Revisionist history. It's never wrong .
No top 10 pick is worth the $$ . The NFL teams are forced to overpay for unproven talent.
The same time Brady was being selected in the 6th round, Bob Kraft was giving Drew Bledsoe a $102 Million contract.
I'm not down on TD for overpaying Mike Williams. I'm upset because he bought into the Bledsoe fraud the the Pats were trying to unload... Then paid him outrageous $$ for 3 years. When he had a chance to unload him after 2004 without a cap hit, he extended him and paid him close to 9 Mil in 2004....
Mike Williams had a far better year than Bledsoe in 2004, who's dead cap hit is 4.3 Mil. We could have used that $$ for a top UFA or towards resigning Nate. Mike Williams has his best football in front of him ( not behind him ).
>>>No top 10 pick is worth the $$ . The NFL teams are forced to overpay for unproven talent.<<<
Orlando Pace, a first selection, took away ANY fear of a blindside pass rush and enabled an Arena League castoff to lead his team to a superbowl.
Blue chip LTs are worth their weight in gold. This is why they go so high on draft day. Under achieving RTs are not, but I do agree that there is time for him to earn his money, even at the RT slot.

huh? I dislike Blair. I think he's slimy and not to be trusted. That said, I'd probably take him over Bush because I think he actually has his own mind and can think for himself, plus the special interest he serves are not a bunch of right-wing religions fanatics and big fat bloated corporations.
We hung Britain out to dry in WWII - the Brits have cause to be grateful to Japan for Pearl Harbor. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened....
Who was the president when we "hung them out to dry?"

Equally sickening is the thought that Big Mike will probably count as much or more toward the cap than Pace or Ogden. He salary consists of more than 10% of the Bills entire salary cap allotment.
I am thinking that 05 will be the year which decides his future with the Bills. To earn this kind of cash, he needs to play RT ala Erik Williams.
How many of you think that this will happen?
It could, but I am not banking on it.

Take away the "idiot" part, and look at AD's answer. It was an ethnic stereotype at its worst; one that Hillary would deem inexcuseable if a conservative said it.
C'mon EIL, this is rather simple stuff.

>>>>>You know what Bill? You really know how to keep the rhetoric flowing... I am learning a lot!<<<<<
Not sure what you mean here but thanks......I guess.
Tony Blair was there for us while the bodies of our fallen police officers, firefighters and civilians were still warm. Do you remember how soon the Brittish battleships sailed toward Afghanistan after 9/11? The chips were down, and Blair put his brave soldiers in harms way to aid and protect our country.
I will always consider Blair to be one of the great world leaders of our time.
-
You're an idiot. If "thinking more on the subject" led you to believe it was OK to reduce one of history's important figures to nothing more than a degrading stereotype, you should either think less or seek professional help. Oh that's right, Hillary Clinton is a Democrat. Soldier on.
Ouch!
The strange thing is that I believe that he truly DID take the time to consider the comment, and found it perfectly OK; perhaps even a good thing to say.
The "liberals" of today tend to be an odd bunch. They do and say most of the things that they claim to despise, and then throw stones at others for not wanting to obey the "rules" that they so readily enact.
I could easily be wrong, but I dont remember the "McGovernite" liberals as being "do as I say" people, but I was very young.

Well, he is disliked. The is a majority against the war (and of those that support the war precious few are Labour party supporters).
But his main opponent's unpopularity would probably have had him losing to Dracula in the Transylvanian elections, let alone a sharp political operator like Blair.
No real alternative = another Blair election victory.
When you guys are done with Blair, send him over here.
I guess there are plenty of wacko leftists in America who dislike him, but I have not met any. He is probably one of the most popular persons in the USA.
I understand that many Brits are against the war, as are many Americans.
That said, thank you for being true allies. Imo, the Brittish are a great, strong people with the courage of a lion, and we rely on eachother like no 2 countries in the history of the world.
God bless the great United Kingdom, and thanks again.

Hey Lana, I could be wrong, but I am thinking that there will never come a day in which you are "unwelcome" on this board but hey, that's just me.
-
No, I probably shouldn't do so, but I am going to butt in here.
We all watch football games in a different way. AKC watches football games and sees more than most of us. His style of posting on this board is serious and analytic.
Make no mistake, he has been involved in major disputes on this board before (so have I
). I remember one with a miami fan, "Des." It was WAY worse than what you people are doing now, but I state for a fact that he grew to respect Des, a poster that I do truly miss.
ajzepp, I believe that you are an asset to this board. The "post count" is, as AKC stated, unimportant. I think that you are a pretty smart guy, and a very good Bills fan. Forgive me for saying this, but if you take a deep breath and read some of AKC's posts, you will learn something. There are a handful of posters (I do not include myself), who take this thing that we cherish to another level. I hate to do so, but I will name some names.....
Badolbilz, Lori, Simon, SDS (when he does post), Mark, Bob Lamb, Mickey, and some others watch this game and see more than an average fan, or even an average fanatic.
I think that you and AKC will eventually develop a dialogue which you will enjoy. Again, it has happened before.
Let me also say one thing about the "good old days" of TBD......
There were other posters, especially an anesthesioligist with a screen name of "Doc," that were absolute walking football encyclopedias. Because of the lower volume, it was easier to read what they had to say, not having to sift through the sheer number of postings. An intimacy also did form which can still be seen on TBD. Weddings, births, deaths, college admissions/graduations, illnesses, etc. were shared here, and we supported eachother. It still happens, and the sometimes scorned "old-timers" such as AKC deserve much credit.
In summary, I enjoy your postings. I am glad that you are a contributor to this board. SDS gets on my case every so often, but he has built a great thing here. He has granted us a forum to talk about a subject about which we are passionate with some pretty cool people. I am not generally one to make a ton of friends, but I have forged a great number of friendships due to this great site.
I am thinking that you two will agree more often than not and cool out.
Now might be a good time at which to start.

I have been thinking about what she said. What if it was taken as a compliment? Isn't it about attaining the American dream? Is being a gas station worker such a bad thing?
It may not really be a bad thing? Owning/working a shop should be a proud thing?
Maybe she was just pointing out the prevalence of Indians attaing the American dream?
Was it really demeaning? Can you tell me why? At first I thought it was demeaning?
She was talking about Ghandi, a national hero! Her comment was made in the context of a joke!
Whether or not one thinks it is funny is of course up to them, but again, this hag would be leading the charge to crucify a conservative who uttered something so ill advised.
I give you credit for thinking about it. At least you TRY to see both sides of the picture. You are unable to, but trying is a good thing.

In the hypothetical a starting DT is about 10,000 times more valauable than a backup RB- but that isn't exactly how this plays out. We just haven't seen enough of Anderson to see if he is:
A) A capable tackler in the run game
B) Durable enough to play a season as a 2 down Tackle.
We HAVE seen enough of Edwards to realize those two keys are not his strengths. He's just fine in the pass packages and Krumrie appears to be able to stifle his ADD enough to play for those snaps. Bascially Anderson is the wild card here- the staff knows a lot more about him than we do.
That said, if they beelieve in TA as a 2 down guy we're simply looking ofr depth among run stoppers. Now the hypothetical moves to "what's more important, a backup at RB who has starting quality running ability or a backup DT who might be average at this point in his career?"
It's a good question. Traylor's vet min should be in the same dollar range as the Travis cap hit, then again if he'd sign for a min. contract we'd get the cap exemption- and under that rule why not keep 'em both? The deciding factor would be whether someone else offers him an above min. contract.
Another factor is injuries. Remember when the Bills drafted Sam Cowart? WE were chock full of linebackers. Then, they seemed to get seriously hurt all at once. Moore, Holecek, Covington, and others dropped like flies. The same thing could happen now.
YOU my friend are responsible for alerting this board to the fact that the DT position is becoming more important. I agree.
I am saying that if this football player is healthy, he is of more value to the Bills than a known miscreant such as Travis Henry. The Bills need more pass rush from the middle. This is certain.
Again, I am certainly not privy to health issues. What I do know is that I would rather have a healthy Traylor than a proven loser as is Travis Henry.

Thank God!
My thanks go out to all of the brave Marines for protecting my family and my country. I trust the Marine leadership to sort out the validity of allegations launched from scumbags against our brave and wonderful troops.
I for one will always support you. You are the reason why my wife and children are able to thrive. I urge you to do what you need to do to stay alive in the face of the scum that you are up against.
Please accept my never ending thanks and full support, and this of course also extends to those in every other branch of our great armed forces.
God Bless you all, you are true heros!

You raise a GREAT point wrt the fact that in all probability, Bannon will be cut.
We can all like him if we choose, but he is not a very good football player. Traylor is. The problem is that it is hard to be considered "good" when compared to a comparitively low salaried stud such as Vince Wilfork, thus the cut.
PS: With players like this being released, I am hoping that some here will see the distinct possibility of a wayward stumblebum such as Travis Henry being cut.
His 1 mil. cap figure could mean something in terms of signing a big, strong football player who plays up front.
I ask you, my fellow Bills fans, which one would YOU rather have on our football team?

"Bills general manager Tom Donahoe is sticking to his guns. He wants at least a third-round pick in exchange for Henry, who lost his starting running back job to second-year man Willis McGahee last season."
TD stated numerous times early in the off-season he wanted at least a 2nd round pick......
how is he sticking to his guns? he has obviously backed down from his intial demands.......
Is his value getting lower?
Please, keep my quote as your sig, and let's see what happens, OK?

I once watched a debate between two idiots...Rick Lazio and Hillary Clinton.
Lazio ran over to Hillary and shoved papers practically in her face, yelling nonsense about "soft money."
I was offended, but less so than my wife. She viewed this act as unmanly.
At 49, I am probably twice as old as at least half of this board. I am sure some of my views are considered by many to be worn and passe, but I was not raised to think it OK to make seemingly or in fact violent nor obscene gestures toward women.
Perhaps this ill mannered behavior is part of the evolution of our nation; I dont know. Count me as one who finds it inappropriate.
PS: In spite of the above, I oppose the censorship of Howard Stern. The women on his show place themselves voluntarily in situations that invite ridicule.
Ann Coulter did not.
Just the opinions of a man trying to keep up with a changing world.

I do not agree.
What good is having a guy on your roster who is not prepared to play when the season starts, who will pout like a littlebitch in the locker room, and who will walk after the year is over anyway? Why would you pay $1.25 Million for that? Sorry if you've explained this 4,783,698 times before, but apparently there is one dumbass on this board you have yet to edify in this matter.
Besides, I said that was what I would do if I were TD. If you read closely, it is not a prediction.
Not only that BB, I believe that NFL GMs have a unique relationship with eachother. While most occupations do have an element of professional courtesy of sorts, these men are also in direct competion at the same time.
For instance, if ALL TD could get for TH was a 6th or 7th from Denny Green, do you think that he would take it, or cut Travis? My guess is that after their fiasco, he would rather cut him and force Green compete with other teams, assuming that any other team has any interest at all in this sub-par player.
I am thinking that TD and DG no will longer have a very good professional relationship, at least for a period of time. Otoh, we can take to the bank the fact that a true football man like TD DOES have good professional relationships with other GMs around the league. Perhaps Parcells is one.
In summary, TD failed to get anything for TH in the 05 draft. That said, he still stands to gain 1 mil. in precious cap space by dumping Travis. I believe TD when he says that he will not "give him away" BUT, I dont think that this will stop him from cutting TD if need be.
Either way, Travis will be gone before the season starts imo.

BB, welcome to my world!

No it is not all in fun! I think Mario Cuomo said something about how comments like this are even worse when spoke at the dinner table, in the privacy of your home... More inscidious?
The problem is that at the voting booth... The drop-off in candidates far out weighs her awful statement.
Again, with either party, why "throw the baby out with the bathwater?"
We are talking about a football coach and players he directly has POWER OVER... A politicain REPRESENTS YOU (by winning the majority vote--- which might no be you but, you respect that).
Whose to say the shopowners won't vote against her?
>>>>>Whose to say the shopowners won't vote against her?<<<<<
Ah but EIL, why should ONLY shopowners be that offended by her racist remark? Shouldn't we all be somewhat miffed? Besides, are all Indians shopowners?
Believe me, I do NOT aim this remark at you personally. You have made clear your disdain for her comment.
What I offer is that this is the same Hillary who was leading the charge against Trent Lott (an admitted idiot). Why has the huge majority of the left just written off HER racist statement as all in fun, etc.?
Answer: Because they are holier than thou, rule-making, behavior controlling, self-absorbed, tax increasing hypocrites, and I think that many voters see this from a mile away, thus the imbalance of power.

Honestly, I think that it is even worse than that. I think that they will write is off as "all in fun," and accuse conservatives of having "no sense of humor." This if they have the courage/inclination to respond at all.
Btw, I agree with you. I would be very wary of a man this stupid coaching my children.
Just upgraded several software packages...
