It wasn’t my contention, Chi, it was yours. You said the rumor was that “Cheney didn’t want to go hard after GOPers”. What “fairly mundane” actions by GOPers would result in the 1/6 committee “going hard” after anyone? No parking pass displayed in the Congressional lot? Leaving dirty dishes in the Congressional sink? That notion in an of itself reeks of political shenanigans. Why would Thompson want to pursue mundane issues to begin with? Silly internal squabbles would just detract from the work of the committee. We were told this work was vitally important, and that this went beyond Dem and Rep politics and what mattered was the truth. Liz Cheney has been anything but a shrinking violet here, now you seem to be suggesting that failure to acquiesce to her demands might have caused her to fracture the work of the committee? Would she sell out the truth in exchange for political leverage, or even threaten to do so? I’m still confused by what’s in this for Thompson if the truth was his goal. He easily could have outed Cheney if she was strong arming him. If, as you suggest, the political committee acted politically to protect some members of Congress while targeting others, the entire body of work is suspect. What an interesting turn of events.

She may be the face I can't forget A trace of pleasure or regret May be my treasure or the price I have to pay She may be the song that summer sings May be the chill that autumn brings May be a hundred different things Within the measure of a day She may be the beauty or the beast May be the famine or the feast May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell She may be the mirror of my dreams A smile reflected in a stream She may not be what she may seem Inside her shell

This is an interesting take. I just re-read Thompson’s opening statement about getting to bottom of what happened. He referenced the officers who held the line, the rioters storming the halls of Congress looking for Nancy Pelosi, of gallows in tow as some looked for Mike Pence. It was inspiring stuff, and he and Liz Cheney outwardly seemed committed to telling the American people the truth of what happened that day wherever that lead. Then I got back to thinking about what you had to offer on the 1/6 report being less of an unvarnished and raw recap of what happened and more of a political-protect-your-cronies-at-all costs reimagining oh what they wish it might have looked like. I guess if we’re speculating on a report that sounds quite flawed to begin with, it makes sense that Cheney and Thompson both had political allies they were sworn to protect? Maybe they discovered unprofessional behavior or dereliction of duty by those ultimately responsible for securing the building on that fateful day? Or perhaps there was some coordination between rioters and dem politicians to allow access or breach security to implicate Trump? The most likely scenario seems obvious—there is no way in hell that the Capitol should have been overrun by people without weapons, without a plan of attack and military-style coordination. Someone f’d up, badly, and it was likely someone close (or useful). to both Cheney and Thompson. Mostly though, I think how you and I have pretty much the same opinion of this committee, but that you like the result while I wonder why they didn’t really want to get to the truth and share that with the American people. Instead, we get just more reason to be distrustful of the gangs of DC and how they operate. Kudos to @Orlando Tim for asking the right question the right way.

So…a supposedly hard-hitting investigation into an attack and occupation on our Capitol was overly-focused on Trump, had one member of the panel selling out the American people to avoid shining the light on members of her own party, and the democrat majority were completely comfortable with being handcuffed to the extent that all the American people hear are “rumors” of this betrayal? Even assuming this is the case, which part of the process wasn’t political? Why would the honorable Thompson, Lofgen, Schiff, et al agree to such cuckholdery? More importantly, given the rumor that they protected other potential enemy combatants and the truth has yet to be revealed, why would anyone accept the report of the committee as accurate and truthful?

We’ll have to disagree. I see no indication you understand poverty at all, but I do think you understand trolling. -

Seems to me Roundy is a troll, just looking to throw some cr@p out there to see what sticks. He tossed a couple lines out in an effort to race-bait, and when that failed launched the post about “the good stuff” being looted from chains and Family Dollar. -

Roundy says if you teach a man to fish, he can fish, but if you teach a man to rob the homes of neighbors specially targeting electronics and flat screen televisions in excess of 45” screen size, he can binge watch Netflix all year long. -
Sadly, he sent that to the Allied troops huddled along enemy lines in the European theater.

Now factor in that the US Government has designated your employer as public enemy #1, and telegraphed there is nothing they will not do to take that person down. They will spend years investigating anyone in his circle, leak details of the investigation to the media to shade the story, execute armed raids, threaten anyone in the circle or their families, offer deals in exchange for cooperation, and when one avenue closes, they simply pursue another. Consider that the IRS has reviewed, questioned and accepted 50+ years of tax returns and still the narrative is he’s guilty of tax crimes, and that politicians on both sides of the aisle push that narrative. Consider no collusion, no wrongdoing and political persecution, and the fact that it didn’t matter that nothing was found. In the end, it’s a forgone conclusion that they will get Trump one way or another. They’ll find something, or find enough to convince a friendly jury. They’ll break him financially. They’ll break him emotionally. Maybe his health will be destroyed because of the stress, up to and including his death. The fact is, it will never end. The only outside shot is he acquiesces, agrees to not disclose what might be harmful to national interests or embarrassing to DOJ etc, and rides into the sunset. When you look at the big picture, why would anyone not say whatever the government wanted them to say?

Treatment of opposing team fans(your experience)

You killed her, Mup? You crazy girl, it’s just a game. -
So…I lose track of when that happened, but I am certain I had issues long before that. I’m talking no less than 15 problems. My issues may have been unique, but one time I taped a game, got home and the screen showed the Bills game, but the screen was dark. 45 minutes later, through the customer service quagmire, they told me it was a glitch and the recording didn’t occur. Neve gonna happen. I hung the phone up, was getting ready to shut the tv down and the game started playing.

I’ve have DTV solely for the Ticket, and really solely for the Bills for about 20 years. I hate it. I am guaranteed to miss one game per year, and one year, I missed two games, one at a second home we bought. DTV is a killer of dreams, a place where hope and decent customer service goes to die. I’ll probably cancel.

Come on man, you missed the signs. A widow lady, in distress, the milk aisle…waving you down for help? By 80 she surely swings by the local gas station and grabs 10 to 12 hazelnut pods because she likes her small cup of coffee “light”. She probably hasn’t bought creamer since Jimmy Carter was President. Half and half is the upside down pineapple of the dairy world. It’s a story as old as time, my naive friend, and there ain’t no expiration date on dat.

Confess, your kiss still knocks me off my legs. The first time I saw you was like a punch right through my chest And I will forever, 'cause you'll forever be My one true broken heart, pieces inside of me, And you'll forever, my baby be. You will rest your head, your strength once saving. And when you wake you will fly away, Holding tight to the legs of all your angels. Goodbye my love, into your blue, blue eyes, Your blue, blue world, you're my baby blue.

Methodical drive lasting nearly 6 minutes, leaving no time on the clock for last minute heroics, a stake through the heart and The End. It was beautiful, man. -
So far away Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're just time away Long ago, I reached for you and there you stood Holding you again could only do me good How I wish I could, but you're so far away

Thanks for the reply Mup. I appreciate it--and I hope you take my response(s) in the spirit intended--dialogue between two people with different perspectives interested in opinions other than their own. Here we go: Respectfully, you didn't answer the question. I'm not aware of anyone on any side who doubts the Russian government would attempt to influence our elections. I'm not sure you would find many people who wouldn't think our government interferes in foreign elections where our national well-being was in play. (By the way--this was the finer point I was referring to when I opined about Trump talking about what he saw as president, not much stolen elections and the 2016 election). The question is--were the leaders of the democrat party, and high ranking officials, who stated emphatically that Donald Trump was illegitimately elected, or took power after a coup, or was guilty of treason in the run-up to his election being truthful, fair and honest with the American people? The answer of course is no, they were not truthful, fair or honest and just offered their branded version of "The Stolen Election". If they were being truthful, you wouldn't need to speculate about smoke and fire. This was modern day McCarthyism, nothing more, nothing less. So, from the perspective of a Trump supporter during that time, all I can tell you is folks on the other side were completely comfortable with destroying Trump and anyone around him as long as it gave them what they want. I respect that you don't like him/detest him/hate him. If his faux Christianity is a deal breaker for you, fine. If you don't trust him, fine--but let's not pretend that Joe Biden or the modern dem party is the party of decency, faith and fairness. Show me a "Biden is pure" voter and I'll show you a person who whistles and looks the other way at a two page list of Biden's very, very sketchy behavior. Trump says some women let him grab them...I think he was being truthful however vulgar he might have been, people are supposedly outraged. Harris says she believed the woman who alleged Biden violently assaulted her--and to boot Biden apologizes for fondling women because they didn't quite understand him---the same outraged people don't seem to care. If the worst elements of Trump-real or imagined--were poured into a back-slapping politician, he'd be Joe Biden. See Mup, you switched here to the big picture without really dealing with the issue. All I'm reading is that you're more comfortable with your liar than the other liar, happier with your groper than the other groper, prefer your race baiter to the other race baiter, and most importantly----much more likely to support the version of stolen elections because in spite of what you just wrote about both sides----you defaulted to where there is smoke, there may be fire. There was fire, Muppito Bandito, you were just looking on the wrong side of the aisle. It's not really a can of worms when you dial it back to what you said a paragraph up, and when you consider the last several years of American politics. Donald Trump wanted to be president no more, no less than Joe Biden. He certainly wanted it no more, no less than Obama, Bush before him, and Hillary Clinton. In fact--they all wanted it so badly they would divide the country by saying first "YOUR GUY WAS AN ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT PROPPED UP BY RUSSIA" followed by "THE ELECTION WAS STOLEN". They are two sides of the same coin, the only difference is the language used to convince 'their people' that their cause was right and just. One of the keys to political manipulation is to convince your side that as right as you are, the other side is just plum crazy. I read you loud and clear, and as always, appreciate your thoughts and you taking the time to answer. I know for you it's like wearing an itchy sweater to post here. LS
