  1. The Jets are the only team in the NFL that the Bills actually look afraid and intimidated to play. Put it simply, the Bills are Rex Ryan's b__tch. He knows it and sadly the Bills know it too. I think Rex encourages the tough guy talk towards the Bills because it's been working for the Jets since he took over.
  2. I was worried about the Jets game. Because while a lot had changed in the offseason, what remained is that the Bills (while clearly undermanned in the secondary) still seem intimidated by the Jets. It's been this way since Rex Ryan took over. I don't think they fear the Ravens like the do the Jets. They always seem to play them well. So I'm hopeful for a good performance this week.
  3. One play that I that think would have success and should be a semi-regular part of the offense is the flea flicker. With our very good RBs and the opposing LBs crashing down on handoffs to CJ or Freddie, having them flip the ball back to EJ should open the middle of the field tremendously. I also think the EJ needs to have about 6 planned runs/draws a game. Finally, I think the no huddle should slow down a bit to give the offensive line some time to recover. This might be a reason why our running game is suffering so much. Cordy Glenn is a big man, let him catch his breath.
  4. If you give a very good defense like the Jets an offense so predictable like the one we saw and you get the meltdown that we saw yesterday. I'd like to see the Bills play EJ under center 75% of the plays this week so that they can have real play fakes and bootleg option plays. It was easy to tell what play the Bills were going to run and when the ball was snapped there was no element of surprise of fakes. Against a very good defense that tells their players to attack the football. Maybe this way there will be WRs wide open, and there will be some space for our skill players to operate.
  5. I think that psychology plays a big part in the game of football. I think the Bills losing this particular game with all that's at stake and the rookie QB storyline would be a big blow psychologically to this team. Not only that, lose this game to the Jets and they are staring a 1-3 record in the face with the Superbowl champ Ravens next week. Not exactly a recipe for "good times" ahead. This is not just another game for this franchise.
  6. I understand what you're saying there, but I think you're discounting the magnitude of the fallout from this game with regards to these two rookie QBs and the Bills franchise. With as little national press as the Bills get, to have Geno Smith beat EJ Manuel (that's the story like it or not) under the bright lights of the NYC media world, that would be a very heavy blow. It would be their perfect Bills bashing/hating story to write. It would be so easy that it would write itself... "The stupid Buffalo Bills get beat by the QB they should have taken in the draft but were too stupid to draft him and they instead went and picked the loser, because they are the Buffalo Bills, they are stupid." If the Bills lose this game it will be crushing because I really have the feeling that this team is on the ascent to great things. Losing to the Jets would be very bad. It's funny because as good as we all think the Bills are and that they should beat the Jets, all of the NYC media that I've read and heard this week have picked the Jets. The perceptions will get either become forged or drastically changed by reality after the game.
  7. The only "healthcare" that would greatly help solve the problem of random mass shootings would be to lock up all severely mentally ill people in long term mental institutions before the ticking time bomb goes off. I'm not saying that I'm for or against that old school practice, but I would imagine that decades ago liberals thought that this was an inhumane way of treating people and thus through legislation they were able to end the practice. There's probably no right or wrong here, just that random mass shootings will happen randomly because there's a lot of severely mentally ill people walking around freely in a country with a lot of guns.
  8. Understandable, but for EJ to do that in his second game as an NFL rookie is number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ect ...IMO This guy's no fluke, he's got real NFL game and dang it, wouldn'tcha know he plays the QB position. This is a big deal.
  9. I know these thoughts are supposed to be in no particular order, buuuut...number nine? Really? A Bills 1st round picked rookie QB does that and he's the ninth thought you list? For shame. Make no mistake, EJ doing what he did was the biggest moment in this franchise's history since the Bills got the lead with 16 seconds left in the MCM game. His second game as a rookie leading a long time loser franchise to a last second come from behind win, that's insane.
  10. I was not a fan of the Dareus pick. I actually wanted Robert Quinn who was drafted many picks later. Yet, even Quinn looks like he's another great player from that draft (3 sacks in WK 1). Back then I felt that Dareus just gave me a vibe that he didn't love playing football. A little bit like the Bills' bust LT, Mike Williams. I still have that suspicion given his lack of "star" type of play. This year is the year to prove he wasn't a "bust" pick at #3 overall. Bills fans are not going to be happy at all with Dareus if he doesn't perform at an all pro level this year given the quality of players coming out of that draft. It's not being harsh, it's just reality. I see no reason for him not to have a great game at home against the Panthers.
  11. Dude, you may be way too smart to be posting here...LOL Totally agree, considering all the Bills had going on with Spiller's grandfather just recently going on a killing rampage and killing himself, the rookie Manuel had a knee that recently was worked on and missed two crucial weeks of practice, new head coach and coaches, brand new crazy fast offensive system, crazy amount of penalties occuring, silly turnovers, going against the an all time great QB and head coach. Considering all that was going on, I'm amazed that they had the lead. Imagine the possibilities when things settle down and this team can focus and be comfortable with their coaches, teammates and system.
  12. Gotta go with the Jets. The Pats losing to the Geno led Jets would send this division into chaos. From the looks of things, if the Pats can't get their offensive skill positions on a steady foot, Brady is either going to throw many more interceptions this year or possibly get hurt waiting on someone to get open game after game.
  13. I have since saw the SJ interview. He looked like a guy having trouble finding the right words to describe a bang bang play and the reason it failed. IMO nothing in that interview suggested he was throwing EJ under the bus.
  14. I'm done arguing with you because IMO you're a lost cause.
  15. No, you just make !@#$ up and post it on this board as if Stevie Johnson actually did say "it was a poorly thrown ball". As a Bills fan, I don't appreciate that kind of crap. I love me some Stevie Johnson and I'll be severely pissed off if idiot fans here run him out of town. He loves the Bills. he loves playing football and he's really good at it. When you have Byrd doing what he's doing, it's very hard for me to understand the trashing of Johnson by fans and even have them making stuff up. It's infuriating. Receivers drop balls, get over it or go route for a team who's star players never make a mistake.
  16. So from "it (catching the ball) was harder than it looked" you got "it was a poorly thrown ball"? Really? Please, look at the play again. Stevie chucked his man hard and was trying to back up to speed and get to the spot. He didn't quite get there. That's what he was obviously referring to. There are plays where no one's at "fault" and that the players just missed on the execution.
  17. Please tell me which words which came out of his mouth can be interpreted that him saying it was a "poorly thrown ball". As for this thread I've only read a small portion of it.
  18. I read the article in The Buffalo News. Where did he say it was a "poorly thrown ball"? Maybe I missed that quote. Is it there? If it is then it's my bad, if not then that was low of you to say infer that he said something like that.
  19. You made that up. That's really low. Stevie's "excuse" was that he chucked his man hard and didn't get to his spot quick enough. There was no laying of blame on anyone. Just that it was a tougher catch than it looked, which was true. However, he still should have caught it, but even the great Andre Reed had his failures and foibles. Stevie no where near said it was a bad throw.
  20. Compare their first three years as full time starters. I never said he was better, I'm just saying that Stevie is still young and still has a real shot at surpassing Reed's career as a Bill if EJ Manuel is a franchise QB like Jim Kelly. That being said, the Fitzpatrick excuse is gone and with Manuel and this new offense, this is the year that Johnson needs to prove he's a top receiver in the NFL by bringing it game in game out like Andre Reed did. I still believe in Stevie Johnson.
  21. Really, how so? Andre had HOFer Jim Kelly throwing him the football from his second year on. He also had Lofton, Beebe and Thomas taking some of the target off his back. Stevie had crap at QB and still had three consecutive 1000 yard seasons with the 2013 season probably being his fourth. I think Stevie Johnson can become an even greater receiver than Andre Reed was and I'm hopeful the Bills finally have that franchise QB which will show us once and for all how good or great Stevie truly is.
  22. Seriously, I don't see any reason why the Buffalo Bills can't have the same high octane offense results we're seeing the Eagles have tonight. We have the players to do it just as well as them. If the Bills can somehow dial this super-fast pace stuff in and mirror what these Eagles are doing, then look out AFC.
  23. That game was the very definition of "death by a thousand cuts". On the imaginary impactful meter, if the Pitt drop was a "10", then yesterday's drop was a "3".
  24. When he chucked his man, he game him a real good chuck. It actually looked like he should have been flagged for it. Therefore, I think there's some legitimacy to the excuse. When you are trying to get back up to speed after giving a full chuck to a DB and the ball's moving faster than you are then it's not necessarily an "easy" catch. The physics might have been working against him there. Now, having said all that...at some point and time this season, Stevie Johnson (and CJ Spiller) must be expected to consistently be giving this team great performances. I think that Stevie Johnson has top five NFL receiver potential. The Bills look to finally have the QB that can propel Stevie Johnson to the upper tier. Become this era's Andre Reed, but even better. I'm not going to get on him for that drop, but I think that he needs to know what the expectations are for him this year.
  25. After the week 1 NFL results, the Bills schedule looks a whole lot easier. I count only 2 games that the Bills will have a long shot at winning...Saints and Falcons. The others should be fully contested games. If this team stays healthy and their offense gets on track like we expect, this Bills team should have a real shot to finally be a playoff team in the very weak AFC.
