  1. High school for me was BNL (barenaked ladies)
  2. Can I make a suggestion to add on to the description that other games post in the main forum? I like the way you did it, but I'm an idiot and would still have been confused.
  3. I just sent you a pm about Houston! Have been waiting for the forum. A bunch of us want to go.
  4. I wouldn't put much stock into the backup QB thing. There aren't many teams where I'd keep their backup QB in over grabbing a starting QB off the waiver wire (New England might be an exception if Mallett is as good as advertised, but overall I wouldn't trust it). It tends to make the crappy QBs (Arizona, Seattle, etc) viable if you really need them over providing extra value to the top. Would you rather have Vick or Manning? You're looking at a QB5/QB6, WR10,QB10. I think it's pretty clear to take the QB5/6 and WR10. If you really want Manning, go for him in the auction. The prices you got them at seals it for me. Vick, the better QB, is also half the price. Gotta keep him. And there are plenty of QBs with upside this year you can get cheap as a backup (RG3, Cutler, Freeman, Fitzpatrick, etc). Cruz at $12 is a good value. That's about half of what I'd expect to have to pay for him. Look at it this way. If you wanted to keep all 3, according to: http://www.fftoolbox...s=12&budget=200 Vick: Average Cost $20 Manning: Average Cost $16 Cruz: Average Cost $24 If you keep Vick + Cruz and buy Manning, you spend $32 If you keep Vick + Manning and buy Cruz, you spend $36 If you keep Cruz + Manning and buy Vick, you spend $40 The best value here is to keep Vick and Cruz, and I think they're also the best two players out of the three.
  5. Does anyone know if blacked out games will stream live for out of market customers through this? Will I get to watch it live on Thursday since I live in Texas? Since I have NFL Network, that's the only real reason for me to pay the $20. Thanks! Also, the NFL Preseason Live app for Android Tablets seems to be out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neulion.android.tablet.nfl.preseasonlive&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5uZXVsaW9uLmFuZHJvaWQudGFibGV0Lm5mbC5wcmVzZWFzb25saXZlIl0.
  6. The Moderator CP lets me access Unapproved Content, Removed Content, and Manage Members. I can see warnings, banned members, suspended members, etc. Don't think I could see that stuff before. I can't make any changes, though.
  7. This is awesome. I love it! One thing, though, SDS. I can see and click on "Moderator CP" in the upper left hand side, even though I'm just a member. I'm assuming that's a bug, and not everyone is supposed to see that. EDIT2: Only seems to happen on the front page of the forum.
  8. I don't think you can separate types of competition. To me, it's about expectations. While you may not expect a guy to come in and compete for a starting role, if he does that and wins, that will only make your football team better. I don't think its fair too say that Potter doesn't have a chance because the Bills didn't bring him in to compete for the role. I do think, however, its fair to say Potter's at a huge disadvantage because the Bills already have a lot of trust in Lindell and he's proven he can do it in situations outside of training camp. I agree with you on it being silly to think Potter has done anything to unseat Lindell at this point. The vibe I was getting from you was that you felt it was impossible for him to over take Lindell because he wasn't brought in to fill that role.
  9. I didn't state what my opinion on the competition is. I did, however, make the point that the Bills want competition at every position, regardless of whether they think its a position that needs improvement or not. Competition makes everyone better, regardless of who you expect to win.
  10. Is this why Buddy Nix on Sirius NFL Radio's training camp tour yesterday said the goal is for competition at every position?

  12. Try the Publix subs at their deli. Amazing.
  13. HEB blows. I miss the grocery stores back on the east coast (Wegmans and Publix)
  14. Do you have the option to "request desktop site" turned on in the browser? That will tell TBD you're using a desktop browser, which will give you the desktop version of the site. Hit the menu button, it's a checkbox listed on the menu.
  15. The story about Vince Young can be traced back to his family. His family has always had a huge influence on his life, and he never really learned to live without parental roles in his life advising him. His family always guided him, and never really let him become a truly independent individual. Mack Brown prides Texas on being a family atmosphere, which allowed him to flourish but didn't challenge him to gain independence from his family. When he went to the NFL, this first showed up with his choice of agent. At the urging of his family, Vince Young rebuffed more experienced agents to choose an attorney from Houston who was a family friend, Major Adams. He was the only NFL client that Major Adams actually had, and has now filed a lawsuit against him for his incompetence: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/06/12/vince-young-suing-former-agent-financial-adviser/ Vince was a good leader at Texas - when he had someone like Mack Brown to guide him, and his family was close by in Houston, making it easy for him. Mack likes to act as a father figure to many players, which Vince responded well to. When he made the transition to the NFL, and living in Tennessee, he ran into a combination of bad advice from his family, not being in close proximity to them anymore, and having to stand on his own as a professional in the NFL (lord knows Jeff Fisher doesn't coach the same way Mack Brown does). As a result, he ran into issues with maturity. For really the first time in his life, he had to stand on his own. This led to a lot of immaturity and lashing out (remember that whole depression episode). As a result, Vince has struggled, finally getting the "stand on your own" experience that everyone gets thrust into as a young adult while also having the added pressure of being a starting NFL QB and top-5 draft pick. I'm intrigued by the combination of Vince being older and hopefully more mature, and Chan being more of a players coach than Jeff Fisher, to be a decent combination for him. Only time will tell, though.
  16. That indicates they thought another team had a 2nd round grade on him. Wonder if that was us.
  17. Yeah, they're giving away Encore until the end of the month as compensation.
  18. You're asking me to give up my winning secrets!
  19. And don't forget, here's the movie where Gary Oldman is in the role of a lifetime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukRdEVthmWM
  20. I tend to like Spotify better. They also offer streaming in 320kbps, and I find their library to be better suited to my tastes than MOG or Rdio. In addition, Spotify is launching a true pandora-like service right now (just launched on iOS recently)
  21. You're right on the GPS location, that will kill battery. Same with anything using CPU time to do processing in the background. However, in the world of mobile devices, there are two technologies that are used by Android & iOS that heavily negate battery drain on push notifications. Android: C2DM (Cloud To Device Messaging) iOS: APNs (Apple Push Notification Service) Most applications will use one of those two services to implement notifications. They essentially function as a middle man service that your device always talks to. It works like this: Any Application Designer ==> Service Provider (Google's C2DM or APNs) ==> Mobile Device As such, its only one persistent connection between C2DM/APNs and the mobile device. It *will* kill battery if they are constantly pushing information through the service to your mobile device that your mobile device then sits in the background processing, but it will use hardly any battery to keep it in the background, and every once in a while push something through C2DM or APNs to the connection that's already open anyway (like a "Its your turn!") message. I hope that helps highlight how its really up to the Application writer, how they implement notifications (hopefully through C2DM or APNs), and what they do with the information once its pushed (simple notification or does it turn the LED on, turn the screen on for 10 minutes, vibrate nonstop, go download a bunch of data automatically behind the scenes, etc etc).
