  1. What I heard on the radio this morning is that the expert they had on said "living wills" in NY won't usually do the job, but rather naming a health care overseer in the event of a catastrophic illness would be more beneficial to fullfilling your wishes, whatever they may be.
  2. And there they were when I walked in Tuesday. I guess Dave must read this board. I'll have to buy him a Stoli Tea next time I see him. It's hard getting decent local news and views here as you know what with the local dailys the News (Warren Buffet), or the Gazette (Alabama). Your paper is much needed in these parts.
  3. "Republican does not necessarily equal conservative." I'd like to believe that, really I would, but lately they all fall in line like sheep to the ultra right cause.
  4. Is he really. Some politicos I bet would beg to differ.
  5. Living wills don't work in NYS.
  6. Inane poll to begin with.
  7. Wait a sec. Can you honestly tell me that you didn't know Bush and Co., including the fringe that controls congress, were leading to something like this? Sorry, there are no excuses for ignorance.
  8. Could Tom DeLay get his hands on it perhaps? Afterall, he is God isn't he?
  9. School shootings are pretty passe by now. Soon all our kids will be armed with flak-jaks for self-preservation. The fact the kid was Chippewa (injun mass murderers?) didn't take me aback either. What made me scratch my head is wondering whether or not the dude is eligible for execution under the new Supreme Court law?
  10. I think the feeding tube should be removed from the Democratic Party.
  11. Yeah I mentioned this before to the kid in connecticut, that this blip in so called "states rights", has a precedent in Bush vs Gore but he missed the parallel. Do you think the current US government only invokes the need for federal intervention when it comes to furthering their cause?
  12. I couldn't agree with you more on how culpable the media truly is in this sad story.
  13. VA, I know your intentions are sincere and I appreciate your opinion. Having seen the interview last night with Michael Schiavo on Larry King the guy strikes me as...well...less than on the level. That does bother me. But 20 judges have heard this case over the last fifteen years. What invalidates their opinion? What makes Tom DeLay, George and Jeb Bush and Frist wanna play God? Can I ask if you if you find governmental intrusion scary, or needed?
  14. It would really be nice to believe it's over but given these people's track record I doubt it is. These people aren't far removed from the David Gunn's , James Kopp's and Eric Rudolph's so why do you think they'll stop now? Especially since the people they support in government control all the branches. Even when Terry Schiavo passes these people will still be invoking her case for fundemental and political causes. And they'll have plenty of support in congress.
  15. Ok, how about nam-myoho-renge kyo?
  16. Spin it back and ask yourself how much do her folks and brother have to gain from it? How much do the right wing politicians that further this tasteless charade, and the Randall Terry groups that back them, have to gain from it. No one's hands are clean. Just keep government out of family issues.
  17. It's obviously a winger site. Scroll down to the bottom and see what paranoid conspiracy nonsense the right still clings to. I feel unclean just having read it.
  18. "Ruby Ridge"? "Remember Waco"? OK now I know where you're coming from. Thanks
  19. No, but we do know the mind of Judge Whittemore and he ruled as every other judge has ruled before so it's finally over, barring of course another bizarre spectacle by Frist, DeLay and company.
  20. And once again last night on Larry King and Nightline it was stated that all the money's gone. You're going to have to back up your claims with sources or nobody's going to believe you.
  21. Cable lady, now is not the time nor the place for that. Most of America breathes a sigh of relief that this publicity driven charade by the far religious right has had its *excuse me* plug pulled. Now Randall Terry can go back to trying to jump start his talk radio career and Tom DeLay can go back to dealing with his multitude of ethics violations. The zealots can put away their placards and signs and find someone else's front yard to camp out in front of. And Bush? He can go back to sleep.
  22. Where was Tom DeLay here? http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/m...politan/3084934 When the government starts picking and choosing which cases they deem worthy to intervene in then we are really going to have problems drawing any sort of consistancy in regard to fairness.
  23. I remember the Cloister, it was a restaurant on Delaware and Virginia. How's that for an inside joke?
  24. You can't hold the mainstream media cuplable if you don't even bother to watch it. The most glaring thing I hold them responsible for is ignoring mainstream Americans views, where in poll after poll America hates what the government is doing, in favor of soundbites from the fringe...the Tom Delays, the Randell Terry's and the 15 or so zealots camped out on the parents lawn. It's become a real life take off on a reality TV show: Survivor: Pinellas Park Florida brought to you by Ford trucks of course.
  25. I heard one of the talking heads on CNN say that the money was all used up for her maintenance. Not that I'm doubting your scenario or figures but could you tell me where you got 'em from?
