  1. Every rose has it's thorn. Ouch.
  2. If we went defense in the first (Willis), I wouldn't get that riled up with the Bills taking a look at Leonard in the second or third. I just think that getting a starting RB is a must the closer we get to the draft. Regarding Lynch, I see a player that is the perfect fit for us and for the Bills not to overthink themselves and just draft him.
  3. I'm sorry if I offended your boyfriend Adrian but my money is on Marshawn "Money" Lynch being the tougher of the two players and the better match for the Buffalo Bills. Not a guy who gets injured doing freakin cartwheels in the endzone.
  4. I saw him play against USC. If your point is that you have to have watched all of your favorite college player's games then a lot of people here would have to obstain on their opinions on who they want the Bills to draft. How come you don't ask the Patrick Willis supporters this question? Because I'm sure you obviously realize that there's a whole lot of people here who've been watching Ole Miss games! BTW, I see you're a big fan of Brain Leonard and dead set against the Bills taking Marshawn Lynch. Hmmm, I wonder why this is? Is it because of where he comes from?
  5. He stood on his combine numbers where he ran a sub 4.5 in the forty: http://nfldraftguys.com/features/2007_NFL_...pdate_Nowak.php "Marshawn Lynch (California) 5111 215 4.46 (DNR) After an unofficial time over 4.50 in his first run, Lynch came back with a sub-4.5 time on his second and visible sense of satisfaction, combined with a little relief, about him. He may have recognized he passed a conceptual line in the sand for separating good speed from elite speed for RBs, and passed a final hurdle in locking himself in as a first round pick. Lynch was solid, but unspectacular, in most of the other tests. Demonstrating his timed speed correlated to the functional speed he showed as a playmaker (6.6 ypc for his career) in college increases the likelihood those skills will transfer, which was the most important thing he could have shown at the Combine. The other work to take care of there was shedding any lingering concerns about his character. Last summer his car was shot at in a drive-by shooting that was apparently a case of mistaken identity. His mother actually received a call apologizing and saying the shooter thought Lynch was someone else. Of more serious concern was a recent allegation of assault by an ex-girlfriend in December. The case was promptly dismissed for lack of evidence and apparently was an attempt at extortion. By all accounts, none of these unfortunate incidents have tarnished perception of his character. With a more compact build than Peterson, the conventional wisdom is Lynch will be less prone to big hits, hence injury, over his career. However, Lynch is also not without some problems in that department the last couple of years. In his first season as a feature back in 2005, a broken pinky cost him two games. This past season, he dealt with a sore back and sprains in both ankles for the second half of the season. However, neither that nor the loss of two all-conference linemen stopped him from having his best year in his final season. At Cal's Pro Day, he weighed three pounds heavier (218) and sat on his Combine numbers, but impressed with his receiving skills in position drills. On film, Lynch's vision really stands out. He is a patient runner with good instincts through traffic and excellent at finding the cutback lane. He is also not only a complete back, but a complete football player. A top kick returner, he is also a willing special teams player with five career tackles. A natural receiver both out of the backfield and split out, he also became the serviceable blocker a back needs to be in HC Jeff Tedfordís pro-style offense. If you need him to, he can also throw a pass for you. Lynch says he can throw a ball 70 yards and QB is his ìdream positionî. He completed four of five passes for 55 yards and two scores in college. While his ceiling is as high as Atlanta with the eighth overall pick, he is likely a mid-to-late first rounder. The trade of Willis McGahee makes Buffalo with the twelfth pick an appealing match, as well as Green Bay with the sixteenth. I still feel Lynch is underappreciated. He didnít put up eye-popping numbers in college because he never needed to. Cal had one of the deepest backfields in the country in a top overall offense each of his years. The presence of spotlight-grabbing skill position players like Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson have also kept Lynch from getting more press in this draft class. However, he would be a top RB prospect in any class, any year."
  6. That's all you ever have to say apparently.
  7. It means the other two guys would be much more likely to turn into pussys when the going got tough. Does that clear up your confusion?
  8. I'm tired of all of the Michael Turner talk. Why do we want to help the Chargers out? Not only that, but Lynch is tougher and a lot more of real "football player" then Turner will ever be. Just a feeling I have regarding the two backs. I'm tired of figuring out how the Bills can trade up for Adrian Peterson. Why give away high draft picks when Lynch is tougher and a lot more of real "football player" then Peterson will ever be. Again, just a feeling I have regarding the two backs. I'm tired of the Patrick Willis talk. Crowell is our MLB and the Bills can find Spikes replacement in the second and third rounds (Durant, Alexander ect). The first Bills need is RB so why mess with it by getting cute and drafting at a position where we already have a starter. I'm starting to hope that he's taken by San Fanscisco so the Bills are forced to draft Lynch. Buffalo is a no nonsense tough town that should embrace, yes embrace, a guy like Marshawn Lynch. Being shot at (victim of mistaken identity), I have a feeling that he doesn't scare easy. Especially by the likes of a fancy boy like Teddy Bruschi. He's been the victim of an extortion plot, so he's already been initiated into the pitfalls and downside of NFL groupies. The guy loves his momma like the great Jim Kelly loved his momma. This kid was dealt a bad hand and has made himself into a successfull football running machine. I see guys like Turner and Peterson as thoroughbreds, I see Marshawn Lynch as a "football player". Just because he grew up in a bad area, doesn't mean he has character problems. I sometimes wonder why so many here want Brian Leonard because he's a "team guy" with "high character". Why isn't Lynch praised for his character? Seems to me he's come from much farther back and he's done a lot more for his teams than Leonard has. He's shown that he's a fighter to get where he's is now. I hope more fans here will start showing their support for this guy, a tough guy made for Buffalo. You can take Turner and Peterson, I want the Bills to draft Lynch no matter what. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshawn_Lynch
  9. Don't get hung up on the 6 yards per carry stat. He wasn't the starter and San Diego's offensive line and system are not the same as Buffalo's offensive line and system. Last season's yards per carry has no bearing on what his output will be for Buffalo as a first time NFL starter. As for Peterson and Lynch, I feel they are BOTH better options than Turner. Peterson, the guy is greased lightning and hands down a better back than Turner. Lynch seems like he did it all...running, catching and blocking (Turner has yet to show any proficiency in catching the football). Plus it sounds like Lynch is a tough as nails player who has a real passion for the game. Turner? Um, he seemed pretty happy as a backup to LT...not that there's anything wrong with that. I've got a real bad feeling about Michael Turner's ability to be "The Man". Don't you dare give our 1st rounder for that guy Marv!
  10. Marv's a history buff and surely knows the saga of Lamont Jordan to the Raiders for a 1st round pick. The NFL is full of average RBs that accumulated very good stats because the players around him were so darn good. Just look at Denver's history with players at the RB position. The big gamble (getting Turner while giving up our 12 pick in the draft), is that Turner's only a great backup RB in San Diego's offense. That he ends up being just an average back in western NY. The gamble drops considerably if San Diego relents to getting a 2nd round pick for Turner. I see the Bills vying to draft a potentially great Buffalo Bills "leader" with their first round selection. Turner doesn't fill that Bill, so to speak.
  11. That's a big "if". Want some other big "if's"? If Turner can't carry of full game load, catch a third and 5 swing pass, block a blitzing linebacker and/or fails to gain tough yards when actually being touched running through a line of scrimmage then the Bills got the shaft of the century. The Bills fans with NFL ticket will still have the opportunity to watch Patrick Willis' Hall of Fame career in Southern Callifornia though, just not live and in person in Orchard Park. The Bills are simply in no position to hang their hopes on a backup runningback being a top 5-10 player and passing over an impact player like Willis. If the Bills ever went through with this it will be something that'll haunt them forever.
  12. Smell the coffee. Marv will only part with what the value of Turner is, which is certainly NOT a 1st round pick. They can tell him until they're blue in the face that he's worth a 1st round pick (and then some), but it's not going to work. To think so is a little insulting to the man. As for Peterson and Lynch, yes they are 1st round picks. So what...both are also projected starters of which Turner has never been one. You may be a big supporter of Turner's but I find his stats to be a little too good to be true. Meaning that SD's offensive line is one of the best and also that when Turner goes in I suspect that the opposing defenses are winded from chasing after LT. I'd rather the Bills reach for a TE like Olsen (which are much harder to find) then to give SD a 1st rounder and a boat load of cash for a backup runningback like Turner...Lamont Jordan Part II.
  13. The Bills are NOT going to trade away a 1st round pick THIS YEAR, NEXT YEAR or ANY YEAR for Michael Turner. I'm so sick of the stories and reports that the Chargers "won't give him away for anything less than blah blah blah...". Whatever AJ, call us when you've woken up from your slumber and finally figure out that RBs do not fetch 1st round picks any longer. I only just wish that Marv would come out and say "I'll give up a 1st round draft pick for Turner when pigs fly". At least it would put this ridiculous story to a humorous end and the bored NFL reporters will have something new to talk about.
  14. Anybody remember "The Boz"? Nicknames ending in "oz" are what's annoying, not the people who can't get them right.
  15. I've been listening all day and heard both of the segments refered to here. This was certainly NOT a bash job. I saw it as the radio guys just playing devils advocate to Carucci's take on the Bills. No where have they mocked JP or the Bills like they were doing last season. Plus, Kirwin's actually right (amazingly so), that the offense will have to pull a lot more weight this season. That DOES mean more pressure on JP. Kirwin was flat out wrong regarding Holcomb starting last year. But what I also heard today that they were amazed at how many of the veteran players took them aside and tell them off the record how badly they wanted Holcomb to start instead of JP. Thankfully it's become JP's team and the disgruntled veterans have been jetisoned out of Buffalo.
  16. I think McGahee's lowest blow by far was his not so veiled bashing of the quaility of women in Buffalo. They should wear t-shirts that say "Hey McGoofee, That's ok because Buffalo women won't go out with butt ugly lowlifes like you anyways" or just simply put "FUWM" on them. I think his low class "player" act is starting to finally see the light of day, specifically the national NFL reporters. Not that it matters to Bills fans, but at least McGahee's image is being dragged through the mud as it should be. The guy's a first class slug and will be treated as such when the Ravens come to town.
  17. This sounds like it was meant to be taken serious. Sorry if it was, but I couldn't stop laughing after I read it.
  18. This draft is fine, but the Bills really need some help at linebacker. Come on now man, get back to the drawing board.
  19. Two things... "Can't do nothin", "we Ravens now". Very poor grammar coming from someone who loves representing the Miami University. I'm shocked and I'm sure his college professors are quite shocked also. Is it ok if I hope he chokes on a ham sandwich at the Ralph?
  20. Durant and Hughes are going to be picked in the second round. I don't see anyway they'd be available to the Bills anywhere in the third round. I think Jones will be there. If the Bills for whatever reason go offense with their 1st round pick, I'm hoping that they take Justin Durant with their second round pick. The guy supposedly hits like a truck and never lets up.
  21. The value of runningbacks has reduced greatly over the last couple of years. San Diego was basically laughed at when they said they'd take nothing but a 1st and 3rd, when players like Thomas Jones and Willis McGahee (established starters) were garnering 3rd round picks. They have since come down out of the clouds and now appear willing to deal him for a second round pick. The deal you talk about (moving back to pick 30) makes Turner's worth 550 points on the draft value chart. That means that his supposed worth is the 36th pick which is the 4th pick in the second round. Given that Turner is a backup player, the Bills would be getting the short end of the stick given the current value of starting runningbacks. After getting the short end of the stick, Turner is in the last year of his contract so you suddenly have to pay him the BIG bucks if he ends up having a great year. This makes no sense what so ever unless the Chargers were to significantly drop their asking price. The Bills are the last team that's going to throw money at the runningback position to a player that is still not a proven commodity. The Bills are in a great position to get an impact player that will be with the Bills for many years (Willis, Okoye, Peterson, Lynch) and at a contract level that is favorable to the Bills cap situation. When you select in the back of the first round it starts getting to be table scraps in regards to potential in the NFL. So to answer your question...no way Jose.
  22. I think that Marv wants to create the same feeling that he had here when he was the coach in the late eighties. A talented young team that's on the rise and one which will be a playoff contender for a long time. I saw saw bits of that in the second part of last season. As long as the fans see the young players starting to gel even more so than they did last season, and we see this year's rookies make an impact as the 2006 did, then the ride in 2007 will be that much sweeter even if they do just miss the playoffs again. I think we'll be too busy enjoying the 2007 season to worry about 2008.
  23. I was searching the Niner message board looking for their take on who they want their team to draft, when I came across a TSW time warp thread. They are all up in arms that Frank Gore ($435,000 next season) is making noises that he will be demanding the league's richest contract when he hits the open market. Hmmmmmm, didn't we have the same thread regarding Nate Clements (now a Niner)? I guess what comes around does go around. The kicker is that it has tinges of McGahee/Rosenhaus for that added Deja Vu flavor. I even saw a couple of "trade Gore, draft Lynch" replys. Enjoy... http://forums.49ers.com/messageboard/showthread.php?t=21728 Regarding another thread: In the "I thought things at TSW were harsh" file...I saw this little diddy from one Niner fan to another, sheesh! "I'm sick of you being alive, now why don't you go off and do something productive like maybe putting the barrel of a gun in your mouth and firing. Yeah! That seems like a good way to do this. Or you can just admit that you're jealous that I am better at life than you. Your choice. Pick one." http://forums.49ers.com/messageboard/showp...mp;postcount=10
  24. Will you complain when he's listed on the PUP list going into the second game of the season?
  25. The Bills biggest need is a starting runningback. Don't let the talk of "runningback by commitee" fool you, Marv is going to draft either Peterson or Lynch as the next great Bills franchise back. Doing anthing else would be getting too cute and will surely bite them in the butt. The Bills would officially have one of the weakest running attacks in the league if they are left with Thomas in tandum with Irons, Hunt or Leonard. Luckily this won't happen.
