I think he was very frustrated. He said that on Monday when it happened. Think about this though. They had a half to make adjustments. Nothing changed. I can certainly see how that would fluster Tiki. This game was at home in front of 80,000 rabid Giants fans and with Giant legends such as LT and Carson on the sidelines. And they laid an egg in all facets. Should have have publicly said it? Probably not a good idea. But he did. I think it takes guts to do that. In any event, Tiki is right about one thing. They need to comeback with the mindset that that game was unacceptable.

And in other news, the Jets trade Curtis Martin, Levaraneus Coles, Justin McCareins, Shaun Ellis and their number one pick to Houston for Vince Young!
-
Agreed. I hate when athletes back track from statements which are right on the money. Tiki had nothing to apologize for. The Giants staff did a poor job Sunday.

Well, I got a reality check for those callers who believed the "Super Bowl" hype silly writers like Mike Lupica referred to. It was NEVER happening. I back you up on Losman. I can't understand why so many Bills fans are jumping off the bridge cause he struggled mightily in his first year where he had some starts. Eli struggled too. QBs take time. As for my sig, I stand by it. The Steelers' success is based on their ability to run the ball. Big Ben is hardly ever put in a position where he has to make more than 20 throws. You could argue that the Giants' success was similar in relation to Tiki. But Eli wasn't limited in the pass game. He threw it a lot more. This isn't to say Ben is not a solid QB. He is. But I think some tend to overrate him.

You got to be kidding Kraze. I'll ship Allen off for a used jock strap! -
I can definitely see how a fan here might get pissed from that. I hate ESPN. They think they invented sports. I got one for them: "Without most of the nonsensical programming on that channel, sports would be a lot better off."

The thing also about Smith is Carolina does a good job isolating him on plays. Against the Giants Sunday, they also threw some quick screens to him and with his speed, he can make guys miss. Plus he's a phenomenal route runner and deep threat. And what about that end around? It works cause of his speed. Plus they blocked really well. And when you're able to control the clock and run roughshod over an unprepared D, it opens it up even more.

Well, some of what you say is accurate about Eli. There were times this year where he looked really good and other times where he was underwhelming. My biggest gripe with him is his consistency throwing the ball. That and sometimes, he doesn't do a good job reading defenses. Nobody said he would be great in his first full year as the starter. He did progress. A plus is how poised he was late in fourth quarters. He was good in those situations and the 2:00 drill as well before the half. Did he have many weapons to utilize? Absolutely. And did Burress and Shockey make some great catches? Sure they did. But what QB doesn't have good receivers who can make plays? Not every pass is going to be perfect a la Eli's brother, whose receivers are always wide open. If you had guys that open with a line as good as his, you'd be able to make those throws too. The key to stopping the Giants was containing Tiki. That's true. But heck. Isn't the key to putting the QB under the gun stuffing the run? Look how ordinary Peyton looked against San Diego. When the most underappreciated player Edgerrin James doesn't have a big game, the Colts offense becomes one dimensional and Peyton- the best QB can look pretty normal. Because it puts more pressure on. QBs take time to develop. It's not all roses right away. That's why I won't go berserk about Sunday. It's a process. And let's not forget how essential a good offensive line is. Blocking is essential for any success you have as an offense. The Giants were banged up on both sides of the ball down the stretch and faced a very fast Carolina defense. It showed. They knew exactly what our offense was running. I wonder whose fault that was. You'd think our staff could have actually made some adjustments. But maybe they watched too much of USC against Texas Wednesday.

What an idiot. Maurice Clarett has a partner now. -
Palmer, Van Oelhofen et al.
NYGPopgun10 replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I can't stand is the lack of consistency from the NFL. That was a total cheapshot with the purpose of knocking out Palmer. Well, mission accomplished. I hope Van Oelhofen is proud of himself. And not even a flag when all they ever do is overprotect QBs all year. What a disgrace. The only thing the Giants got screwed on was they call Justin Tuck for a bs illegal contact penalty which kept Carolina's first TD drive alive. Meanwhile, on our only promising drive down 7 points, a Panther shoves Shockey to the ground right in front of the ref and no call. That was a joke. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about cause it probably wouldn't have mattered based on how outclassed our coaching staff was by a real coach. -
Well, they only had the ball for 17 and change. That's pathetic. The fumbled punt return off Wilson before the half was crucial because at the very least, they could have went into the locker room down a TD for as poorly as they played. What's alarming is Coughlin and his staff made ZERO adjustments. That is unacceptable. Also, pinning this game on Eli is ridiculous. The defense put them in a hole and our OC tossed in the towel and panicked. They did the same sh-- two weeks ago at Washington. P.S. Burress dogged it on his routes the whole 2nd half.
-
The bottom line is this. When you're winning, you get all the breaks. But to say that Brady is nothing just isn't accurate. He's pretty damn good Imo. Of course, if you take away the D, he can't win it all. But who can? Football is a team sport. You have to come to play on both sides of the ball.

Wow ... no love for JP?

A very well thought out post. Young QBs take time to develop. And as for Eli's baptism under fire today Bf, poor gameplanning and if I recall last year, Roethlisberger looked pretty awful in his first two postseason starts as well. Not everyone just goes in there and sets the world on fire. I think the Bills must have more patience with Losman and hopefully things will workout. -
Would you trade Losman for Eli?
NYGPopgun10 replied to billsboys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know he was bad today in the second half. But I pin this one on the defense. They were on the field the whole first half and couldn't make any stops to get our offense on so it could get into a rhythm. And our OC is a moron. They tossed in the towel on running the ball down 10 and panicked. Granted, Eli has a lot of work to do as far as improving his consistency throwing and reading defenses better. In any event, this whole trade Losman thing is pointless. Give the guy a chance. QBs take a while to develop. -
Ah. Well considering how awfully his team performed today, it would be easy to laugh.

Man, I can't go back that far . Other 80's: Goonies, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Terminator, The Running Man, The Shining, Hallowen IV and V, Hellraiser I and II, Stand By Me Richard Marx , David Bowie, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Inxs, U2, The Police, Sting, Springsteen & E Street Band, Lionel Richie, A Hot and Clean Whitney Houston, Motley Crue, ZZ Top, The Beastie Boys, Prince, Duran Duran, Live Aid, Band Aid, The Cure I loved MTV back then btw Rockpile. That's when it actually ruled. I religiously watched the Top 20 countdown every Friday when I got home from school. Also liked watching Yo MTV Raps .

He's better than Mularkey. I guarantee he'd somehow have gotten the Bills back to the playoffs. That said, I am not a fan of him and today was very disappointing but not shocking cause I expected it. Carolina was the worst possible match-up for them due to what they had in personnel and John Fox. The sad aspect: Coughlin and his coaches never adjusted at half time and gave up on establishing Barber too quickly down 10 points. That begs questioning. He ran only 13 times. They panicked as did Eli. It was just an awful day all around. Any Giant fan who actually bought into the hype should have realized this would happen. Especially without Antonio Pierce and Carlos Emmons to anchor the LB. They overachieved this year.

Willis made the "Worst List" of 2005
NYGPopgun10 replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent post. Willis still rushed for over 1,200 yards in an unstable QB situation with little offensive support aside from Moulds and some occasional Evans' flashes. And that was with a shaky line to work with. I like Willis but even I was disappointed by his comments and his silly TD dances. -

How come Jacksonville plays at NE?
NYGPopgun10 replied to Maylocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For as true as that is, they gave the Colts problems the past two seasons. Their D usually keeps them in games and they grind it out because they just don't have enough playmakers on offense. -

Because the No Fun League has it ass backwards. I don't care what sport you are. The team with the better record should always have the home advantage. -
Leftwich a bust? The guy is tough as nails. He shouldn't have been out there, which doesn't fall on him but on his coach. Leftwich stands in there and makes tough throws. He takes hits to make plays and sacrifices his body for the good of his team. Maybe if they had an actual offense outside the injury prone Taylor and the aging Jimmy Smith, he'd light it up. Their line also is not that good either.
