  1. Fitzpatrick is not a good QB, let's get that out of the way right at the start. He had some terrible throws when he was out there today, and he's certainly not any kind of answer to our offensive woes. But I saw enough to confirm for me that Edwards should get the hook. Fitzpatrick came up against his considerable physical limitations, but I saw more throws to Evans and Owens in just this game than I think I've seen all season. I'm completely done with Edwards.
  2. Do Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks know you stole their bit?
  3. Lamest super power ever.
  4. Perhaps the entire roster of each team we play will decide to retire 15 minutes before gametime.
  5. Johnson's on the roster, not the practice squad. I do agree with you that the love some posters have for him, based on nothing in particular, is pretty ridiculous. I'd say he should get on the field at this point, though. Sit Parrish down, he's an absolute liability right now.
  6. I think there's just a lot of free-floating hostility around because of how terrible the team is. Like a wounded animal, the fanbase will lash out at whoever comes near.
  7. Once upon a time I would've said the Vikings since I spent six years out in Minny. But now I'd say the Giants because my best friends are big Giants fans and I've watched an awful lot of their games over the past few years.
  8. No, Crowell's a particularly poor example. When was the last time the guy made it through a high percentage of a football season? The lack of depth on what started the season as an inadequate LB corps is a good point, but Crowell would not have been the answer to this team's woes.
  9. Why would anyone criticize Jauron for going for it? Those weren't bad decisions.
  10. Gotta agree with the consensus here, you're way off-base on this one. No way are you better off letting Cleveland get a touchdown in that scenario. It'd be one thing if they would've been able to run the clock down to have their kick be the last play of the game - but 20 seconds is enough time for teams to have a shot at a field goal. Well, competent teams. Realistically it didn't matter what the Bills did in that scenario.
  11. "I don't think that's an appropriate question for me to answer." And actually I wouldn't have a problem if Edwards answered that way. But of course this just points up the limitations of the original analogy. Maybe you could salvage it a bit if you think of fans as being customers of the company. And in that case, I've certainly asked if customers would be happy with a course of action we've undertaken.
  12. If someone asked you, "If you had a million dollars, what would you buy?" would your answer be "I don't have a million dollars."?
  13. Next week's headlines... "Jauron Fired, Kotite Brought in as Interim Coach - 'He's the man to turn this situation around,' says Wilson." Happy (upcoming) birthday.
  14. Oh man, that's right, it was the same day! Gah, that was galling. I choose to look at it as the Bills' attempt at a birthday present for me, but they can't help putting that typical Bills touch on it.
  15. Thanks for reminding me that the news of DJ being retained came on my birthday.
  16. It's hard to answer hypothetical questions about the NFL.
  17. I thought Fitzpatrick was a pretty weak pick-up as a backup, and I don't think he'll do anything special, but Edwards has shown me nothing to make me think he should keep his job. Put Fitzpatrick in; I see nothing to lose.
  18. Gotta give Denver management credit, I thought their moves this offseason were inexplicable and ill-advised, but they knew the kind of players they wanted and set to work assembling their team. I think Dawkins was a huge acquisition for them.
  19. The really sad part is that fan was playing LB on Cleveland's last drive.
  20. Is he an idiot, or does he just not care any more? Heading into this season I thought it was ridiculous to talk about trading the best punt returner this team has had, but now he's got me thinking they should just get rid of him, since he doesn't seem to understand the basics of his job.
  21. Why are you still looking for THE problem? There are multiple problems with this team, and yes, Trent Edwards is one of them. He may not be the one making the blunder at the end of the game to be the goat, but as the QB whose offense scores 3 points, he needs to be gone.
  22. It's pretty sad that the defense of Edwards at this point amounts to "He's not the whole problem." Find me the people who are saying he is. And no, criticism of Edwards for his crappy performance in this game does not mean that anyone thinks he's solely to blame. But when your offense only musters 3 points against the Browns I think it's fair to say the quarterback did not have a good game.
  23. I guess I would say I fault Bills' management for playing a key role in driving relations with Peters down to that point. I agree with you, once things have deteriorated to the point where a guy says he'll just play out his contract, getting what you can for him may be a good deal. But I don't think it had to be that way, if the Bills had been open to extending his contract earlier (i.e. at the time of his holdout), bringing him up to the level of other talented LTs. But the Bills instead opted to play hardball, got an unmotivated Peters to come in and play eventually, and set the tone for his acrimonious departure. I guess I should be happy they didn't just cut him outright. So while you make a good case that the situation was unsalvageable, I don't think it had to be that way. And it's worth looking at because the same management team that (IMO) badly bungled things to begin with is still in charge now.
  24. Losman instead of Ben R is not a good example. The team wanted Ben R but could not find a trade partner. It's not like they had the opportunity to draft Ben but opted to reach for Losman instead.
