty well explained earlier quite easily how the Patriots and Rams accrued their pics pretty accurately without secrecy. Go to overthecap.com they do a heck of a job as well and are like 98% accurate and there is zero mention of playing time or awards as part of the “super secret formula”
-
Its not based on awards or playing time, every year people bring this up and it’s not true if you look at the history of comp picks The Rams got 2 3rd round picks solely because they had a net lose in FAs and Trumaine Johnson(who was terrible this year) signed a contract with an AAV of 14.5 million a season and Sammy Watkins ( who was average) to over 15 mill AAV. It’s based on Players lost vs players gained. Then based on AAV and comparing and crossing out equal salaries.

Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal
gonzo1105 replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct -
The reason why they can do this has more to do with the fact that Brady and Belichick can cover up weaknesses because their two of the best all time. Get used to it the Pats are gonna be in line for two more 3rd rounders most likely next near with Trent Brown and Trey Flowers as FAs
-
With only 6 FA(none of which are in high demand) and the hope the Bills sign multiple Free Agents this off-season, don’t expect any next year either. Clay doesn’t count for us since we released him.
-
Its very easy actually. The hidden magic formula is really Players gained vs players Lost. If you have more players lost then gained you qualify for a compensatory pick. Then they take the Average Annual Salary Of the players you gained and the players you lost and match them as equally as possible. To have a player qualify thy need to meet a certain salary threshold as well. Players signed that were cut from other teams do not count in the players gained column For Example: Buffalo lost: Seantrel Henderson Preston Brown E.J Gaines Joe Webb Buffalo gained: Murphy Lotelelei Stanford McCarron Bodine Bush 6 gained 4 lost = no picks Now the Patriots were a question Patriots lost: Nate Solder Malcolm Butler Danny Amendola Dion Lewis Joe Bademosi Cameron Fleming Patriots Gained: Adrian Clayborn Jeremy Hill Patriots lost 6 Gained 2= 4 possible comp picks Solder AAV is over 15 Butler AAV is over 12 Amendola is almost 6 Lewis almost 5 Bademost 3.1 Fleming 2.5 Clayborn is 5 AAV Hill was 1.3 So now match em up. Lewis and Clayborn cancel each other and Hill and Fleming cancel each other This leaves Solder= 3rd round, Butler 3rd round, Amendola 6th round, Bademosi 7th round based on their AAV

To give a little perspective, Jim Irsay was fined 500K and suspended 6 games for drug charges. I consider this to be worse even before you find out the details of exactly what’s goin on. I see at the very very least a 1 million dollar fine and 10 games(speculation). The more details that come out the worse it will get
-
Exactly, being an old man getting some action and paying for it is one thing. Yea it would be frowned upon by the league, he would get a fine, a suspension etc. They have it on videotape of him being there. The girls were being sex trafficked to the US from other countries. Even the association of that is why the NFL will do something stern. You have an owner of the NFL at a prostitution ring with forced girls on video and he's one of the most influential owners in the league. He might get the charges reduced the but the "protecting the shield" he didn't do.

This is a real bad look for the NFL. I mean I’m laughing but obviously Kraft being one of 32 is a huge deal but he also was one of the biggest decision makers in league circles being on all kinds Of committees. if this is as bad as it appears, I would suspect the NFL would pressure him to sell the Patriots and go live under a rock. I’m not even sure they would want his son or the Kraft name associated with the NFL.

Report: Bills interested in UFA TE Jesse James
gonzo1105 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a # 2 it’s a good pickup, as a # 1 it’s meh. I expect him to get 4-6 mill a year just because of the expanding cap
