I thought the whole point of shanahan system was they can pull anyone in. I thought Wilson had been good for them. obviously, CMC is a special player (when healthy) and they can do some nasty things with him and Deebo. But that seems like a lot of money for a rb with his injury concerns and your qb is Jimmy G. Interesting move though.

Mel Kiper is wrong a ton though. I think he said he would retire if Jimmy clausen didn’t become a star qb. That’s the thing. College stats mean nothing but a guy completing under 69% of his passes in college now is kinda crazy. I just can’t believe the Buffalo Bills got this mold of talented clay and turned him into this. I still can’t believe it.

I can’t believe he is this bad. I also think Hackett, nice guy, is an awful head coach. They are trying to make him a pocket passer and that makes him so less dangerous. And his weirdness is off the charts.

He’s a good player and would be perfect for us. And way better than trying to do the stupid flirt game with Beckham. But there’s no way the jets trade him to us.

True. To be fair to Wyoming, they have had 2 winning seasons since Allen left. Very true. And daboll’s resume was very spotty before he got Allen. I’d like to credit McBeane but I think he has to be more Beane. Who was the awful OC before Daboll? I actually think Gailey was a good qb teacher and one of the dumbest things they did was not to draft a guy to learn under him and Fitz. But agree with everything else. It is crazy to think of Allen playing at Bama. A guy like MacJones is the complete opposite of Allen to me. Very limited guy who put up numbers playing with all blue chippers. I was very happy the Pats took him. He’s not awful but I will never be afraid of Mac and Cheese.

For sure. I was so skeptical of the guys with all the “tools” who never really produced. They bust at extremely high rate. While college stats mean nothing, there should be some sense of a high pick dominating. and going forward, I’d still be skeptical of those guys. Allen is a beautiful unicorn. Yeah, I definitely thought he was just hyping up a client. But he was dead on. Too bad it didn’t work for Darnold. crazy thing is I remember Palmer came up with some bathroom app that I thought was a cool idea hah. Fair. It’s just wild that a guy with 56% and 44 td to 21 ints in the mountain west is dominating in the nfl. Wild.

I guess the counter is that Denver seems to ruin every qb, no matter drafted or established. Allen might not be the same player there and been like Osweiler. Amazingly, Buffalo is a model of how to develop a qb right now.

Good post. I guess a comparison would be when nba would draft really young players, from high school or one year out, solely based on potential. Sometimes you get a Kobe or KG, and sometimes you get huge busts. and you’re right do it being able to devote yourself to your craft. Playing a sport in college takes up so much time. You have practice, study hall, lifting, meetings, classes (most schools actually make their players go), class work, studying. And that’s without any social stuff. but the Allen growth is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life. It’s hard to think a consensus number 1 player who had great success in college could obtain what he’s doing now. Much less the guy with “accuracy” issues from Wyoming. Major salute to him and the Bills.

He gets one more year to prove it and it may be time to move on. Maybe kick the tires on Andy Dalton.

The crazy part is that for as much of an awful owner that Snyder has been, he can still make an insane profit if he sells the team. This why you never root for the owner/ team over the player.

1 - seriously? Obviously the talent level he played with is different in Buffalo but the defensive talent level he plays against is better too. As someone who was skeptical of the pick, the idea that the guy who wasn’t that good in the MWC becoming a better player in the nfl melted my brain. 2 - can you think of a player that improved this much from college to the nfl? Brady seems obvious but he actually was better in college than people remember.

Check those years boss. 6 of the happen before the 90s and the last one to do it happened in 1999, 23 years ago! That’s 6 years longer than the Bills playoff drought! so I’m ok with Allen finishing 2nd in the mvp and winning the SB 😎 Curious to see if Starr passed for 5,000 yards that year. He fell a little short - 62.2%, 2,257 yards, 14 tds and 3 ints. In fairness to Bart, he only played in 13 games that year and did add 100 rushing yards and 2 tds. Some nerd out there needs to find a way to translate old stats into the current nfl. Those poor old guys look terrible.

Looks of rough comments on this guy. I love him out of Notre Dame. He had his sister commit suicide in high school, which I can’t imagine does to you. People are acting like some awful dude when the worst think he does is tik tok, which can be awesome. imo, these are type of players you should trade for. Dude played with the corpse of Big Ben and garbage qbs this year. As others have said, he is similar to Davis so it’s not the biggest need. But he is the type of guy who goes to another team, with a good qb, and shows his true potential.

So I hate Jets fans. The Fins are kinda irrelevant and Miami is fun to visit. And the Bills Pats really has never been a rivalry. Every time I met a pats fan or go to boston, they say the Bills are the 2nd favorite afc east team and how much they respect us. Now it could be because I’m super intimating but we viewed them as rival much more than they do us.

Not trying to be cold after what Poyer did but you honestly got to let the season play out. A ton can happen between now and the end of the season. Nfl is a heartless business. Poyer is being a warrior but the injuries have to be a very real part of do you give him another big money deal. Besides qbs, very rarely do injuries get better after you turn 30. Also, Edmunds (who the bills might be more willing to pay because of his age and “potential”) still has to prove he can hold up against the run throughout the season. these guys aren’t going anywhere so there is no rush. Also, with the money Allen is going to make, there are going to be some good players we have to let good. It sucks but that’s the reality of the nfl.

They are paid very well. Also the thing about the nfl is salaries are just kinda locked in so it makes negotiations pretty easy.

Opponent and it took a while but I’m fully ready to admit that Allen is better than EJ Manuel (though maybe if Ej had this coaching staff, his career turns out different!). Not to be that guy but Colts v. jags is an all time classic rivalry on par with Michigan OSU and Duke- Nc.

I mean he did face Rodgers. And KC’s receivers really are nothing special. Elam is going to be a great number 2 cb, maybe even become a number 1 type. Basically Sauce came into the nfl as a shutdown number 1 cb. That matchup between him and Diggs is going to be awesome. Especially when he becomes the number 2 cb when tre comes back. He will be dominant there.
