  1. I heard the money's all gone, which sort of kills the claim of her husband tying to get rich. I'm sure how much more far right these people can pull away from mainstream society but they continuously push the envelope. Take this quote from the Exterminator: “The sanctity of life overshadows the sanctity of marriage. I don’t know what transpired between Terri and her husband. All I know is Terri is alive…. Unless she has specifically written instructions in her hand, with her signature, I don’t care what her husband says.”
  2. Hey Frank could you tell Staba to please deliver the paper to downtown Buffalo more than once a month. My watering hole still has the copy with the NF High Basketball team on it.
  3. Not surprising in the least that you missed the connection between the Frist quote and the majority opinion of the Supreme court in Florida 2000, which once and for all destroyed the myth that conservatives are all for States rights by announcing that their reasoning was "limited only to the present circumstances." Ah those whacky wingers and there abuses of rights, privacy and the Constitution. If anyone's local turn on WBEN 930 AM right now and listen to Sandy Beach go off on Bush and the congress. For a hard core dyed in the wool conservative like Beach it is refreshing to hear him break from his usual bias.
  4. I never said she should be starved to death or shouldn't. IN case you missed it the first ten times I've posted about this topic, including the thread I started, I want the government out of a personal PRIVATE issue.
  5. It's so ludicrous I don't know where to start.
  6. It's funny how the Right suddenly loves Federalism...when it suits their needs. Bill Frist:"a unique bill passed under unique circumstances that should not serve as a precedent for future legislation." Does this remind anyone of Florida 2000?
  7. ...and now you know the rest of the story. Are current events discussed on this board as well?
  8. . It's extremely selfish, especially by her parents who appear to be a couple of zealots what with the freakshow they've brought in to "represent" them. Watching the usual suspects in congress stick their noses somewhere it doesn't belong is strictly politically motivated. I think they'll get their noses cut off over this one.
  9. Carefull, I hear the emotional dogs and rhetorical midgets thundering in the distance.
  10. Well, they did it. They managed to convince a Federal Judge to hear their case. I'm not positive but doesn't this trample over boundries between legislative, executive and judicial concerns? Not that this has stopped them before you understand.
  11. Come on now. Did you actually think all this contrived "support" amounted to anything else?
  12. I really don't care what happens either way and it's not for me to decide what to do with her. What got me galled about this issue is watching the procession of sanctimonious twits and publicity chasers like Randall Terry parade in front of the cable news cameras, people who never even knew her when she was cognitive but obviously want to decide what's best for her now. "Macabre" and "ghastly" aren't quite "evil", "nazi" and "neo-con" (sounds like a bug spray in which case it's a fitting adjective for Tom Delay) now are they Joel?
  13. "Still don't dare to voice those opinions here with the rhetoric dogs, emotional midgits at your heels. Yes, and this has to do with WMD's and nothing else.' Nonsense! I do! And its too fun and easy pushing their "ow, you hurt me" buttons.
  14. Anyone hear the recent claim from a US soldier that the Saddam capture in the "hole" was staged? Don't know if we can throw it on the pile just yet along with Jessica Lynch, the toppling of the Saddam statue, Mission accomplished and a plastic turkey but it wouldn't surprise me. Just not enough information yet.
  15. More proof positive concerning my theory on this board thus far : the self persecution of the Right seems to be veering into a land of make belief. A land where what may be considered a slight or insult is magnified into terms like "nazi", "evil", and "neo-con" (I don't know what that is but it sounds mean) that haven't been used. Began to wonder if the rockin' righties here aren't suffering from a sort of mass delusion, then I realized they aren't much different from the current Conservative mindset which acts all wounded and insulted if you dare question their wisdom. Hey guys I had figured this was a Conservative board so I didn't think government intervention into a personal family issue would be tolerated. Then I realized it was a partisan board.
  16. "The effects of such feeding tubes being removed can be seen by the third or fourth day, when the patient's mouth begins to look dry, and the eyes appear sunken. From Days 5 to 10, respiration becomes irregular with periods of very fast and then very slow breathing. By the final days, kidney function declines; toxins begin accumulating in the body; and multiple organ systems fail from lack of nutrition. Court-appointed doctors have said that Schiavo, in her condition, would not feel any pain, but her parents' doctors dispute that" It doesn't seem very painless does it? Still I would take a physiicians opinion anyday over such nutcases like Randell Terry and Tom DeLay. Speaking of the "Exterminator" he's got to be in his glory right now, changing gears from his own assorted ethics violations to concentrate on feeding tubes must be a welcome relief for him.
  17. The blame for this circus atmosphere should land directly on the doorstep of her parents, who seem intent on letting every screwball pro-lifer run the show. Some of these people I thankfully hadn't seen in years. Just now Randell Terry (Randell Terry!) just introduced Terri's mother so you know the cable news cameras will be fixated there for the next week or so. Combine that with the right wingers in congress desperately trying to intervene where they shouldn't and you have a tasteless display of grandstanding. The cable news channels just eat this garbage up so get ready for the Terri Schiavo death watch, brought to you by Ford trucks.
  18. Is tennyboy related to rcow, gene freckle or occams razor?
  19. Precisely! Nobody said it was easy but when you have the Christian right card and the politicians like that abomination from Texas Tom Delay taking their marching orders from a bunch of people who really couldn't care less about Terry, who's fast becoming a political pawn, then it becomes a circus. Watching this group on every news station last night was maddening because it made you just want to fly down there and smack them upside the head.
  20. Bishop Hedd is the name of my Catholic speed metal band, sort of a riff on Def Leppard, Judas Priest and Ratt. Long live 80's catholic death metal! Though your post is barely legible, your opinion negligible I have to give you credit for at least figuring my board name out.
  21. I was just joking Silver. I mean who hasn't seen Contact. Anyway Big "Jeff Gannon" is scheduled to be interviewed in tomorrow's NY Times. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/ne...t_id=1000846672 Only then do I think we'll find out about the real Big Jeff Gannon/Guckert. You know, his turn-ons...turn-offs. His idea of the ideal military escort and how does he act on a first date.
  22. Occam's Razor. Was he another poster around the time of RCow?
  23. I wonder about that as well. I understand by pulling out her tube she could live for as long as another month. As a matter of fact I've also heard that her tube as been pulled out before, only to be ordered re-inserted by people like Jeb Bush and other self-appointed moralists.
  24. I don't know this broad from shinola but I have a tendency to not trust the military's version moreso given their track record as well. And as for "Gannon", Conyers' House resolution died before the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday so we'll probably never know who Jeff Gannon was, or what he was up to. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.Res.136:
  25. That does seem to be a recurring theme here.
