No booze cruise for grandpa’s like yourself. Maybe a morning porridge cruise for you and your ilk?

E, couple of suggestions. 1) As @GunnerBilland @BritBill suggest, Tower is okay to miss .I am a history guy, did it first time to London, would not again 2) I love walking tours, and have been using this company since i first starting going to London in the 90's. Never had a really bad tour, but did a ghost tour with the kids and would skip that. They are great for the historic sites like Parliament and Westminster, but to me excel at the neighborhoods. Maybe you wife loved Notting Hill when it came out and may appreciate a guided tour around that neighborhood for instance. Olde Marlebone has been mine favorite over the years, granted it been a good 15 years since i have done that. Walks everyday of the week. https://www.walks.com/ 2) Think Gunner mentioned Imperial War Rooms...top notch if you love history. Get yourself there. That is part of the Imperial War Museums, and the IWM in London is prolly the best museum i have ever visited. Might be a bit much for wife if she not all into when combined with the Churchill rooms. https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-london 3) London eye to me just a giant Ferris wheel. Plenty of views to be had around London...another one i would skip for sure 4) I am more of a history guy than an art guy, but the Tate Modern pretty freaking awesome. Free and paid exhibits. https://www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-modern 5) Prolly dont have to mention, but there is some real junk stuff on the south bank where Tate Modern/Globe Theatre are located. Crap like the The Clink Prison Museum and such....you would get more satisfaction and enjoyment lighting your pounds on fire. 6) Last, we love to just spend some time wondering around neighborhoods, popping into place's off the beaten path for bite and a adult soda, finding great little shops and boutiques, and just whiling the day away. No need to have plans, jst $$$$$ 😜

Guess this makes my decision for me, I am OUT!

Yea there is Uber, but the taxis are fantastic too, especially if you have 4 or more people. Taxis can hold 6 , so don’t discount as an option. London taxis are an institution, and taking one almost always provides the added benefit of getting a free guided tour. Most of those drivers know the city and history better than many tour guides. BTW, the worm has turned on ride share Vs Taxi in my mind, and I find now that in places like DC and NYC taking a cab now is often much cheaper than taking a ride share. Cab companies knew they needed to modernize to compete, so new, clean vehicles, credit card machines that work and not discouraged etc. NYC cans were half the cost of an Uber when we were there earlier in the spring.

we will prolly wait just a little while longer but get them before say August 15th or so. I don't think will drop much either, maybe 10-15%. But with 5 folks, that's beer money in the stadium!!!! Hoping the initial buzz wears off after July 4th weekend. Either way, once I buy them, l; l time I am looking at the prices!!!!! Aint gunna subject myself to that pain!!!!
-
I am not worried , As my ridiculously rich friend @Augie says tickets really only a small portion of the all in $$$ and he has guaranteed our party of 5 tickets on him! we will wait, worst thing happens we have a great weekend in London!
-
yea, we are just taking the plunge and booking flights and budgeting $500/ticket....airbnb was booked night schedule came out. 5 of us going, get over $3K we may just say fug it, let's watch at a pub, and spend that elsewhere, but we will see as it goes

Little Help - Getting to airport after the game
plenzmd1 replied to berndog's topic in The Stadium Wall
man, this does not sound like a normal experience at all. Traffis usually still at a crawl 60-90 minutes after the game. @mrags can prolly tell ya the best lot to park. Prolly on the south side of Southwestern, as that turns into Transit which will bring you right to the airport. But 7:30 will be fine, no worries at all. Now, if we get a October surprise snow???? -
Bills have ZERO to do with this event, this is 100% owned by the NFL
-
That explains it...makes sence. So EVERYONE got screwed!
-
no one got them before 10;30
-
yea, that was a glitch...the actual sale did not start till 10:30. Whole thing is a planned glitch...think @Virgil nailed it...only tickets went to the package people and the NFL takes a larger cut.
-
Upper end zone, but like row 4 or so..92 pounds...never got to a cart..i had added the tickets...then the bot thing came out. From what i saw, less than 1K tickets available for sure, looked more like a couple hundred , all in that upper end zone section yea, part of the screw up...it put you in the waiting room, then put you in Que at 10...then kicked you right out at 10 as actual sale did not start still 10;30. Everyone did the same thing, then had to click that link in the email at exactly 10:30 put you right into buying tickets
-
Yep, complete freaking cluster. What a mess the whole way round. This is an NFL operation and completely out of the Bills hands, by why we as season ticket holders take it up the rear is beyond me. Just awful. I even got back in, had tickets selected...then it kicked me out saying i was a bot. Once i confirmed was not, tickets had magically disappeared. Complete screw job by the NFL. And why even bother on Thursday if that was all the tickets they had for "exclusive ST access"

My understaning, and it could be wrong is Bills paid that money, it goes on their cap no matter what. Now, I think Bills could retain some of his salary, but that does not give cap relief for sunk costs in bonuses -

So, i think converting salary into a bonus is at team's discretion, they can do it any time they like. The only net effect is getting paid early and making it guaranteed money..all good for the player. Reducing salary, increasing term etc..a real restructure, still needs to be agreed upon by both parties. -
Saw Goose in March at the Capital Theatre in Port Chester ...son wanted to go. Had a blast, fantastic show..and i guess that Theatre is the mecca for jam bands as they did 5 nights there. Highly recommend. Just saw Disco Biscuits on Friday here at the National in Richmond..very similar vibes, another great show. Last week saw Modern English at the Atlantis...for those who hung out in DC mid 80's -mid 90's, this is the replica of the Original 9:30 Club, right next to the new 9:30. To celebrate, they are having 44 shows from people who played in the original 9:30, all for $44..no resales allowed. 400 person venue. Freeaking Foo Fighters opened the place up. Even got the same pole off to the left side of the stage! Great rooftop bar with excellent callbacks to when DC was a might grittier! BTW, also saw the Fighting Jamesons and the Leg Warmers at the National this Spring. Leg Warmers travel the mid Atlantic and great 80's cover band. People get all dressed up in their 80s stuff, tons of fun if you are a fan of 80s music. Have Psychedelic Furs and Squeeze coming up in September to here in Richmond

wish the back to back games MN and Green Bay were this year...back then could only choose one and went with Green Bay..but damn that stadium looks soooo cool
-
As far as I know, you did not miss anything. The Boills will only say tickets are 100% out of their control and run by NFL. I think, and just think, maybe we will get a 20% boost or something like that on the lottery thing...but i really have no clue

Looking for 4 tickets to Jets Bills Nov 19

Shoot me a DM..lower Bowl, section 135, on the aisle -
we don't welcome the likes of you in the District! I don't know that there is going to be one central place for Bills fans. I do know that in my neighborhood,(Adams Morgan) there are two Bills bars..Grand Central and Exiles. ...but have no clue if they doing anything special that weekend or if they will be a gathering place. I will message them and find out. Cool hotel right around the corner from Grand Central is The Line Hotel. AdMo is a very cool place, and walkable to both Columbia Heights and 14th and U and Shaw, all happening places with tons to do day and night. Easy to get to National Mall etc as well either via Public TRansport or Uber. https://www.thelinehotel.com/dc/?gclid=CjwKCAjwsvujBhAXEiwA_UXnAGdmzMI5xm8mNEUk1G_Fd9PWCZ6AQ8VY_3uD0C1dmbaGoUa6Juee4RoCi7YQAvD_BwE As @Ned Flanders mentioned, Navy Yard/Nats Park is a very cool area as well, and the "offical" Bills bar over there is called the Bullpen. Now, I know that parcel is slated for development, so not sure if/when Bullpen will close down. Big outside bar, great before and after Nats games. Be forewarned though, the area does skew much, much younger than you and I LOL! And i assume by taking the train you meant Amtrak down from the city. Nice relaxing ride, but damn the trains between NYC and DC have gotten crazy expensive, may want to look into booking them soon if you decide that is the way to travel. Parking in the District easy peasy on weekends. And as Ned mentioned, while the Metro goes out close to the stadium, still a bit of walk to actually go to and from. If you do want to Metro out there, just take a gander at the system map to plan where to stay etc.
