By not paying the bonus it voids the remaining 3 years of the deal. I've never heard of a $50 million roster bonus before though. I don't believe any team would/could ever pay that for any player.

I actually wish the CBA would get signed today because that would put the Bills somewhare between $25-$28 million below the new salary cap. Granted there would be other teams in even better shape but still, that is a lot of money to play with.

I could see smaller quicker (high-motor?) guys at other positions on Defense but IMO you have to have big penetrating guy in the middle to disrupt the Offense and force plays outside of the tackles so that the faster D players can track them down. Ngata or someone like him in the middle would make a fast Defense more effective.

Tennessee, do you think he will play corner or safety in the NFL? Did you see much of him while he played at Tenn? Aside from being flattened by Ronnie Brown a few times, how did he play? I noticed he was the leading tackler in '04.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I'm guessing that he will be one of those guys who climbs up the charts as the draft approaches, kind of like Phillip Rivers and Matt Jones. Once teams are convinced he is healthy enough to play next year he will start moving up. If he runs drills at his pro day he will help himself a lot.

He did not participate in the position drills which is a bit of a concern. Allen has great size, can play corner and safety and was predicted by many to be the #1 safety drafted last year but he decided to stay in school. I'm not sure where he will drop but he would be a great pick in the third round.

I was watching the combine and he actually looked pretty good in all of the drills. I wasn't familiar with him but the talking heads were and they sadi he has a lot of potential and is sharp in pads as well.

Chuck Smith is a radio personality in Atlanta now on 790 the zone and today they were talking about Bobby Knight and whether or not you would want a hard ass like him coaching your kids. Smith said the hardest coach he ever worked for by far was Kollar who was the Falcons DL coach for a year or two. Smith said he was a hard nosed son of a B who kicked their ass every day in practice and whipped that line into shape. He said he was intimidating and tough but he was also extremely effective. Who'd of thought that we would actually find a coach tougher than Krumrie.

Agreed. I never said let's ignore the big name prospects, I simply stated that the TE position was relatively deep this year so insead of using the #8 pick in the first round on a TE, even a phenominally talented one, we should consider a late round TE who may develop into a great player. It is unrealistic to assume that successful teams are built soley on a strong first and second round draft. The Bills have to look for talent is the later rounds as well, especially in a position of lesser need such as TE.

Case in point, Kellen Winslow Jr. 6th pick of the first round in 2004. He was a can't miss TE.
