Looks like the NFL has no problem with dirty hits
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That looked like an illegal and intentional helmet first hit also. It's becoming the norm in the league and needs to be dealt with before there's a death. You don't think these players can help it? They want to separate the ball from the receiver by all means possible and will continue to aim for the head because there are no ramifications for doing so. It's a rule that's not being enforced when the player being hit is a receiver. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz9eZM_FcoQ -

I like how Sims said Clark uses his shoulder first. Whatever you say Phil the shill. -

Well suggesting I go watch soccer was a low blow. I hate soccer. I just don't like the way the league is clearly condoning this head hunting which looks to be occurring much more frequently. -

I think he hit his mark right where it was intended. Harrison used to be the exception and now it seems like there are more and more Harrison clones in this league. -
Who do you think will win the SB ?
1billsfan replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Arizona Cardinals will win. The worst enemy for the Steelers is going to be the two week layoff where the media will be hyping them as the champs. They are clearly not as great as the media will make them out to be. The Cardinal coaching staff know the Steelers team inside and out. This will come down to who wins the Cardinal Offense vs Steelers defense battle and I think Warner and company will come out on top. -

I don't understand why that hit is thought of as acceptable though. Tatum paralyzed Stingly on a hit slightly worse than that one was. The receiver had no time to react to a defender launching himself at the top of his body, which happens to be where the head is. I just don't know why it's become an acceptable form of taking down a defender. Do I think the Steeler was trying to hurt McGahee? No I don't. But I do think he was using a technique that should be outlawed before someone dies. -
That idiot Demps who knocked Warner down late with his helmet should have been tossed out of that game Dawkins clearly came in late on a play and hit a player with the crown of his helmet yet no flag. The announcers never said a word about it. McGahee was almost decapitated by a Steeler pointing his helmet towards McGahee's head, yet no flag. Sims gave the hit his approval. I don't like this brand of football being promoted and apparently approved by the league. If they did not approve of it then it would be gone with the use of penalties, stiff fines and suspensions. I don't ever remember the Buffalo Bills of the Bruce Smith era going in with their helmets a la Jack Tatum style. It's now become accepted that players can't help it, that it's part of the game. That's b_lllsh_t. The Rodney Harrison style of play has now become the accepted model for today's NFL defenders. I was taught that you hit and tackle with your shoulders. It's hard to hit another player's helmet when your shoulder pads are hitting a player in the ribs. This dirty play crap has got to stop. This league is becoming sick. This allowance of dirty play crap has got to stop.

Tony Dungy Stepping down as Colts HC
1billsfan replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your not so subtle attempt at sticking it to the Dick Jauron haters is laughable. Jauron is an idiot. There's a very good reason why Bills fans have unmercifully mocked this player friendly coaching trait. It's because being liked by the players was clearly one of the reasons he was kept on as head coach. It certainly wasn't because of his performance which is what we base our opinions of the players. The Bills lost 8 of their last 10 games and it CERTAINLY DID NOT look like their coach cared. Dungy proved he was a very good head coach in Tampa winning 4 out of the 6 years he was there. Teaming him with Polian and Manning gave him an almost unbeatable combination were it not for the Patriots. The only thing that Dick has proven is that he sucks as a head coach. Let's get freaking real here. -
http://content.usatoday.com/sports/footbal....aspx?year=2007 NY Giants had the lowest payroll and won the Superbowl. http://content.usatoday.com/sports/footbal....aspx?year=2008 NY Giants only spent two million more on player salaries than did the Buffalo Bills. How much more are they spending on player personnel departments and coaching per year? I'm sure that number is less than ten million. Which is a drop in the bucket for a guy like Ralph. The problem is that Ralph has spent his money on jackasses to run his football team. But you just keep on telling yourself that location is the reason we stink.

I am still having a problem with Dick Jauron

1billsfan replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are you arguing with someone who STILL thinks that Dick Jauron is a competent NFL head coach? Just think about that. Also, please don't apologize for venting about the Buffalo Bill's biggest weakness. We happen to have the worst head coach in the league and that fact needs to be brought up here at TSW from time to time. -
First off, I can't think of one player from the Buffalo Bills other than Evans and McGee that would be a starter on the Giants. With that being said, our head coach is an f'ing moron. Though the team does not come near the Giants talent wise, Jauron did have an average roster of NFL talent with the advantage of playing the easiest schedule in 2008. You could have a hundred steps to success and all would mean nothing when the head coach has the football instincts of a monkey. Two steps... Step #1. Fire Dick and hire a SMART head football coach with the passion to get the most out of a roster of 53 players. Step #2. Acquire big, strong and nasty players to replace the skinny and weak players with high motors which were the moron head coach's preference.

Though I do like Peters, I think the Bills should be weighing all options on the table including what a trade could do for the team. Heck, I'd even think about trading Whitner for a 2nd rounder and put in Alvin Bowen at SS (he's too small to play linebacker) with Bryan Scott at FS. Could they get a high to mid first round pick? Let's just say that they were able to trade for San Francisco's 10th pick before ours. We could then go ahead and draft a highly ranked top defensive end then trade down the other pick to the mid twenties of the first round and draft the center Mack or a top TE. Then they would have two 2nd rounders (three with a Whitner trade) to draft which ever position out of OC or TE that they didn't pick in the first round (Luigs, Coffman) and have a quality pick for OL or another DE. Move Walker to LT, use the money that would be needed for the Peters contract on free agents RT Stinchcomb and LB Vilma. At first it may sound crazy to trade Peters but think about the possibilities doing so could bring the Bills. This could be an opportunity for the Bills to fix the whole starting roster and not come up short in a few spots like we always seem to be. That being said, it's not necessarily a bad move to sign him up long term either.

While Tony Dungy contemplates retirement, Jauron...
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are only a handful of Bills that I believe play hard every game. Lynch, Jackson, Stroud, Greer, McGee, McKelvin, Mitchell, Reed. There are probably a couple more, but the rest of the Bills players strike me that they aren't trying as hard as these guys I mentioned. This falls on the head coach's lax in accountability culture he has created. That you can always blame defeat and poor performance on how hard it is to play football. Then follow that up by saying you will try harder the next time. The Bills are the biggest embarrassment in the league right now. The only people that care are the players I mentioned and the passionate fan base. Kelsay is a guy that is so lucky to be starting in this league, let alone be getting 5 mil a year. I can't stand him almost as much as I can't stand Jauron. He's the ultimate poster boy for what you get when you hire a Dick Jauron for your head coach and player personnel decision making. -
...who is five years Tony's senior, is still toiling in his craft trying to get it right with laughably bad results. Somehow I don't think that Tony Dungy thought football as being hard or that is was so hard to beat other teams. If he did, I've never heard him say such things that reeked of a losers mentality, unaccountability and excuse making. His contemporaries are contemplating retirement while the curious and amazing head coaching life of lifetime loser Dick Jauron continues. I think his secret is that he chooses players that are much more loyal than they are competitive. It's the only reason that makes any sense as to why the players wanted him back so badly.

Please tell us the NFL team that Fisher had a record of 4 of 5 losing seasons before that Oilers/Titans gig. Do you believe in unicorns and fairies also?

BREAKING NEWS: Jauron to be retained
1billsfan replied to BarkLessWagMore's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm done with caring about who their future head coach will be once Dick is eventually fired. I've seriously lost a very significant amount of enthusiasm for this team. The only silver lining here is that I'll have more time to pursue more rewarding interests rather than daydreaming about a Buffalo Bills playoffs team. -

BREAKING NEWS: Jauron to be retained
1billsfan replied to BarkLessWagMore's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
!@#$ Marv Levy for hiring this wimpy lifeless loser of a head coach in the first place. !@#$ Ralph Wilson for extending and retaining this 7 of 8 time loser (0-6 divisional '08 record). Good riddance Sunday NFL Ticket. This franchise has officially entered the dark portion of the black hole it has been circling for a decade. This team WILL finish last in the NFL in 2009. It WILL be a very ugly season with all the appeal of RAW SEWAGE by midseason. I'm so glad that Ralph Wilson was never voted into the Hall of Fame. I wish that Marv Levy was never voted in since he has was responsible for ruining this franchise by hiring that loser in the first place. 0-4 in 4 straight Superbowls???? He's the freaking Dick Jauron of Superbowl coaches. Bill Parcells owned him again in just one season as a GM! Hey Ralphie, go f yourself and go f your "continuity" plan buddy. -
How about hiring these two mugs (Butler, Grimm)...
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our team is so full of softies from the QB right on down to the middle linebacker. When your toughest player is your punter then you have a serious problem. Sorry guys, but at this point we Bills fans don't care about your damn feelings. -
Keith Butler: current Steeler LB coach & Dick Labeau protege (for Bills head coach)... http://www.jamd.com/image/g/75387116 Russ Grimm: current Cardinal offensive line coach (for Bills OC)... http://www.daylife.com/photo/01E14j46Uz9jC I just heard Keith Butlers name mentioned by Mike Francesa on WFAN in NYC to watch as a possible head coaching candidate. I wouldn't mind trashing the whole gimmicky tampa 2 system anyways. Hey, just because we haven't heard of these guys doesn't mean they shouldn't be considered. Their mugs alone would scare the crap out of our current roster of power puff girls.

Trent's recipe for success - more excuses
1billsfan replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's missing from Trent's recipe is a little ingredient called "accountability". Every successful team has that. That you as a player actually fear not doing well because it will effect your status on the team. There's that and also he's flat out wrong if he feels that the fourth year is the charm with Dick. If he couldn't get it right in 7 of 8 seasons why in the world is he banking on the ninth season? Our Stanford and Yale alums, Trent and Dick, don't appear to be very intelligent fellows, do they. They both can take a hike as far as I'm concerned. -
He couldn't wait to sign him up for a three year extension. I remember thinking that it was a really weird time to extend a guy who had only one winning season in seven as a head coach. I guess he thought that Jauron's price was skyrocketing so he bought on the up tick right before the bottom dropped out. That extension was sheer stupidity. Hey, let me jump the gun to save a few shillings! This extension mess serves you right Ralph. Can we at least see a winning season from the guy before you show him the money?! I bet that Jason Peters was so very happy to see Ralph throwing money at Jauron in mid-season while he was being treated as a greedy ingrate for wanting an increase in his low budget salary.
