  1. Rivers is 6'5" and Nassib is 6"2", that's a big difference. Also, Rivers once had the ability to avoid the pass rush with his legs (don't know if he still does but he has the worst line in the league along with the Cards). Nassib doesn't appear to posses the speed and natural athletic ability to avoid the pass rush at the NFL level. So I think it's a big stretch to compare Rivers and Nassib. A much better comparison would be Nassib to Andy Dalton. A guy who will never get into the NFL top ten QB list and will forever be a longshot to get his team to a Superbowl.
  2. That is a great breakdown! The thing that separates EJ Manuel from the other two is his size, speed and athleticism. The ability to extend plays and avoid pass rushers is a gigantic plus in the NFL. To me, guys like Nassib and Dysert will be backup QBs at the next level because the are so one dimensional. They're throwbacks to a different time period when it was ok to have an unathletic QB. I know that Flacco, Brady and Manning aren't very athletic, but they're the very rare exceptions. Geno Smith and EJ Manuel have much more higher upsides than guys like Barkley, Nassib and Dysert. A big reason is because they're both fast and athletic. That is the future of the NFL and it's not going to go away.
  3. I'm with you on there not being a franchise type QB worthy at #8. However, I do hope the Bills can somehow get EJ Manuel with their second pick by possibly moving ahead of the pack in round two. I think Manuel may end up being the "Kaepernick" of this draft. Great size, mobility, and skill set, yet is still somehow downgraded by the old school group think tank. The kid just needs a year to learn. To me, he has real franchise/elite QB potential. He reminds me a lot like Steve McNair.
  4. Short, stocky and unathletic is a horrible starting point in today's NFL if you're looking for your next franchise QB. I look at him and I see Colt McCoy and Greg McElroy. I view Ryan Nassib the same way.
  5. In what universe is Ryan Nassib a better prospect than EJ Manuel? Manuel: much bigger, taller, faster, more accurate, smarter, athletic, mobile, 4-0 in bowl games and kicked butt at the Senlor bowl. Nassib: short, stocky, slow footed, horribly non accurate past 15 yards, less intelligent, not athletic, not mobile, and completely pooped his pants at the Senior bowl. I see fans on this board liking Nassib over Manuel and I shake my head and laugh in disbelief. There's simply no logical explanation for having this viewpoint.
  6. Here's a "by the numbers" QB comparison... Nassib vs Manuel 2012 Nassib had 84 more passing attempts, with 357 more total yards passing than Manuel. 2011 Nassib had 114 more passing attempts, with 19 more total yards passing than Manuel. That right there, along with their physical sizes, is the difference between a potential back up QB prospect and a potential franchise QB prospect. My gut reaction from the beginning has always been that EJ Manuel has the highest upside due to his size, skill and mental attributes combination than any QB in this draft.
  7. Nassib's "big gun" is about as strong and accurate as a t-shirt cannon.
  8. I think the Bills will be trying very hard to get Alex Smith and draft Cordarrelle Patterson at #8. I assume that they would then draft a rookie QB like Nassib or Dysert in the 3rd or 4th round. Seems they will be bolstering their defense with ex-Jets and free agents. In the "non-Alex Smith" scenario, I like...Cordarrelle Patterson (1st rd), EJ Manuel (2nd rd). With Alex Smith/Patterson/Spiller/Johnson and maybe add a top tight end in the second? Wow...the Bills just might have something brewing to actually contest the AFC East.
  9. I think that there is zero chance the Bills are looking at Matt Flynn. The Bills are either looking for Alex Smith or one of the QBs in this draft. Matt Flynn is either a push or a downgrade at the QB position to what Ryan Fitzpatrick presently provides.
  10. There are 5 QBs remaining who could start over Fitzpatrick next year...Alex Smith, Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson, Matt Barkley and EJ Manuel Now if the Bills don't sign Alex Smith and Geno Smith doesn't drop to them, the Bills will be staring down the barrel of a decision with taking a QB like Wilson or Barkley at #8 (I'm sure one of them will be there) or waiting to see if EJ Manuel is still there with their 2nd round pick (which I doubt he will be). So there is a scenario where the Bills will have Fitzpatrick as their starting QB another year. If I'm the Bills, the only QB I take at #8 is Geno Smith. If he's not there, try to trade back for a 2014 first round pick which would be used in a package to trade up for Johnny Football, Bridgewater, or Boyd in 2014. If that doesn't happen then pick either Ansah or Patterson at #8, then try trade up ahead of second round QB desperate teams to get EJ Manuel.
  11. I'll be doing cartwheels!
  12. Seriously, you can't be talking about Nassib. Is that who you were referring to?
  13. I think the farthest he drops is the Texans at pick #27. I read that the Shaub era is on thin ice and they won't hesitate to pick a QB in the first round if one falls to them that they like a lot. I also wouldn't put it past Belichick to pick a QB like Barkley in the first if he liked him. Brady is long in the tooth and hasn't won a Superbowl in a long time. Mallett can't be the one and only post-Brady plan, right?
  14. If you follow the draft writers and NFL draft sites you would have seen a major uptick of interest in Ansah after the Senior Bowl. It's too time consuming to "prove it" with links. Ansah was very impressive and from everything I've read, shot himself up from an early 2nd round pick to a sure top 15 pick with his performance that week.
  15. Don't be surprised if the Lions take him at #5. They saw him up close all week at the Senior Bowl where he blew everything up. Dude is big (6'6" 270) and ran a 10.91 in the 100 meters...LOL He's a freak who's worth the risk. He certainly won't wake it past the Jets. Trust me...anything you can pick on him about, there would be something to pick on who you'd want the Bills to pick at #8. If the Bills don't take a QB there then I could definitely see them taking Patterson or Ansuh. I won't be a boring pick, they are going to try to hit a homerun with that one.
  16. I heard on a Philly station today that someone very close to Vick was told by him that he's getting along very well with Kelly there's a great chance he'll be reworking his contract and staying there. If that's coming from Vick himself then it stands to reason that Vick is staying in Philly. So Vick to the Bills seems like a remote chance.
  17. The way he presented it just seemed like he knew what was going on. I'm not saying that I know he has inside info, but I just got the feeling that he did. The obvious connections are Vick and Syracuse.
  18. Donavan McNabb was on NFL Total Access the other day and talking up Vick being a good fit for Buffalo. Being a Syracuse alum and him probably being friends with Vick, I wouldn't be surprised if McNabb had some inside info on Buffalo being Vick's most probable destination if the Eagles do go in another direction.
  19. Tom Brady had shown the ability to bring back his college teams with his arm. What was revealed in the "The Brady Six" was that NFL teams were freaked out that he kept losing his job the Henson and that he looked so skinny and frail in person. Comparing Nassib with Brady is ridiculous. Nassib's successes came from the short, quick, one read college passing system. Brady's successes came from an NFL-like system where you have to challenge the defense with deep throws. Nassib's deep throws look horrible and rarely accurate. I get that people want Ryan Nassib to be a "Johnny Football" local boy savior for the Bills but the video just doesn't lie. His ceiling is Andy Dalton, a guy who will always be an average NFL quarterback. However I don't think he will ever reach that ceiling since his long throws are no where close to what Dalton's were when he came out of college. You can't teach that.
  20. I think the Bills plan of action is getting Alex Smith, and If they can't him then they will pick Tyler Wilson at #8 (I like EJ Manual but I would't mind Wilson). There's still the outside chance that they'll eventually get Michael Vick and pick a developmental QB in rd 2 or 3. As for Nassib, I wouldn't pick him till the 5th round or beyond since I think he's backup only NFL material.
  21. You must be kidding. There is nothing special about Nassib. Maybe you could say his NFL ceiling is him being as good as Dalton or Fitzpatrick, but that's about it. He's not fast, he's not athletic, his arm is just ok, his deep throws are not good at all. He looks scared when there's pressure. He was petrified in the Senior Bowl. What is special about him that makes you think he's a franchise player? Here's an exercise in judging a potential draftable QB...if he were to be drafted by a team in my division would I be worried for the Bills? Would you worry about the Jets drafting Nassib? The Pats? Not only would I not worry, I'd welcome it! Would I worry if the Pats or Jets picked Tyler Wilson or EJ manuel. Yes I would!
  22. With Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd being a first round pick, I would think that they will really push to get Alex Smith. How long is Fitzgerald supposed to wait for a real QB? Is he supposed to wait a few years for the rookie to be good enough? I think the Bills and Cards will be the top teams trying to get Alex Smith. If the Bills get Smith then I could see them drafting Cordarrelle Patterson with the #8 pick. The lines have been bolstered the last couple of years and now is the time for the QB and WR situation to be solidified.
  23. I just wanted to share a radio station that I've enjoyed listening to more and more online this past year. It's Philly's all sports 97.5 The Fanatic. They talk a ton of NFL football. They obviously talk about the Eagles, but what I like is talk about possible QBs in the draft, free agents, Michael Vick (who I think is still a real possibility for the Bills). The hosts love talking football and they have fun yet passionate debates which aren't done in a debbie downer way like they do on WGR. Our teams have very similar issues and the potential draft picks being talked about are some of the same names brought up here. I just thought I'd share an outlet that isn't the norm and where you can get different perspectives than what you get in the Buffalo echo chamber. http://www.975thefanatic.com/
  24. Strange decision...aren't people going to wonder why the "Nassib" thread is back?...LOL
  25. I get that he really believes in Ryan Nassib. But he's completely "off the grid" in comparison with every other known draft blogs and media. I've been following the draft since forever and I've never seen anything like this. Ryan Nassib brings nothing special to the table. Yes he's pretty good at a lot of things, but he doesn't have anything that you can point at to argue he will be an NFL star. The closest thing this reminds me of is when Mike Mayock went koo koo crazy for Blaine Gabbert. I think these guys get in love with someone and feel desperate to be the only one who saw greatness. Mayock is still trying to recover from the Gabbert fail.
