You keep believing you’re playing 4D chess by installing a career politician with a history of racism, physical/sexual mistreatment of women, gladhanding and legislation designed to keep the disenfranchised right where they were when he started the journey 5 decades ago. What a delightful, complex yet simple parody of a thinking person, the modern lib. You got 1980s politics positioned as hope and change. 🥳🥳.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Ole Transpy’s on a roll today, replete with references to people long gone to other places. It’s like you keep driving through the old neighborhood and can’t quite adjust to the new neighbors. Alan Parsons said it best: Time.... flowing like a River... Today’s fresh hot topic: Trump supporters! 😂 https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/548185-one-in-five-still-say-they-wont-get-covid-19-vaccine-poll https://www.rand.org/news/press/2021/03/01.html I think the best way for the Fauch and Joe and the crowd to alleviate concerns of the historically disenfranchised is to force compliance. Maybe seize assets (some could go to pay off those college debts from the Transpy Goes Wild days?), set up a gulag of sorts. Or, maybe they set up a serving station at the next Portland riot. Free Molotov with a vax? You’re free to walk in lockstep with the govt because really, what could ever go wrong there? Your thoughts on forced compliance are extreme given the brief snapshot in time we’ve been dealing with the virus and the absolute lack of confidence that the CDC and govt leadership has inspired over the last 17 months. Wear your mask in the bathtub if you want, leave others to make their own choices absent the threat of tyranny. Signed, Socially compliant, masked up, and dbl vaxxed Ps: Have you forbidden your in-laws from visiting since they’re super spreaders? -
I saw that as a trick question. I have a gift on that sorta thing. I’m eclair voiyant.

The level of stupid in this thread could fill a 2021 Porsche Cayenne, widely acknowledged as one of the most bigoted cars on the planet. Hates everybody, not for skin color, religion or the like, but because people wander up to it, press their greasy faces to the glass, breathing all over it in this time of COVID and when it’s time, folks hop in ass first and ride it like a $2 Parisian *****. Sadly, were that Cayenne to be stolen, hate and all, we all know that the insurance payout for some would be higher than for others. And society weeps.

So much hate. So so much hate and intolerance.

We should definitely look for a leader with fresh ideas who hasn't spent five decades intimately involved in the criminal justice system, the tax code, and health care. Or, let's be bold and get a lifer who has become quite wealthy, and brought his family along for the ride in the Bentley.

I knew a kid that was going to sing “Hey There Delilah” at a talent show and totally forgot the words. I also recall a presidential candidate who thought all men and women were created equal this big cat. That made him executive office material. It happens.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

At one point the numbers were projected to be 25% high. Anecdotally, my neighbor passed away after 6 months of intestinal issues, blockages, sustained diarrhea, inability to thrive all post-cancer treatment, developed COVID in her final hours and was a victim of COVID. In a country of 330m it’s fair to wonder how many other cases followed that path. Also, as pointed out by another poster, we’re losing 1000 people a day yet suddenly restrictions are being lifted? 300,000 victims is acceptable? I really don’t want to hound you on this, your reply is thoughtful and I appreciate it. I rarely get a reply on the confounding question that has bothered me for a year now: In a worldwide pandemic as described above, how on earth can there be any justification to allow protests regardless of the righteous nature of the cause to go unaddressed for months on end? I’ve been torn on the rationale: 1. The understanding that mass gatherings lead to spread, often to the most vulnerable in our society, and suffering and death was the ultimate goal; 2. There was a much greater understanding about how the virus spread and we were lied to or at a minimum, manipulated. 3. Blissful incompetence; I respect your confidence in the info coming out of China, but I’m a skeptic. As far as pulling together, I’m a lifetime get-along guy. I come from a large family, and I’m square in the middle. However, as I get older, I’m much more mindful of who(m) I meet in the middle and I’m not all that interested in meeting some anymore. If it matters, I’ve followed every protocol recommended including quarantining after a trip to Florida when our @$$hole governor came up with his ‘virus don’t spread from adjoining states’ angle. As for a lockdown, as I said, compliant folks locked down in thought, word and deed. Tens of thousands ignored the lockdown week after week after week contributing to the spread. Hardly locked down. Thanks again. -

Do you think the US fudged our numbers? I understand your perspective on Trump and national strategy—as well as left wing/MSM panic, but we never actually had a lockdown regardless of which perspective one takes on this. We had many, many folks complying, masking up, staying home. We had some folks not complying and going about their day as best as possible. We had massive gatherings week after week after week with people from all walks of life arriving from parts unknown. We had Trump and his angle. We had the Dems and their angle. We had science rationally speaking to the compliant and whistling through the graveyard on the other. We had the MSM wringing their hands with a daily death count, ignoring any investigative work into spread caused by mass gatherings, and the infection/count reporting changing in tone around January. It was exceptionally difficult to trust any of the parties involved. -

There are no Bryant and Stratton Golden Nanny Goats either, Mup, but you don’t see me crying out in anguish for all the world to see, do ya? The Irish are birthed into a life of pain and misery. We. Move. On. -

You have more faith in the DOL than I ever will. I have no issue with annual advisory fees (beyond not quite wanting to pay them), but as you pointed out—an upfront sales charge (or contingent deferred) may be a less expensive option for certain folks and keep them where they need to be. Breakpoints, household of etc all plays into that complicated process. My point is just because a fee is charged, a product sold or a transaction takes place doesn’t mean someone is trying to shake you down...as the bureaucrats like to imply. You making 1% of 2m isn’t a problem though site a fair amount of money, so long as the client values the service. As they say, cost is only an issue in the absence of value. I wouldn’t trust Dave Ramsey as far as I could throw him, but fundamentally recognize his system works if employed and human nature does not work against it. As a lead source, I’ll bet he’s great. He sends disciples. And, as I said, he’s a great salesman and I mean no disrespect in that regard. -

I agree wholeheartedly. Interestingly, I’ll hear someone speaking about a Dave Ramsey, for example, and align with his demonization of sales people. Frankly, I don’t care one way or the other if people like him or not, but the irony is he’s one of the great salesmen of our time. He sells books with the plan, then updated books with the updated plan, total money makeovers that get updated with new money makeovers, trusted pros, memberships...survival guides all of course wrapped in The Glory of Jesus The Christ. Brilliant. The DOL ruling was a power grab, again positioning how everyone is trying to F you but the government. The last thing they want is empowered people speaking harshly about over-reliance on SS. Can’t recall the context, but one our local politicians sent a form letter designed to educate constituents about the tyranny of fees and used an example of hypothetical returns with a conclusion that would get a CFP drummed from the Corp. To boot, it could have been written in crayon, read like an elementary school student wrote it. I agree with you on the need to teach this stuff in schools, but again, education is good...too much real-life education is empowering, and that’s not all good for the system. -

Part of the challenge is people are conditioned to be distrustful of people like you, and it strikes especially hard with the “Biden can save us” mindset crowd. Personally, I think the notion of a “coach” in the financial services sector makes a lot of sense. However, seems to me the messaging delivered from govt is always tilted toward “someone is always trying to f ya”, and again, people looking to be saved are easily convinced it’s true. I partnered with a professional coach about ten years ago and had exceptional results. Of course i discontinued after about a year because, well, duh. Interesting you take issue with the poll question. 7 of 17 respondents ran righty into the loving arms of Mother Gov. not sure there was a toll when they got there— but seems the format was spot on.
