right wing/left wing & name-calling
Bishop Hedd replied to Azalin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Very long winded indeed. I found it pretty ironic how the point he was trying to get across is that conservatives have feelings too ("prick us do we not bleed"?) so their wounded reactions to "Nazi" comparisons are only natural. Then he procedes to pound out what basically amounts to a manifesto. -

Jeff Gannon: White House press room scandal?

"lots and lots of people" Obviously. I guess what is missed here by assorted posters is an understanding that I was being rhetorical. Please note what I stated originally: "With the vast array of information and solid reporting out there it's sad to think that MOST people still feel it comes down to a choice between coke and pepsi." -

So what you think they should be showing instead is pictures of big oil rigs and long pipelines drilling for what interior secretary Gale Norton says are "a gazillion barrels" that will solve all are energy problems for the next 1000 years. And no, of course THAT wouldn't be biased would it? Gotcha. -

As far as I know such a position doesn't exist and probably never has. The sentiment expressed in the News article goes to the very core of some of the important services we've come to expect that we will be losing out on. Another one announced yesterday is there will be a group of three roving nurses now serving all the public schools in the city of Buffalo due to "budget restraints". Can you imagine; "I accidently cut my arm of with this band saw Mr. Jones can I go see the nurse" "Sure Joey, she should be driving up Elmwood on her way from McKinley in the next half hour." -

So CNN should be criticized for putting pictures of these thriving herds on their website? Gotcha. Who goes to the CNN website anyway? Hell, who goes to the Fox News website for that matter? With the vast array of information and solid reporting out there it's sad to think that most people still feel it comes down to a choice between coke and pepsi. -

There's a lot of folks who are taking credit for pushing local congress gal Louise Slaughter to the forefront in Gannon Gate. Staba and Hudson at the Niagara Falls Reporter have been taking credit for the last month. -

"And, of course, the countless pictures of Caribou in the ANWR stories on cnn.com." Of course how insidious and biased of CNN. We all know there's no caribou in Alaska! They faked those shots somewhere on a soundstage backlot at Universal Studios. How dare they make up news like that! -

Erie County Budget Mess

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Remember when Cleveland had a million people living in its city limits? Detroit had 2 million? Saint Louis was in the top ten population wise? No, of course you don't. -

Once again the article is correct in saying there will be reprecussions for those of us who still live here whether we hopped on the anti-tax bandwagon and ran with it (WBEN radio commentators Sandy Beach-who doesn't even live in the County-and his morning show buddy Tom Buerele have made it a cause celebre) or those who wanted cooler heads to prevail. These reprecussions are undenieble and we are starting to see the effects sooner rather than later. Which leads me to belief this anti-tax mantra will burst when reality starts to stare us in the face. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050317/1053119.asp -

Wait. It doesn't? http://www.cofcc.org -
Very true indeed. It all comes down to baseball's unusual anti-trust exemption status that has forced congress' hand to act-no matter how lamely-over an issue that has called into question the very integrity of the game. Take away that status then baseball has the right to handle their affairs as they see fit. Until that day the House has every right to act as ineffectual do-gooders for the cameras.

Yes. I brought up this topic a couple nights ago. Fact is 'roids have been around for decades among high school and college athletes. I was offered them by the team physician when I was playing division one college ball back in the eighties. Needless to say I pulled a Nancy and just said no fearful of the fact that they make testicles shrink. Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and assorted others seem to have no fear in that regard.

I agree that the author might be a tad overboard but many of the changes are not going to be easy, especially come budget time next year where even a greater shortfall is predicted. There's going to be a number of upset people here gradually down the road when basic services they took for granted will be nixed. The area is already seeing it with the auto bureau flare-ups. -

And your post concerning Rochester would have what to do with what? While you're at it why don't you mention Jillians in High Falls closing for all that has to do with anything. Restaurants and clubs change and turnover all the time. When you come back to Brighton you'll probably discover that they used all the suds from the beer and turned the place into a car wash. Meanwhile back in Erie county; This supposed "tax payer revolt", a term continuously propagated by the local radio outlet WBEN, WGRZ Two on your side television, as well as the daily Buffalo News sounds great from a distance (and it seems many of you that post here live a diistance from Erie County) but there will be reprecussions. I came across this Niagara Falls paper on this Two Bills Drive site the other day as a matter of fact but can't seem to find a copy in Buffalo. Fortunately they are on-line. http://www.niagarafallsreporter.com/croisdale183.html -
