  1. Next up: Eisenhower! Biden’s hands were tied by Ike in the summer of 19ought59! Don’t blame Biden for the Ike Hike!
  2. I didn’t tag you on that note, it was meant to be confidential!
  3. The first one is cartoonish and makes me look like Wile E Coyote. The second one is ostentatious and I have a fear of heights. 🫥
  4. Reached out to my cousin and friends in Chicago/burbs to ensure they were ok, thankfully so far all are ok. Hope that applies to everyone here as well. I appreciated the avatar suggestions last week and can’t recall if we addressed that later on. It’s just that I’m a loooooooooooooone wolf, and you can’t cage a loooooooooooone wolf. Sure, I just scheduled a visit with a local ENT specialist for some hearing issues, and yes, I didn’t want to work today because I spent 2 days partying (level 3 out of 10) with the family this weekend, but still, I’m a loooooooooone wolf at heart. 🐺
  5. You’re caught up in a classic “Tiberian Loop”, whereby poster A yells “It’s all you people!”, and poster B (in this case, you) responds rationally to engage in debate. Poster A, generally a simple fellow, responds “Jan 6”, “you hate the country” or “Move to Russia”. Tiberian Loop…it’s a thing.
  6. The criticism ship has kind since sailed. The job of the opposition is to hammer inconsistencies, point out flaws (real or imagined), and paint the committee members as untruthful and unreliable political hacks. None of this is new, either.
  7. Maybe, but the information, disinformation, speculation by media, pundits and talking heads is most definitely a part of it. Calls for transparency are not new or unique to this hearing.
  8. It’s always darkest before the dawn. Steady, Captain.
  9. I couldn’t agree more with you on this issue. I don’t know that R v Wade guaranteed access to abortion in the time/place of a child’s guardian’s choosing, but that’s a topic for another day. In this scenario, would you advocate for full, unrestricted access for abortion thoroughout the entire pregnancy? Or does the viability of the child come into this discussion somewhere along the line as you mentioned the other day. Also, when does childhood end and adulthood begin in this scenario in your opinion? ps: Thank goodness for those perpetually happy democrats who love and trust all.
  10. I don't know what 'manspreading' means, but let's not lose track of how this played out and why it went the way it did. I responded casually to another poster on a subject. You entered the chat with a rather presumptuous demand that I "reply with a published/peer-reviewed post-July 1988 scientific research paper...". I could have replied with a haughty "Nah", but that's not the way I choose to communicate. As for the pandering, rambling "Let's make the old guy uncomfortable by accusing him of mansplaining, devaluing the role of women in this and any other society, and menstruation", please, spare me. If responding to your post and offering perspective-be it that of a flat earther from your perspective or not---leads you to conclude that I am attempting to woo you with my worldly knowledge, that's on you, not me. I am completely capable of putting a sentence together that includes a request for you to join me on my climate journey. As I recall, I've indicated multiple times, on multiple subjects, that I value your input and consider your perspective. I'm not sure what your beef is with Kendall Jenner, but since you've lumped me in with the knuckledraggers already, all I can say is "Cat Fight!". I acknowledge choosing my words carefully with the 'trust' comment, and yes, I thought it was kind of funny. Fortunately, I'd think, your laptop is made from hand-woven hemp and leaves of lilac and would do precious little damage to the mud covering on your quonset hut yurt had you actually thrown it. Then again, you probably throw like a girl and hit the environmentally-approved designer labradoodle 15 feet away from the target. I am now at 50% MMGW, down from 60%, because after your response, I'm near certain you're in on "it". Additionally, when I left the house today, I removed the empty water bottles from my recyclable bin and tossed them out the car window along the road side just to be defiant. I have considered this option, but thank you for shining your light into my darkness. Ah, this is interesting--the schoolyard taunt supersized to include certain catchphrases and buzzwords designed to....excuse me..:::yaaaaawnnn:::..shock and fluster. The challenge for you here is that as every good citizen knows, at some point in one's life, you're probably going to encounter someone who deploys this tactic. It's impossible to control who might have a momentary lapse in judgement, or be suffering from some sudden onset psychosis, or just be overwrought emotionally at any given point in time. So, your observations notwithstanding, the only issue for me is how I deal with it. I see two options: Option 1: Conflict resolution strategy suggests that when confronted with this level of emotional and hyper-aggressive outburst, the best course of action is to keep your eyes on crazy, de-escalate the rhetoric, speak in a calm voice and remove oneself from the sphere of nuttiness. Option 2: Meet the problem head on, consider the relative worth of that which you have shared with me, and respond that perhaps instead of lashing out, you might look inward at the toxic, almost patriarchal level of animosity in your heart. It's hard to psychoanalyze the behavior from afar, Delete Kay, but if this particular episode occurs more than occasionally, I'd suggest it meets the criteria of Intermittent Explosive Disorder. I've included a link from the Mayo Clinic for consideration: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/intermittent-explosive-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20373921 Checking the symptoms, I had you at 0 prior to this exchange. I now have you at 5. Look at this, not one p-with-an-exclamation-mark-nes reference in this entire paragraph. Thanks for the history lesson on Karl Marx, and clarifying why Comrade was part of your screen name. While you were furiously studying to study, I was probably in English class. Well, actually, I was probably 42 years old propping myself on the bones of the working class, but in context, I was in English class. There, I learned that when a question is posed as "....do you think plants suffer from being harvested for consumption..." it's an over-simplification to limit your analysis to the traditional concept of 'pain'. Be that as it may, I'm not the only one thinking about such things, Kay. Some of your Vegan pals rationalize it as follows (though admittedly they dumbed it down as well): https://www.peta.org/features/do-plants-feel-pain/ Let's just jump to Comrade Kay's reply to my reply: YOU &%$ing &*^%wit FAT %$@ PEN!S FARMER!!! THE ONLY &^%$ING THING BETTER THAN THE %$#@ING EPA IS BINGE-WATCHING THE %$#@ING VAG!NA MONOLAUGES ON A CARBON %$#@ING NEUTRAL TELEVISION! MOTHER EARF ETC ETC %$#@ING ETC!! The Viz is off the table. I limit my exposure to this sort of nonsense to never, if possible. ***Oh, on the plus side, in the imaginary HR scenario I laid out the other day, I want you to know that after your reply, I would withdraw my imaginary complaint. The thought of having my F250 (17 miles per gallon, less when I leave it running with the AC on while grabbing a pack of smokes from the 7-11) set aflame makes me sad.
  11. Kemp has lost his marbles. “No one” is responding, disputing or replying?
  12. Thanks for clarifying.
  13. This is an interesting angle. A woman with an absolute right to choose has to get a doctor’s approval?
  14. “Epicurus? No, I haven’t seen him.” -God
  15. What a great segment by MK. Fair criticism of Trump’s actions, with a devastating takedown of the dem dog n pony show.
  16. It could be a complete coincidence that Biden is at the helm when Putin chose this massive invasion. That it happened on the watch of a political lifer, whose tendencies are well-studied, well-known and well-established cannot be discounted. That Biden is on record as wanting to destroy the fossil fuel industry, and is out marketing the Putin Price Hike while seizing on the opportunity to pimp electric vehicles is a consideration as well. Is the invasion of Ukraine really a bad thing for his agenda? Frankly, when considering his threat to withhold badly needed aid to Ukraine as VP if the government did not bend to his will immediately makes you wonder how concerned he really is about the people in Ukraine at least as it impacts his agenda. This issue will tied to him like a stone, as it should be, and as he would do to his opponent.
  17. Ugh, enough with the legacy politicians. Cheney will be incredibly popular with the Dems until she’s no longer necessary, at which point a story will break that she had farm-style relations with some old guy who’s kids she babysat when she was 15. Then again maybe she can be part of the über-unifying Liz/Hunter ticket with Chelsea Clinton as Sec State, Jenna Bush as press secretary with Sasha and Malika as jr Senators from Massachusetts.
  18. #1. Tacky and I’m not partial to the confederate colors; #2. I like that one generally, a lot, but feel the smell of death all around me as I look at it. #3. The hat brim is too big, the fat on that guy hits too close to home, and who the heck wears Man Uggs fishing? (You hurt me with this one, Muppy). Oh—something I meant to tell you about the power of the internet to bring people together. The other day you tagged me on the lyrics to Tuesday’s Gone. I like that song and always did. So, I saw the lyrics, got the tune in my head, grabbed my headphones and listened while I walked the dog. I was sad af after because, you know, Tuesday’s gone with the wind, but that’s not on you. 🤓
  19. What a mess! (Hope you’re on the right track now Irv!)
  20. That’s the beauty of “I understood someone to say ________”. We call that a rumor in the real world, and very little good comes from such things unless you’re a Real Housewife of Atlanta. We learn this by age 7 or so, but suspend the rules for political issues.
  21. And you have every right to respect the hell out of the woman you likely didn’t know existed until yesterday, Mup, it’s just a very tall ask in this setting to expect non-like-minded people to do the same. On your thoughts with THIS committee and this hearing, again, it’s an unreasonable request. It’s a political committee, nothing more, nothing less. The wisest course of action for anyone on the opposite side of a tribunal of this nature is to refuse to cooperate to the extent possible, and to decline to answer questions when it’s not possible. It doesn’t change if you have nothing to everything to hide. Btw, on the larger issue of “if you have nothing to hide…” I’ve been blessed with some good friends who know and work around law enforcement and litigation. The general guidance I have been given is this: If you’re approached as witness to an event that did not involve you in any way, shape or form, theres generally no downside in providing a statement. If you’re on the periphery of anything beyond that, know your rights, exercise them and seek out professional counsel. Most importantly, avoid the natural tendency to explain everything in great detail. Truth and justice are sadly quite malleable, Mup, and it’s your best interest to consider the agenda of those asking the question. I’ll take your advice on the avatar and think about it. I thought about going buck wild and changing to an S, but I was concerned folks would think I’m getting all fancy and the like. Remember these words that everyone knows to be true until they’re riled up politically and want to accuse others of being part of a cult or mongrel zombie horde: Politics make strange bedfellows.
  22. I think she plays on a different field than the rest of us, Mup, and I have no idea what she gains or loses here. Perhaps she has legal or financial issues and is being squeezed, or a family member is up for a government contract. I think the declaration that she’s respected, honorable, truthful or anything else is interesting due to the fact that before yesterday, the vast majority of the American public had no idea who she is. Next up,of course, is “she seemed credible”, for saying she heard a rumor. There’s no Easter Bunny here, no benefit of the doubt, no requirement that people view things objectively because the committee or this previously unknown person is pure of heart. Silliness of content—I heard from a friend who heard from a friend, Trump grabbing the wheel of the presidential Fiat, Trump was completely unconcerned about guns—can be called out as silliness whether she’s under oath or not. Liz Cheney, btw, is alleging, without evidence as they sometimes say, “witness tampering”. The downside is she’s lying or fails to prove it? Nothing. You say “bring it on”, the fact that it’s been on since 2015. Time after time, the one common denominator has been political maneuvering and allegations of everything from urine-play to chicken nuggets thrown at the wall to now, guns at rallies because obviously 100% of the attendees were vetted as 100% supporters of Trump, a guy averaging at one point 6-8 death threats per day. Meanwhile, the rule of law crowd lasted until last week, when suddenly calls for violence, ignoring the rule of and hateful rhetoric rule the day. I’ll pass.
  23. Exactly as I suggested above. We’ll say it was your idea. I’m skipping ahead a bit, but when what happened here today clicks for you—and I’m confident it is not entirely impossible that you one day you will think for yourself and learn, I wouldn’t be offended if you played this at PPP graduation:
  24. We can’t undo the past Tibs, my guidance to you is a matter of public record. Let’s move on.
