  1. Naw, not really. He can act like DLC bigshot Bill Clinton did in '92 and '96 when he gave enuff lip service to the party's left wing...and then proceeded to crap all over them and govern from the right after he was safely ensconced in office. That's what it appears McCain is doing now.....besides Joey Lieberman is the Right's favorite Dem.
  2. All McCain's career and methods have been about is pissing off the radical Limbaugh right wing of the party...and God love him for it...why would he possibly change now? Otherwise he might as well mosey down the lame Dole/Kemp way of '96.
  3. .....and good riddance. The porcine Reynolds represented a very badly gerrymandered district spreading from Amherst to Rachacha, and during Republican rule was the number three man in congress as head of the NRCC, but after the Foley scandal (where he was running for his life against Jack Davis) and the takeover of congress by democrats Reynolds' stock plummeted. Some say, and I'm one of them, that it was the divine intervention of the October Surprise of 10/13/06 that saved his pork butt last time, but he had no chance of winning this time around what with the NRCC accounting scandal breathing down his neck. The tidal wave is beginning and it is only Spring. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/reynol...2008-03-20.html
  4. What was the objective? This ought to be good. Actually, while we're at it, what was the objective of the whole goddam idiotic useless war to begin with?
  5. Really? Ha ha! Yeah I guess an inane plan that sprang forth from the bowels of Billy Kristol's nutty Orwellian named Project for the New American Century group and the U of Chicago's neoconservative clan could be labeled as "big government". ...but "liberal"? Yeah I guess that's why noted "libs" like Wellstone, Feingold, Kennedy all voted against it while DLC conservative hacks like Clinton, Lieberman and Feinstein voted for it. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll...&vote=00237 Did you see Bush's ridiculous unpaid infomercial this morning? Once again doing the "fight em there so we don't fight em here" routine. What a looser!
  6. I think it's a foregone conclusion who McCain is going to choose...."uhm here John Let me help you with that"; http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5i2bn_xK...aLK9AAD8VGBT080 With McCain's fixation on Iraq, making it the centerpeice of his campaign, and his probable choice of Lieberman Obama could stand before a microphone reciting Soul on Ice and announce he was releasing Johnny Muhammad from jail to make him his running mate and he would still crush McCain. That's how toxic Iraq is now.
  7. I've heard non-sequitars on several occasions from you but you just topped yourself with that one. I guess the "Surge" (sounds like a lame energy drink from the coca cola company don't it) is just working out dandy too. The conservatives are really putting all their marbles on that one even though it shows absolutely no sign of fostering any political discourse in that country.
  8. Happy Anniversery today! http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/355509_wared.html I think we got democracy, cheap gas and a stable economy out of all this right?
  9. I did not know this about Crist but sure enough the rumor is most definetely out there. Ok, cross Crist off the short list.
  10. Really?!? Another closeted Republican? Honestly, I hadn't heard that.
  11. It is funny what is coming out about this Dupre woman. She sez she had a rough childhood and then it turns out she lived in an exclusive neighborhood in a 1.7 million dollar house in Jersey. Now that her identity is known I really find it hard to believe that she was worth five grand an hour, maybe she's not my type but geez come on. For once though I think the woman will get off scot free and make a mint on this (her dreadful R&B tune has recieved millions of hits) while the John will have to pay the fiddler. Since it seems appearent they will go forward with charges against Spitzer they will have to grant her some kind of immunity to testify.
  12. So then, why doesn't McCain publicly renounce Hagee and refuse his endorsement? Guess you gotta get some of the loopy fringe votes.
  13. I've been hearing from the corporate media talking heads and others on the right that Obama has no accomplishments. One of Sean Hannity's favorite running tricks is to go in the middle of Times Square and shove a microphone at an anonymous passerby asking what has Barack done for us lately. They then go back to the studio and air the people who hem or haw and look confused. Great gotcha journalism there Sean. I don't remember these questions or anything like them being asked of Bush. I mean can anyone think of any Bush accomplishments outside of being an alcoholic cheerleader at Yale, protecting the Texas borders from Charlie during Nam, failing in a congressional run, failing in a business venture-Harkin, winning the governorship of Texas...a largely ceremonial position, and depending on corporate welfare as owner of a MLB team.
  14. Lieberman is a long shot, I'll admit, but it wouldn't surprise me at all...afterall they're old Senate friends. Lindsey Graham doesn't surprise me either but Crist from Fla seems to be the logical choice. Sabres will always suck as long as Rachacha big shot Golisano owns the team. I told him to trade Afinigenov to Atlanta for Kovalchuk but did he listen? Nooooooooo. Seriously, watch the bottom fall out next year and season tickets plummet giving Tommy the perfect excuse to move the team to Hamilton. Almost makes me long for the Days of Johnny Rigas....almost.
  15. This is of course not news but I'm glad it is brought up and it should be brought up and again and again as Bush makes his daily Rose Garden plea (he did it again yesterday) to the public to allow telecommunications companies to violate their privacy with no chance of recourse. Absolutely unbelievable!
  16. I'm not exactly sure of whom you are referring to? Is it Watson, who was never a congressman, mayor of Austin sure, but never a congressman. or... ...noted Conservative/libertarian gadfly and the author of the piece Andrew Sullivan whom I believe is British. Either way it doesn't negate the accomplishments in just one term that Sullivan has listed. I think George Bush was elected for a helluva lot less.
  17. I found this just now: http://www.oddschecker.com/specials/politi...ident-candidate Of course it doesn't mean anything but.... In response to Huckabee if he wanted to mend fences he'd just pick Romney.
  18. I was actually talking about McCain's possible running mate but since.... I'm leaning towards Nader.....sadly again.
  19. Ok...so how do I pick up my gratis case of brewskis?
  20. Well let's say you were going to Vegas...where they actually lay odds on these kinds of things....who do you like? You can eliminate Huckabee and Romney right off the bat. Pawlenty from Minnie is mentioned as a candidate as well as Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Condi Rice. I don't think any of those is a very logical choice either. McCain is kind of a yawner and the only way he shake up his static campaign would be to do something controversial and regain his "Maverick" image.
  21. Fred pretty much reacted the same way I did when I heard the rumors of the Kerry campaign considering McCain as a possible running mate in '04. At the time I thought it was all media created bs....now it turns out there was talk from Kerry about that possibility. BTW: Who do you like?
  22. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_...chris-matt.html
  23. While at the same time accepting (they hugged for goodness sakes!) his endorsement.
  24. Think about it for a moment Fred. The RNC is already prepping itself for an Obama candidacy (McCain talks about Barack far more than Hillary, Rush would like to see Barack "bloodied up" for the eventual vote in November, Orly on Fox has the preacher clips every five minutes on the Factor) so I would say, knowing the way the RNC usually thinks, that they would want an old DLC member to pick off not only middle of the road independents, but also disgruntled Hillary supporters. Let's face it Fred, the far right Rush fringe isn't who the Republicans are targeting for votes this time around, and they may very well win without them. Who do you like?
  25. My opinion is Joe Lieberman (I-CT).
