  1. I used to believe the above. This year, Williams convinced me that he is a very good player. He is strong, very quick, and knows where plays are going. Imagine what he could do in a 4-3 with a good DT next to him. I will never be sold on him as a nose tackle. He isn't that type of player. Even some huge guys such as Sam Adams or Pat Williams are not true nose tackles. But, Kyle is more than just a "plugger," or some other cliche that people use for white players (smart, lunch pail, etc.). He is a skilled defensive tackle that I would take on my team any day. Hats off to AKC, wherever you are. Every word you posted about the importance of defensive tackles was true.
  2. Thanks for a great response Brian! I do disagree in that I think that Parcells was a far better coach than Levy. Mostly, because of Levy's inept philosophy of stressing defensive backs, and not caring enough about the lines. We lost a superbowl to Parcells because he knew enough to pound the ball against us, and our team was much more talented imo. Imo, Marv was great at soothing big egos, but was not a football man. Parcells was less of a football man than say Joe Gibbs; he was more of a Lombardi type imo. He tormented Phil Simms, but he got a sb win out of him. And, he beat us with Hostetler. Parcells was never reduced to being a cursing, screaming, spitting, inept manager as was Levy. He alays had full control of his team. When the Bills talent waned (and much of it was directly due to Marv's input imo), Levy was ineffective. He would spend games cursing on the sidelines with Mauch. It was ugly. He had no clue. When he came back as GM, he proved just how little he knew about building and running football teams. The 06 draft is still crippling this franchise, let alone his hiring of buddy Jauron, who shared a similar stupid philosophy. Marv seemed like a nice man, but imo a lot of other, better coaches would have won at least one superbowl with a team with this kind of talent. Jmo.
  3. How do you think Parcells stacks up as compared to Marv Levy?
  4. By the same token, if you think that my posts are bound to be absurd, you should probably refrain from reading them. Having said this, if you read my response to Ramius, I debunked any "conspiracy theory." I am sure that Coach Gailey will want to win this game and well he should. My point was that in life, the rich do get richer. A win here would be would be an example of this. One more thing.....just because I choose not to be a chronic ass kisser of every move this team makes does not render me less of a fan than you. I spend a good deal of time and a lot of money being a Bills Fan, and I have zero regrets. But, I want them to win and I speak out about good and bad things the Bills do. I kinda assumed that this is a substantial part of this website is for. In any event, thanks for the dialogue. I enjoy it.
  5. OK, but he is an old school money man. If you and I know that the possibility of saving 5 or 10 million does exist, my thing is that so does he. Rookie cap with the new CBA notwithstanding, Mr. Wilson will make a big profit if the Bills win this game because they will draft later. This stands to reason by any stretch.
  6. It isn't as much a conspiracy theory as much as it is an observation about how life works. If you think that this is an attack on Mr. Wilson, it isn't. I happen to be fond of the man. I only wish he would stay out of the war room.
  7. I don't know the exact, or even approximate numbers, but losing this game might cost Mr. Wilson between 5 and 10 million dollars just in terms of a signing bonus on draft day, no? This is not to mention higher salaries. Along the lines of the rich getting richer, the Bills will win this game in a romp. Just a hunch, but we shall see.....
  8. I hear ya, but Whitner didn't make plays under Fewell/Jauron either. Btw, isn't it interesting to see the Giants defense collapse? They are getting torched, and they would seem to have twice our talent. Is Fewell better than Edwards? I'm not too sure, but the amount of damage that Levy did to this team by bringing in poor coaches and poor players is enough to stagger a herd of elephants.
  9. Can I try? Imo, Whitner is a publicity machine. The fact that some fans on this board think so highly of him astounds me. Seriously, how many GMs do you think would rather have Whitner than Leonard on their team? Leonard made more plays than Whitner when he was here, but didn't have half of the fanfare. Go back a while, and you can list defenders on the Bills who stepped up and won, or saved games for the Bills. The list would include players who were not superstars. John Holocek once had a game winning tackle against the Patsies. I saw Schobel take over a couple of games. Pst Williams was on fire in the Jax game that Flutie got all the credit for. Geroge Wilson sealed a game with a pick. Whitner? He gets destroyed week after week by tight ends. I am guessing that most TEs actually look forward to going against him. Now, would he play better with a stronger front 7? I would say so. This is why I wouldn't have minded keeping him at a lesser salary than the 29 million he was paid for 5 years of low production. It's true; why create a hole? But, for the kind of money he wants weighed against his production, that extra 4th round pick might be enough to fill the void that the departure of Donte Whitner would leave. Am I making sense to you?
  10. The reason we are here is because we are loyal Bills Fans. BV is a respected, intelligent poster who has the right to complain. There are 2 huge reasons why the Bills are bad: 1) They use extremely high picks on defensive backs while neglecting the front 7. 2) They consistently have huge holes in their OL, and draft running backs with the other top picks. Then, because they are unable to produce, they trade them for middle round picks. These seem to be never ending scenarios. We finaly got rid of Levy/Jauron and what do we get? Spiller at #8. And, yesterdays game was a microcosm of exactly what is wrong with this team. Poor blocking, poor tackling, and top ten first round picks coughing up the football and giving up touchdowns. How satisfied would you like BV, or other loyal fans to be?
  11. I envy you, as I wish I could watch a football game with my father. May God bless you both, and I wish you a great holiday season.
  12. 1) Congrats to Spiller on his one lucky pass reception, but his fumbles were brutal, as was his entire game. He was a disaster today. But, the real disaster wrt Spiller was the day that the Bills wasted a #9 on this stupid, virtually useless little smurf. 2) 6 minutes left. NE was up 31-3 and Belichick went for it on 4th and 9? I should be above this, but I despise that m.f. 3) Kelsay was all pumped after his sack in the 3rd quarter, no? I guess he forgot that he sucks. He is a sub-par football player. 4) The first qtr. td by Woodhead was all on Poz. He couldn't shed blocks, and had a lousy game today. 5) Fitz stunk up the field. I guess he was entitled to do so. Right, or no? Is he our long term answer? You tell me. 6)I liked watching Welker drop passes. Screw him, Brady, Belichick, and the entire Patriots organization. 7) On the first drive, both OGs were blocking like monsters. After that it fell apart. 8) On the play before the early 2nd Qtr. TD, Whitner had a very nice tackle. Of course, it was after a long gain where he was torched by Gronkowski. He wants 7 mil per year? Actually, he is a sorry, suckass, small waste of money. I really do hope that the Bills withdraw their offer to him and usher him out of town. It would be a great step forward in terms of cutting ties with the stupid, losing era of Dick Levy. 9) The Bills would win one, perhaps 2 more games next seson if they had a good right offensive tackle. They are manning this position with utter, absolute garbage. I understand that OTs don't sell tickets, but winning football games does. You can't win football games with garbage at OT. The Bills are living proof. 10) Troup was on the field but showed nothing. This sucks. However, Carrington did appear to be alive. That doesn't suck. 11) Arizona won, and this is a good thing for the draft. 12) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Badol, I would tend to assume that intelligence would matter less at RB than at any other position. It would seem to be a place where a player relies a lot on instinct. I think he has other problems as well. He seems to go down very easily as well as hesitate way too much. I never, ever could understand this selection in a football sense, and saw it as a marketing ploy. The thing is, he hasn't produced the break away runs to draw fan interest. This pick didn't fit with the rest of the draft (which imo has a chance to be a very good one). The remaining picks were quite sensible imo. At least they set out to make the team bigger snd stronger on defense. I suppose it isn't too late for Spiller. He still seems to have a great deal of fans who think that he is a very good player, or at least will be. I am not seeing it, but stranger things have happened.
  14. I don't think that I have ever seen a TE more suited for the Buffalo Bills football team than Kevin Boss.
  15. It's true. Before we talk about how Whitner communicates, we should talk about his clutch, game changing big plays. OK, now that that's finished, I wonder what cell phone network he uses?
  16. I think that being a Bills Fans has left all of us so astounded over the years that often we don't even know what to wish for. Btw, I am including myself here, no doubt. Last season we had 2 good running backs, yet most fans were delighted when they RAN to the podium and drafted Spiller for virtually no reason. Now, Fitz is lighting things up on a team which is a step above horrible, and I actually find myself hoping they draft Mallett. In essence, this places me in the same category of those who I was (and btw still am) sure were not at all able to see the clear picture of what is wrong with this team. Imo, there is SO much to be determined by what we do in these next 2 games. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if we somehow beat NE or the Jets, especially with this foot video going around. Who knows, we might win both and draft in the middle of the pack! Would this surprise you? One thing I WILL cling to: This team will be a bunch of weak sisters until we have a pair of big, strong, mean offensive tackles. Defenses will beat us until this problem is solved. Period.
  17. Another question if you don't mind. How much money do you think it would take to lure Kevin Boss to Buffalo, assuming of course he isn't adverse to signing here? Based on his performance, how much would you ask if you were his agent?
  18. Do you take the climate into account at all when you post something like the above? Btw, I am in full agreement wrt drafting rbs in round 1. I do however strongly feel that running the football is more important in the elements than it is in a dome or in warm weather. This of course involves blocking.
  19. Unfortunately I agree. Levitre, a very solid OG imo, did not play well at all vs. the phish.
  20. The bold is true, and I don't pretend otherwise. Doc, I am only trying to make a point. I'm not even trying to win an arguement. My point is that while I laud his agility, I am afraid that Bell isn't strong enough. I want him to do well but this team has taken quite a big chance on him. Maybe you don't agree, but imo the Bills, due to the climate they (along with NE and NYJ) play in, need blockers who can open up holes for the run, and of course protect their qb. I like Gailey and Nix, but those comments about Spiller making the OL better were insane, and I said it way back then. Take me to task all day long. I love the dialogue, but as a long time Bills fan I am admittedly gun shy from watching quarterbacks get bloodied and bruised. If Bell is to be THE guy at LT, so be it but he does need to be a lot stronger imo. Wrotto is praised here but he looks like more of a stumblebum to me. Have we seen worse at RT? Of course! We are Bills Fans! So anyway, I'm not hating on Bell, even if it seems so. But, the Bills, imo, continue to need help at the OT slot in order to be a strong team and contend. Are we getting closer to a consensus?
  21. I have never been an advocate of moving Bell to RT. He isn't a bruiser, which was my problem on that sack. Bell was out muscled by a player who is listed at 251 pounds, a rookie at that. In my OP, I did admit that this particular player looks very good, but I have an issue with Bell being shoved aside by a LB, or pushed after a play by a defensive back (this happened last week). Say what you will about Jason Peters, but NOBODY was going to toss him around. Bell is very agile. He has good feet, but I am afraid it is because he is light in the ass. I would love nothing more than for him to be a probowl, long term LT for our football team. My fear is that he isn't big or strong enough to do this, and imo this is something that a smart organization would not take a chance on. Jmo.
  22. Thanks John! I never blasted the 2010 draft, other than the selection of Spiller. Nix has made a living for many years finding talented players. I am not worried about this aspect of his job as GM. What I do worry about is interference from "upstairs." And to his credit, he brought us Gailey, with whom I am quite satisfied with as a head coach. Despite the southern drawl, there is something almost stately about him. I feel like he is really teaching his players. I believe that Gailey and Nix know that the team needs to get better on both lines. They absolutely MUST know this. Levy/Jauron were primarily about defensive backs, special teams, and playing not to lose. I have a feeling that if Mr. Wilson lets these men run the team (especially the draft), the Bills will soon be playoff contenders.
