If Spiller fails this week...

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FIC, he gets open. So does a healthy SJ. Our needs are SO clear to me (this doesn't make me correct btw). A speed wr would be great. I am all for this, but we need pass rush and pass protection first and foremost. As bad as it looks right now, this team can be good imo. -
Walter Football Draft prediction: WR??
Bill from NYC replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Demitrius Bell says hi as well. He is on a gurney, and trying to improve to 10 reps with 225. -
Yet another great post from KOK! The bolded part is what is so amazing. I have been on this board for more than a decade, and have watched many posters come up with better drafts than our paid professionals. Badolbilz (Dick Drawn) and R.Rich stand out, and Astrobot and others do research that is better than that of our front office. Did Marv Levy once say that he wouldn't have drafted Patrick Willis under any conditions (or something like this)? Could one make this up? This draft would appear to be a snap, especially with our record sinking like rock in a pond. As bad as we are, I still think that a solid draft, OK, maybe a great draft, would push us right back into respectability. I am in my fifties, and would rather not wait to see what a small, frail D. Bell can do at LT. I am tired of watching Kelsay and OMG S. Johnson at OLB. All we can do is hope that or management is able to see what is killing this team and causing ulcers to it's fanbase. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I am glad to hear this and I thank you for posting this. I have praised him up and down all season and he has been a bright spot for this football team. I wasn't too impressed by his antics at the Dallas game but so be it. Let's hope he gets well and goes back to work. The Bills need him now and in the future to have a fighting chance at respectability, let alone being good. -
The 2006 draft was as bad as I have ever seen, but what would one expect from Levy/Jauron? They also spurned a probable hall of fame Ngata for Donte Whitner. And in the process of doing all of this, it cost them an early 3rd round pick to trade up. The Spiller pick would have been awful even if he was good, and he is not. I'll say it.....he sucks. There ya go. To add salt to the wound, Gronkowski, a kid who grew up In Williamsville, was picked 1 freaking spot after Torrell Troup. He looks like Dave Casper with speed, and nobody could identify local talent such as this? And we desperately needed a tight end!!! The 2012 draft reminds me a bit of 2006. We need pass rushers and OTs. There seems to be a lot of them out there. Now, do we go after a defensive back, a ticket seller (Spiller), or a player who can step right in and make this a better football team? History is not on our side, but there is always hope to cling to.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And he will get more carries. It's a situation once again of where yet another Bills first round pick was drafted WAY too soon. And btw, the "bpa" theory annoys me to a degree. People are still calling Spiller the bpa. It is no obvious that he was not, and it's up to our professional staff to identify who is the bpa. That said, please read what "Dick Drawn" posted in this thread. When a marginal backup DT is playing OLB, your football team has serious problems. I am just a fan posting on a message board, but I can tell you that this team needs some Alabama LBs and some offensive tackles. Pass rush and blocking have been their problem for more than a decade. Amazing. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

Astounding no doubt. When I saw Johnson listed as a starting LB I winced in pain. It beats me as to how a profesional team could allow this to happen. -
1) Hey David Nelson, would you mind taking your head out of your ass? We understand that you have a hot girlfriend and we are all impressed. Today however, your game sucked, and it would be great if you worked on it. 2) Please, spare me the complaints about Levitre, OK? Thanks so much. He had no business at OC. Period. 3) A football team that starts Spencer Johnson at linebacker is not a football team. Lets stop kidding ourselves, shall we? 4) Not too impressed with Pears today. Never mind..... he flat out sucked. And to those of you who are ready to annoint Hairston as the next Orlando Pace, do watch the replay. Raise your hand if you were happy with his play. 5) Sheppard is perhaps a breath of life to this football team. That safety was mint. 6) Let me guess: The third quarter punt return by Spiller is going to justify the selection of this absolute waste of #9. Am I right? 7) Aaron Williams had a tough game. He wasnt getting beat per se but he was getting schooled like the rookie that he is. I don't have so much of a problem with that believe it or not. 8) The wheel is turning and you can't slow down You can't let go and you can't hold on You can't go back and you can't stand still If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will 9) Horrible, inexcusable drop by Smith in the second quarter. The thing is he should be utilized more like Tebow. Does anybody disagree? 10) Spiller sucks. Yes, he flat out sucks and I wish he wasnt even on this football team but maybe we will get lucky and get off of a conditional seventh round pick, which would be steal for this loser. 11) Chandler is a football player. I like this guy more week after week. They should call up his agent tonight and offer him a long term contract. 12) Ok, Fitz didn't look great today but balls were bouncing off the hands of his receivers. There is no excuse for this. 13) Ultimately, it doesn't matter. Win or lose we still are the greatest fans of any team in any sport. Yeah, I have a knot in my stomach and I'll probably toss and turn tonight. Tomorrow I'll be pissed, and then I'm gonna shake it off because I love the Buffalo Bills football team. Right now Im asking for a pass rush and help at OT. But I suppose this is all I've ever been asking for. 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PFW - The Bills' cornerback woes
Bill from NYC replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How anyone who has been watching and caring about this team could disagree with this is way beyond my comprehension. Seriously, you said it all. We either stay within the realm of the Levy/Jauron idiocy or we don't. More pass rush and more blocking will take this team to the playoffs. To use our best resources on the secondary will keep us at a 6-10/8-8 level. -
Sure I have. Have you seen our pass rush? It is so bad that folks are upset about the injury to Kelsay, a so-so pass rusher. Sanchez looked like Joe Montana against us. Secondary play improves when a qb doesn't have all day to throw.

So true.

fresh killed turkey for thanksgiving....

A great thing to do is stuff SWEET butter (NOT salted) under the skin of the breast. It will be much more moist. Use as much as you want, it really does work. -
Not to touch on a sore spot, but its the same wrt corners. We JUST used the second pick of round 2 on a corner, and people actually want to use a first round pick on yet another. The play of all of the corners is down because we have the worst pass rush in the NFL. As we speak, out best pass rushers are a 340 lb. Dareus, and an inconsistent Moats. This is unacceptable. The most frustrating thing about being a Bills fan is the fact that answers to our problems stare us in the face, however management usually fails to address these glaring needs. That said.....GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the Bills lose on Sunday
Bill from NYC replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is going to be a tough game to win. We are VERY banged up and the dolphins appear to be hitting whatever stride they are capable of. I really do hope that Brad Smith gets a lot of touches. It will help to preserve Fitz behind this depleted OL, and I really do think that he can win us a game. Jmo. -
I strongly agree. This year, the Bills have a top 5 back and a TE who is utilized. if his fantasy numbers are lower, who cares? And, he is doing much better at hanging onto the football. The Bills are a mile under the cap. There is no reason not to sign him right now.

DID U EVER STOP TO THINK....

LOL!!! -
Good post Bob. Even I, the king of the offensive line complainers, admit that the Bills need pass rush more than anything else. That said, I am not 100% sold at LT. Hairston is an unproven kid who shows some promise. Bell has proven that he can man the position but he is constantly hurt and may not have what it takes to stay healthy in this brutal football league. Again, I liken him to a poor man's Jonas Jennings from what I have seen. He's a little light in the ass imo. Pass rushers are hard to get. I hope we can snag Courtney Upshaw, but I really believe that once the combines are over, he will be a top 10 pick. I hope I'm wrong.

No he isn't.....Look at his screen name.

Is Tebow turning the NFL upside down?
Bill from NYC replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His game will be interesting as the weather changes. My instincts tell me that he will do well in the snow. -
The above is a perfect post. Thank you. Many don't understand just how much the 06 draft hurt us. It wasn't only Ngata we missed on. Remember Davin Joseph, Nick Mangold and much more. As for Houston.....Wade Phillips is a defensive genius. Period.
-
Dave, what was the Aaron Williams selection? Nix said that they spurned trade down numerous trade down offers and took him. Does he count, or must we continue to waste all of our best resources on defensive backs? And btw, imo, Whitner was an even worse pick than McKelvin. Trust me, I was absolutely sick to my stomach when they took McKelvin. But wrt Whitner, Levy said on Sirius that he turned down offers to trade down, and one of them involved more than just another 2nd round pick. The 2006 draft was stacked, and Dick Levy screwed it up to the point that the damage is only just starting to go away.
-
Agreed Dave. They can however make things right by going after Donta Hightower from Alabama. He will be, and probably is already a better ILB that either of them. Courtney Upshaw, Hightower and Nico Johnson are as good as any set of LBs in college that I have ever seen in my life. If we get at least 1 of them (I'll take 2 thanks very much), our defense will be bigger, stronger and faster the minute they hit the field.
-
NOT to be a wise guy, but what SHOULD he be telling them? That they are a group of non blue chip, over-achievers? Have you ever wondered why the Bills have so many udfas and 7th round picks who contribute? It's because we can almost be counted on to tank with early picks, the latest fiasco being Spiller. Gailey had these guys performing and believing in themselves. Now they are beaten down by injuries, the OL, and pass rush. Nothing new here. But, they topped last years number of wins, and they are in a good position to correct their problems. If the go after a first round RB or DB, just tell yourself that things will never change. Nah.....Gailey isn't the problem.
