  1. I thought you said Flutie raised the play of everyone around him? Whta you are saying here contradicts that.
  2. It just goes to show you how much of the accolades are based on reputation. It was the same thing with Ruben Brown when he played here and all the Pro Bowls he went to. Zach Thomas missed more tackles than he made.
  3. How'd the rest of that season end for Flutie? Lost his next 9 starts. What I said was It did not neccesarily follow from what I was saying that I though Johnson was a better option. Nothing like misrepresenting someone's oppinion.
  4. Flutie was only good if teams couldn't gameplan for him. Once teams had film on him from a few games he was terrible. As soon as he was forced to be a pocket passer he couldn't do anything. Having said that it doesn't follow from what I was saying he was a wrose option than Johnson and I really don't want to re-open that debate.
  5. Kind of like a begginer poker player who doesn't think at all up against world class poker players who think too much.
  6. It would be cool to find out what NFL coaches really think of each other. Who they find the most difficult coaches to match up with.
  7. I know its not Nix and Gailey's fault, however the team has had this problem with running backs too. I actually like the Spiller pick, but McGahee, Lynch and Spiller were all first round picks and still in the league. Travis Henry was also a 2nd round pick. Hopefully Spiller sures up the position for the next decade.
  8. People talk about Jauron being a good db coach, but I'm not so sure. Terrence McGee was a pro bowler before he came here. The team used its best resources on dbs also. Whitner 8th overall, McKelvin 11th overall. Jairus Byrd in the 2nd round, Youboty in the third. When you use those kind of resources on the secondary it better be good.
  9. Anything relating to how high the ceiling for a particular player is.
  10. I hope you are right! I like what I read about him. The issues people raise about Clausen are non-issues to me. Especiallly the attitude stuff. I got the feeling from watching the luncheon that it would be Rolando McClain.
  11. Imagine if Schobel had a DE even average playing opposite him how good his numbers would have been. If teams had to choose what de to double.
  12. I could not disagree more. I think Gruden got more out of quarterbacks than many other coaches did. Rich Gannon did squat untill he had Gruden. Chris Simms only decent season came under Gruden in '05.
  13. I'm pretty high on Thomas too. I also like Bruce Campbell. The way I thought about it was the Bills trade back to around twenty. Then with the picks they stockpiled trade back into the 20s. I'd like two picks in the 20s one to be Thomas and one to be Campbell.
  14. The most encouraging thing I read in thast piece was that Coach Gailey is going to tailor the system to the personel. Too many times the past decade coaches were to caught up in playing a particular scheme regardless of is it fit the personnel or not. Think Greggo with his "46" and Jauron with the "Tampa 2".
  15. The more I read about Demaryius Thomas from Georgia Tech the more I like him. Seems like a freekish athlete. though not quite as freakish as Calvin Johnson. I think the athleticism will carry over to the field.
  16. It seemed like just about anyone tore it up in Denver during that period. Terrell Davis good, no doubt, but Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson put up good numbers too.
  17. I think Byrd's 9 ints is proof a lack of a pass-rush isn't the reason Donte isn't getting ints.
  18. I also believe they were the only 3 teams to win more than 100 games that decade.
  19. Keyshawn played under Dungy for 2 seasons. Keyshawn was accquired in 2000 and Dungy started in Indy in 2002. Dungy had Keyshawn for the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
  20. I don't put much stock in what Tony Dungy has to say regarding offensive football. It was pretty well conditional upon him being hired in Indy that he have no say in the offense. His record in Tampa on the offensive side of the football is not very good either. Trent Dilfer and Shawn King were people he probably thought were winners too. If Dungy talks about defense I do listen.
  21. I remember this one. I think what happened was sean jefferson maybe was given a catch that he shouldn't have been given, that kept the drive alive. It was a play near the sideline and clearly his left foot was out of bounds. I remember the players were called back on to the field for the XP to as NE scored the TD with no time remaining. It was painful.
  22. Dom Capers = Ultimate example of why being a good coordinator doesn't make them a good coach.
  23. I remember how good I thought Leftwhich would be after his rookie season. His has to be one of the best rookie seasons for a qb.
  24. Mike Salmon. Borther of Tim. Gave up a while ago.
