...basing his opinion soley on NFL.com's combine video. I thought I should at least see what these guys look like before I go off on how bad they are, right? http://www.nfl.com/combine/videos/participants Oher - Moves like Lurch from the Munsters. His leg movement looked horrible. His possible knickname if the Bills take him and he sucks, Michael Oh-NO! Lawrence Sidbury - Guy looks like he has the frame and athleticism to play DE in the NFL, from his college production it seems like he was great playing at the lower college level. Orakpo - Looks like a linebacker, not a defensive end. Eric Wood - Looks like that never been kissed lady from Britian's got Talent. Urbik - Looks like a very good 3rd or 4th round NFL guard prospect for the Bills (one of those guys that starts for 10 years with the great Steelers or Giants lines). Maybin - Dude looks quick, real freakin' quick. He may not go through a tackle to get to the QB, but it look like he could get there none the less. Max Unger - I can't tell if he looks more like Paul Bunyan or a Mack Truck. Duke Robinson - Clumsy. Tyson Jackson - It's weird how this guy never gets mentioned for our pick. I know the "he doesn't fit our system" argument. But since when is it better to have a small guy like Orakpo or Brown than to have a guy that could play both end and DT. Is he really going to be that bad at making tackles on running plays his way? At least he could throw off the tackle's block and not get buried or eaten up like Orakpo and Brown would. Why is Jackson not a better option? Why does he not get mentioned here? Sorry, I don't get it. Ayers - Looks like a solid DE prospect. The lack of college stats scares me though. What gives? Is he one of those guys that only plays when he knows it's now or never? Did he just mature late as a player and person? Every single one of these DE prospects has a big 'ol question mark on their backs. Ziggy Hood - Hey McCargo, you're fired. Kruger - Looks like one of those guys that they say "has a high motor". We already have about 10 too many of those type of players. Larry English - If he had a neck he'd be 6'4". He be a great pick at #28. Conner Barwin - Looks like one of those guys they cast as the jock who bullies the nerds. Looks like he bullies RBs and QBs too. Jonathan Luigs - Are you serious? This guy looks like someone who sits on the couch and plays video games while eating dounts, not actually try to play the game itself. Phil Loadholt - Bit of a project? Nice size though. Cornelious Ingram - Sorry, but that dude looks more fluid and athletic than Pettigrew. I see no reason why he won't be as good or better than him. Britton - 1st round prospect? Sorry, don't see it. There will be guards in the 3rd just as good as him. William Beatty - #28 maybe. 2nd round yes. Not a fan of drafting guards in the first. Jared Cook - Freakish speed and leaping ability. Brandon who???? Kaluka Maiva - Looks like a starting NFL linebacker to me. Never heard of him before but he looked fast and athletic in the video. So if you think this was a stupid exercise, well...who was more stupid, me or the guy who read the entire thing only to feel the need to state what a waste of time it was to read it? Happy draft day everybody!

Draft Prospect Cliche- What's your favorite?

Sorry but I care. The Bills reached for Donte Whitner when the value AND need fit with getting Haloti Ngata. Now they're turning Whitner into a free safety. Brilliant! The Bills blew it. -
Ernie Sims for Roscoe Parrish, Ko Simpson and us trading back to their pick.

Losman receiving interest..... from TWO teams!
1billsfan replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I both agree and disagree with some of your points. First off, let me state that I was in JP's corner in second round of the seemingly never ending "Buffalo Bills QB controversy." I disagree that Losman was a classic "bust". The guy was picked at #26th in the draft and it was a well known fact that any club who dared pick him that Losman was a "project" who although had a high potential upside also and a huge potential downside. After the initial "WTF? Who the heck is this Losman guy?" surprise of the pick, we all learned about JP's great "tools" and "potential", and we also learned that it would be an extended work in process. I find it hard to call any QB taken at the back end of round one a "bust". I see it more of a classic roll the dice pick that came up snake-eyes as it often does when the Bills roll the freaking dice. A couple of weeks ago I was fecisiously calling Whitner a "bust" pick, but he was actually a huge reach pick (it turns out Kiper and the naysayers were right all along) that should have never been picked as high as #8. In both cases, it was neither of these guy's fault that the Bills made reaches and turned non first round players into first round picks. But I digress, the guy's who hate on Losman are truly insane. I had some time to kill and decided to look at both Trent's and Losman's second year as starter stats (thanks to Troy, Losman was basically recduced to a non-active player in 2004). Take a close look at Trent's 2008 QB rating vs the AFC East and Losman's 2006 QB rating vs the AFC East... http://www.nfl.com/players/trentedwards/ga...ts?id=EDW720778 http://www.nfl.com/players/j.p.losman/game...amp;season=2006 I'm not saying that Losman is better than Edwards because at this point neither QB looks as if they have what it takes to be "the man" in the NFL. I'm just saying that it's stupid to hate so badly on a player that actually accomplished something in at least one of his years on this team. Jeez, looking back those 19 touchdowns by Losman it may be like having 36 touchdowns on any other team not being coached by Dick "drain the freaking life out of the game" Jauron. I do think that it's still possible that Losman could have one of those big comebacks a few years from now. It's obviously a very small possibility but there's always the chance things click and he can get rid of the jitters and slow decision-making that have haunted him since his arrival. You never know if that right situation could help him turn the corner. The difference between Losman and Edwards was that it was thought that Edwards was a natural. That his learning curve was extremely short. Well looking at those 2008 game splits scares me. He even had bad games against the Browns and 49ers at home. It's funny to me that the Losman hatred continues as if the Bills are "all set" at the QB position. We are far from set. Edwards looked every bit as bad as Losman at his worst in 2008. Instead of the turnovers that Losman was classically known for, we instead got a frighteningly look at the lack of touchdown passes being thrown. Maybe both these QBs were always two sides of a bad coin. All that constant debating and name calling gone for naught! If Trent doesn't turn it on in 2009, the Bills WILL have a new head coach (bad Edwards season = very bad Bills record = new coach) and they WILL be picking a 1st round QB in 2010. That's my prediction on the matter. Here's hoping Edwards has a stellar season. I wish JP Losman a happy life but don't really care all that much about his post-Bills NFL life. -
Buffalo's descent into mediocrity came when ...
1billsfan replied to SoCal Pat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, I took a look at the rest of that draft after the Flowers pick, and the only names that did much of anything that I could see were Laverneuos Coles, Tuten Reyes and Marc Bulger. Other than a handful of the first rounders, that whole 2000 draft was one huge suckfest. -
We don't know for sure if he was told that they'd only redo the deal if he'd play out the '08 season. They told the media that they wouldn't talk to him unless he came in, but I happen to think it was made clear to him he'd have to play out the '08 season first. The Bills were being penny-wise and pound foolish if that indeed was the case. As I said before, time will tell who was taken to the cleaners in the trade. As for Miller, the guy is nothing but a shill for Jauron and the Bills FO. He was talking a lot of smack about Peters yesterday and didn't have the balls to tell him he thought he should be the 32nd ranked LT last season in the interview today.
-
Try to having some reading comprehension. This is what the OP stated... "After the interview, Jim Miller observed that if Peters wanted to be paid like the best LT in the NFL, he should have earned it on the field, meaning show up for work in 2008. Miller also said that if Peters had done that, there was no question in his mind the Bills would have made Peters a wealthy man. But Miller added he understands the Bills "100%" over what they felt they had to do. How can you reward a player who played as badly as Peters did in 2008 (Miller: "32nd ranked LT in the NFL in 2008") and was as disprespctful to the team and players as Peters was?" This is what I said about that... "Jim Miller was a failure as an NFL QB and is currently a major shill and excuse-maker for Dick Jauron and Co. I have Sirius NFL radio and have had more than enough of his warped way of thinking regarding the Bills. Here's a question. How can you reward a head coach who coached as badly as he has since he's come to Buffalo? Oh that's right, according to that former scrub QB none of it was his fault. His buddy got his extension and that is all that matters. Everyone else is an ungrateful jerk." JIM MILLER IS BIASED!!!! That WAS the F#%KING POINT! The OP was using him as if he had an unbiased opinion that meant something when the complete opposite is the case. He's got a major hard-on for both Jauron and the Bills' front office. Is that too nuanced for you?
-
Someone was trying to use what Jim Miller says as if it was profound when the guy is and has always been a hugely biased Jauron and Bills front office supporter. The guy sucked as a QB and sucks just as badly as an NFL radio host. Yes, it was unprofessional for Peters to not stay in shape. That's very fair to bring up. But these guys are not robots, and not everyone is going to do things the right way. But unless you're an organization not named the Buffalo Bills, you also don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Until Peters proves he was just in it for the money and craps out in Philly, I will still believe that had the Bills just given him the money prior to the '08 season he would be still considered hands down the best LT in the game. Time will tell. I'm almost ready to move on in the hopes that the Bills sign Henderson and Brooks then draft Ayers at#11 and either Mack or Unger at #28, the best OL in the 2nd and then Cornelius Ingram in the 3rd.

A request: Please share your take on the Peters trade
1billsfan replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's very weird how many on TSW are so heavily supportive of the front office. It's become Jonestown level support at this point considering the teams' record over the last decade. It's not only fans here, failed NFL QB Jim Miller and a huge supporter of loser Jauron and the Bills FO, basically ripped Peters a new one all day on Sirius NFL radio. It was both embarrassing and shameful coming from a guy who was basically nothing but a scrub player his whole career. But that's alright though, because his buddy Dick "Mr. 7 out of 8 losing seasons and counting" Jauron got a three year extension and our team just lost it's best player for a box of crayons. It's never Dick's fault. Sorry Tim, but what I have to say can't be printed over there. -
C'mon admit it, you work for the Bills.
-
I was being facetious Dean. Let me be specific, they'll have four wins and have the third, fourth or fifth pick in the 2010 draft. My guess is that it'll be a QB after Trent plays only about half of the 2009 season due to injury.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Bye Bye JP.

I could see if you guys were talking about someone who made an egregious or offensive remark. But let's not get sullen over a throwaway comment like that. Save that for when it's necessary to call out an indiscretion. Nothing's perfect, even TSW. -
Thank you for your support. The last couple of days since the Peter's trade I've kept coming back to that well-known, well worn out and beating a dead horse comment "drinking the koolaid". But there's a good reason why fans use this phrase, because it fits so well. For some fans the Bills can literally do no wrong. Take the Peters thing. How many fans here would be fine and dandy if their company hired a couple of out-of-house employees and gave them both twice as much as you were making even though you've just established yourself as one of the best in your field (Dockery and Walker)? To top it all off a couple of weeks ago they just gave another player a new contract even though he had a couple of years remaining on his deal (see Stroud). Where was the outrage over Stroud's new contract? Shouldn't he have had to play out his deal like they wanted Peters to do? There's no understanding of why Peters soured over wanting to continue to play for his favorite team growing up? So here we stand. The Bills were supposed to get a top DE at #11 but now have to use that to plug the hole they basically forced upon themselves. They will no doubt now end up with the fifth or sixth best DE with that #28 pick. A guy that will probably not be ready to make an impact in the league for at least a couple of years. Our offensive line is in shambles, our defensive line will still have Kelsay as a starter. To me, these aren't exactly the best offseason developments for my favorite team. The reason I see the Bills having a horrible season is because of how poorly they did with the easiest schedule ever in '08. Not winning one AFC East game. Losing to the lowly Browns and 49ers at home. Surprise, this sourpuss predicted a 10-7 season last year because of the schedule. As bad as I thought Dick Jauron was as a head coach, I thought that even he could get this team to a 10 win season. So if I was off three games last year, then starting off at the laughably predictable mark 7-9, it stands to reason that the real record, with this difficult schedule, a lousy coach and a makeshift offensive and defensive line, they'll be more in line with 4-12. Hey, I hope all of you koolaid drinkers are right and I'm the one who's wrong. I'm just trying to be as objective as I can about the upcoming season.

Not that I'm a big fan of Scooby, but your reply and the OP's reply to his sarcastic remark are a major over-reaction. If someone is so thin skinned that they have to sit on Oprah's coach just because of a throw away sarcastic comment then perhaps the wall isn't the place to visit. There are definitely times when posters go over the line here, but Scooby was no where near in the vicinity. In fact, it's well known that the moderators get very irritated by multiple threads on the same topic. Scooby actually had a good point. -
I hate to tell you but, your crystal ball is severely damaged. My crystal ball tells me we'll have the first pick in the 2010 draft for which we'll be drafting a QB with. We'll also have a new head coach and a new GM. This season is a "Hank Bullough" special coming right up.

I'm sure there were many Bills fans like you laughing at the Vikings for regarding Pat Williams as being one the best DTs in football. -
You're wrong. You obviously weren't here, but last offseason I wanted the Bills to give him the 9-10 million dollar a year deal he was worth last season because he was one of the few Bills who actually MADE something of himself coming from being a lowly undrafted TE to one of the top LTs in the league. There would have never been a holdout. He was the third highest paid offensive lineman on the Buffalo Bills in '08. So what have the Bills gained by this? A patchwork offensive line for Trent "China Doll" Edwards' make or break (pun intended) third season. Bravo fellas!

My new hobby is to piss off you and all the other mindless cadets who get smacked around by your team yet still reply "thank you sir may I have another," by exposing every embarrassing bowel movement made by this teams' truly pathetic decision-makers. My new hobby is clearly going to be keeping me quite busy. They've now reached the Matt Millen sub-level stages of incompetence.
-
Chris Kelsay is still employed on this team pulling in 6 million dollars a year. Their head coach, who has a ridiculous 7 out of 8 years losing record as a head coach, just got a freaking pay raise and a 3 years extension. Not only has he yet to have a winning record for us, he has yet to beat a good team. But they get pissed that their pro-bowl LT of the future wants the going rate for his services and so they deal him for basically what amounts to a high second round draft pick while creating a gaping whole for which they will patchwork a couple of rookies and scrub offensive lineman, knowing full well their starting QB has the fragility of a china doll. The Buffalo Bills...where every good to great player leaves, every over-rated "high-motor" player gets a new contract and every average free agent acquired from other teams get boat loads of money. Wash, rinse and repeat. We really do have morons running our team.
-
The Buffalo Bills FO and Ralph Wilson can go f@#k themselves. They needed to use that pick on a nasty pass rushing DE. 2-14 here we come.
-
The Buffalo Bills are the KC Royals of the NFL. "We have to pay how much for top talent???? Eh let's just trade him, we're just a farm team anyways. So what if our defense will still have Kelsay as a starting DE and Edwards' blindside will be protected by a clueless rookie."
