Pocohantes calls for impeachment hearings...
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to The Senator's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm absolutely ok with the perception that the/A president had the balls to say "***** off" repeatedly, and with malice, to his enemies and to enemies of the state who set up a scheme that put him at personal and political risk. I'm ok with future actions that are lawful in thought/word/deed that serve to protect his presidency and hamstring his enemies. I also support the declassification of material harmful to the democrats, Obama, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe etc for both transparency and the greater good of all Americans. The answer to your question, btw, is that the opposition party will "check" the president moving forward, with a demonstrated willingness to say, do or support anything real or imagined that achieves their goal of annihilation of the man and his agenda. -
You read that as snark? Not her style, but to be fair he's written the equivalent of "War and Peace" on this subject, but unlike that wuss Tolstoy, DR went on and wrote the prequel , sequel and personally worked up the genealogy of all the players outlined through the new millennium. So, literally, to reply with detail = patient man.

Pretty amazing how the crackerjacks newsies at places like the NYT, WaPo and everywhere else never got wind of any of this, what with all their sources and all. -
Awesome you can do that with your father. Have a great and memorable trip!

NYC Municipal Green New Deal

I am sorry, but you sir are flat out wrong. When you scrape the sky, you potentially let in space. While this may lessen the impact of greenhouse gases as they escape to the nethersphere, you open a hole for things like asteroids, stars, and aliens dropping in with their space junk. Maybe you think asteroids landing on your house would be "cool"...i don't. And I guess aliens are good for the environment, huh? Do you even have Netflix? -
Excellent point. The Yankees first black player (Elston Howard) joined the team in 1955. Jackie Robinson was quoted by Howard's widow as suggesting the Yankees had to be forced into integrating. 1913-1955...that's nearly 45 years of the Yanks not reflecting the values of the Yanks.

what you're looking for is unreasonable Bobaloney. I am confident in stating that if you allowed the opposition unrestricted access to everything that happens in every administration, the average term for a president would by 6 days, 4 hours and 11 minutes. The average tenure of the director of the CIA would be 48 seconds. Trump is the hero here, warts and all.

It's time for us all to recognize that virtually every part of this debacle was political. We go from Obama and Clinton mocking Trump for concerns about the integrity of the election, to Clinton and the dems losing their collective minds about the integrity of the elections once she lost, to learning that Obama and his crew were asleep at the wheel--and worse yet, awake at the wheel---while the russians were doing what governments do, to nearly 900 straight days of the might and power of the US government kicking in doors, going through the dumpsters, conspiring with BWBI (Brits with Bad Intent) to "Hey we didn't find anything that we could do anything about" (V1) to "That somnabitch may have been thinking about something we don't like" as if they are the political descendants of Chairman Mao. If you're comfortable with the thought of a political party acting like the KGB, of jerking around for 50% of the term of a president being wasted on bs that has been adjudicated as "it is what it is", and of round 2 for the dems being to push their agenda and hamstring the president on thought crimes--just be careful what you wish for. We know--with certainty, what Obama, Clinton, DOJ et al did. If the new approach to politicking has to be "Win at all costs", no one wins--exept of course, the extermists on one side or the other.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I see this type of ambush journalism and wonder why these people are stuck in the 1950s. They seem almost unbelievably entitled, from the obligatory microphone, to the repetitive trance-like questions, to hovering around like a vulture all buttoned up with the goofy joke closing where the anchor snorts along with him. I pray that while this is happening one time, the reporter loses his footing and falls head first into the vehicle as the door is being closed. Mind you, I don't pray for serious injury or death, maybe just a little embarrassment when the reporter cries out as the door slams on his shoulder. -
I think Barr was attempting to get out in front for average Americans. He's under no illusion that trump haters will bury it and move on, and in spite of a massive governmental investigation with unlimited resources that reveals the dems & DOJ to be either incompetent (unlikely) or corrupt (likely), you take issue with his approach? The report is being released & we know with certainty that partisan hacks combing through garbage cans came up with nothing. You can still read the report, and decide Barr (of all people in this seedy point in American history) is dirty if you sp decide. Respectfully, his approach is item number 11,513 on the list of important issues that freedom loving Americans should be concerned about. I personally hope that Trump declassifies data that reveals how really bad this was. And, I hope he does it in a way for maximum political gain at the next election.

I thought the setup was brilliant on Barr's part. Explain what happened factually, leave a bit of wriggle room for a partisan journo to imply Barr was working on behalf of the president, and journo implying Barr was dirty....then telling her the narrative actually came from Mueller report. Masterfully done.

Your boy Simon got an edge. ? Great read about something I know nothing about. You got deception, greed, villains and heroes...plus words like f-bonnets and graphic imagery about tire-slashing vandals. Thanks for sharing. -
It's a big deal to some, not to others. Just the way of the world. The pyramids, should they be destroyed one day, just another day in the life of eternity. I'm with you on this one, but people just see the world as they see it. Thankfully, for those who see it as we do, there are obviously many others who feel the same.

Those attempting to do harm to the country by leaking inaccurate information should get the boot and good riddance. If their actions are criminal, pursue them like any other criminal. I'd think that wise regardless of who is president, even if it was Hillary, which it's not, because she lost badly. You are correct as usual. More bogus reporting about bogus fears designed to draw attention away from the main issues.
-
you may be correct. However, it's not their role in the game to make sh:t up and often it just makes thing a whole lot worse. Common sense suggests that if the cause was "construction accident", they've pinpointed the cause and more can be shared than "construction accident!". That can unravel quickly, and sane people recognize that violence would always be unwarranted. The crazies don't like to be lied to, though in fairness they ain't always crazy about the truth either.

Well, Shepard Smith is just another in a long line of hypocrites pretending to be objective while pushing a narrative. For God's sake the entire news industry is built upon speculation and innuendo. As for speculation, someone earlier wondered aloud about the speed in which authorities seemed to proclaim/imply the fire was a result of construction at the cathedral. I have known more than a few cause/origin in cause investigators over the years. It seems likely that absent something along the lines of a French plumber admitting "I try to zolder zee pipe near zee rafter and how you say "Ah sheet it caught zee fire", that's pure speculation as well at this point in a fire this massive. Hell you could have a construction worker with an axe to grind start this fire. Very few people of faith would accept "Construction caused it" until verified, and it's human nature to speculate. I would assume it would be the same at any mosque, temple or the Taj Mahal.

Keep everything you want. Once gone, it's gone. There is always another thing new to nag about. Next thing you know, you're manscaping your beanbag and carrying a man-satchel because "that's what all the French guys do". Signed, Concerned in Cheektowaga -

What constitutes 'ocean activity', and if I understand you correctly you live in the tropics and only use AC when absolutely necessary? -
Again, watching the crazy leftys trip over themselves again with Barrs testimony is priceless, and pathetic. If we look back in time, by now these idjits would have had Trump in jail, Comey McCabe et al still living the cushy life of the entrenched apparatchik, and new Prez not-Pence happily going about the business of screwing over ordinary, hard-working Americans who's crime was to vote for someone Obama and his cronies did not approve of. Yet....not at all how it went. Now, after getting nut-punched time and again, from No Collusion to No Obstruction to the reveal of a deeply and hideously flawed obama administration neck deep in corruption, some still see a shiny beacon of morally acceptable wrongdoing by rationalizing that ends justify means. Lets flush out the rats, punish them and move forward so the next time a dem carries the day, we don't have to settle with grumbling "well they did it to us..." when malfeasance occurs.

Socialism fails every time
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to BeginnersMind's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The will of the people is a funny thing, and while I personally think Bernie Sanders may be one of the biggest posers in history, he seems to appeal to some as a caricature candidate. NY accent, represent a small state Vt, disheveled appearance and catchy lines like "I don't want to hear about her damn emails!". Add to that the fact that his own party kneecapped him in 2016, maybe he gets the nod. People will vote against their own self interest, especially when they are young and idealistic. That said, he faces the same scrutiny as everyone else when he becomes THE guy. Let's take a deep dive into his background and business dealings, who he has associated with, what skeletons are in the closet and all his wife's business dealings. That's when the fun starts. -
That clip is interesting. Of the three people shown--Nadler, Lieu and Owens, the only one that seems remotely credible is Owens. I know the democrat narrative will be that even though Lieu deliberately distorted what she said to position her as a Disciple of Hitler, and even though Nadler rushed to his defense by citing committee rules that exist to allow members of the committee to destroy-by-innuendo, Owen's visceral response to this debacle shows she has something to hide. Same tactic used on Kavanaugh with the same trumped up phony charges. Owens eviscerated both these dipshits, and they reacted as the shitbag politicians that they are. Lieu with his best vacant stare, Nadler with a dimwitted shoulder shrug after she popped him the nose for missing the point before capitulating with a simple "Please...:. Candace is a serious individual.
