Ferraro should not have resigned
Bishop Hedd replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I spoke out against it (the war) often here during those early times..under several auspecies...I had to because of the pro war fever, not just on this board but the corporate media as well, was getting out of hand...and dividing the country. I've been to several protest marches coast to coast as well as locally. Do I gloat over how right we all were...no, not really there's still much work to be done. What I can't stand is the Billary/DLC coalition planting their lies when all the time back in '03 they fell in lockstep behind the neocons. She is truly a monster. -

"Nitwit"? Why Derwood how thoughtful of you. I love how somehow you can call me a "nitwit" and yet you're the one who actually fell for my "Whiskey Dick" monicker by PM'ing me thinking I was DC Tommy boy. I wasn't sure whether to be flattered or insulted. It just proves you can be a cloyingly condescending libbertearuhn-looking down your nose at everyone else-and still be as thick as sh--.

Franken packed the place but the show itself was hit and miss. As Franken does on his other tour stops he starts the show with a brief history of the town then relies on local guests the rest of the way. He started out with Eyal Press who wrote a recently acclaimed book about his experience growing up in Buffalo with a father who performed abortions during a nutty period circa 1992 when anti-choice zealots were trucked up to Buffalo to block clinics. Next was a very dull mayor Byron Brown, followed by the neocon congressman Brian Higgins (who was greeted with boos and chants of "warmonger"by some members of the audience. All in all kinda boring but worth a laugh. Standby for the most courageous American out there Cindy Sheehan at Kleinhans (where both Bush and Cheney have spoken previously-oh the irony) June 17th.

Air America host Al Franken will be doing his Air America program live from the Church of Ani DiFranco at Deleware and Tupper this coming Monday. He'll have as a guest Al Ulthman from the best weekly paper in town the Buffalo Beast. Tix aren't that difficult to come by if you sniff around. Two years later and Air America is still going which really must bewilder the far right. And on a funnier note the next day Pat Buchanan will be debating ACLU president Nadine Strossen at Daeman college right across from that old armpit Amherst Central. http://www.daemen.edu/news/news_item.php?item_id=11

Passports needed for Fort Erie?
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
What are you looking for Darin? If you pretend to think this passport idea will do any good and be a mild inconvenience to those of us who reside near a border then I have no other choice but to say you're delusional. -
I thought it would have been Chafee, or maybe Hagel, but Voinivich seems to have reservations. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...o/un_ambassador

Passports needed for Fort Erie?

"Feel free to get back to telling us how very smart you percieve yourself to be - and don't forget to include the ever ridiculous 70's television resets." What? You're mocking out American pop culture now? -

ONCE MORE (in caps just for Potsie) ALL THE HI-JACKERS HAD PASSPORTS! -
Do you hear that ticking Mr Moore?
Bishop Hedd replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Potsie doesn't think that way. His inane views are pretty rigid to the core. He's too busy waiting for the next homestead act to realize yes, times do change, even after ten years. -

Just as long as you don't mention that twit Goldberg. I think "Biased" was the only book Bush ever read, outside of My Pet Goat of course. -

Great to see amongst all the right wing blather here that somebody finally gets it. -

It's the great conservative catch-all for everything bad that happens to them: Blame the media! Also add "Hollywood elite" to my ever growing list as well. If anyone else wants to lend a hand with some right wing buzzwords feel free. -

"The last time I went accross" Which was when? These are key words because they infer that you very rarely go across. You must have aroused suspicion because the last time I was asked to show photo ID was back in highschool. Anyone who has ever crossed the bridges around here knows the routine: you pull up to the booth they ask your citizenship, where you live, how long you were in Canada and what you're bringing back. The whole exchange takes about a minute. My father, a retired US Customs agent, says this passport nonsense if approved in its current form would jam things up so badly nobody's ever going to want to cross the bridge. -

Gotcha. Now to get back to the thread, if Dev Null's out there I'd like to ask what the basis for the thread was? That was actually my original reply to the topic. Did he give up Show Biz-which is unlikely because the man obviously has a big ego- or are you just throwing out red meat to the hounds? -

And for those of you who don't think this is a big deal there's plenty of irate folks around here a heckuva lot angrier than I am.http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050417/15030901.asp -

You may find it strange, but I react the same exact way when Potsie and the rest of the far right here post using tried and true ill-conceived and poorly thought out *code words*. Let's see what I've discovered in my short time here: Michael Moore Hillary taxes They wanna take away our guns activist judges Protest against the war and you're a commie subversive liberal press Whitewater New Deal socialism Ted Kennedy They're anti-Christian! ...and on it goes. Of course no argument is given as to why these are either good or bad. They're just spouted out in some form of neo-con/libbertearuhn stream of counsciousness. I just have to laugh. -

I was criticizing a poorly thought out piece of garbage legislation that would have a severe impact on not only my life and work (I can walk out the door now and be at the Peace Bridge in 10 minutes) but the lives of most WNY'ers. I don't particularly care who was responsible for this nonsense but I would at least like to know the motivation behind it (which is certainly NOT to protect the borders), and the motivation for Bush's pulling back. It was you and another poster who got all sensitive (waaaahhhhhh! look he's picking on Georgy again) in response. Your response is typical of the right these days though (see exhibit A: Tom DeLay) act all wounded and insulted when you take when of your boys to task. Or you can always do what you're doing here, throw Michael Moore's name into the equation for no discernible reason. -

Bishop Hedd replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It seems if you just mention Moore's name for no reason it riles up the Bushinista militia here. Weren't you just complaining about reflexive criticism of your boy Bush a few minutes ago? -

I'm still trying to make heads or tails out of the basis for this thread. Lemmie see here, it appears as if Moore is taking a week break for something or other and suddenly his career is over with? The guy just made the highest grossing documentary in history, won an academy award, written three best sellers and his career is over with? If that's the case Tom Brady must be in real trouble this off-season. -

He's back tracking because he doesn't have a choice. Don't think the Democrats (outside of Louise Slaughter) are getting off lightly either. As Turner stated their wimpy reaction is just as much to blame as Bush's original plan. I guess we're going to have to wait and see what we get. As if the lines at the bridges around here couldn't get any more painful they have to throw this red tape at us. Funny how you find out about things. I first heard this story over a week ago (before the outrage locally hit) on the damn sports station GR55 driving through Grand Island on my way to work. Appearently it took the sports guys to rile things up. -

Wonder who talked Bush into reconsidering (that is if he's actually reconsidering) his disasterous passport plan. I highly doubt any of his super genius advisors did. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050418/1004095.asp
