  1. I might have some of my facts mixed up here, but I was listening to the Dan Patrick show yesterday and he brought up Keith Olbermann joining a pre-game show (i think on CBS). Keith didnt reject the claim, but kept saying "thanks for that dan, my agent isnt going to be happy" and the OJ "If i did it" line. It was quite apparent that it was going to happen and Dan let the cat out of the bag on national radio before the t's were crossed and the i's were dotted. Im sure nobody cares...But its better than looking at one more post about JP being a good DT.
  2. yeah, talk about it for months. I dont hear anyone in the media talking about how much a stretch whittner is now...
  3. While what you are saying is true...value based drafting is how you maximize your draft. Evidently people thought Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Now, if you went into the draft knowing he was going to win 3 superbowls, obviously he is worth more than that. But if the Bears spent their first round pick on Tom Brady, Brian Urlacher wouldnt be in chi-town. The key is to take the guys you want, before everyone else. If everyone else thinks Tom Brady is worth a 7th round pick and you think he is worth a first round pick, you wait until the 6th round to take him. That way you get other players in lower rounds that other teams have ranked higher than Tom Brady, and still get your guy later on. BTW, i found this poll, which I find amusing http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/POLL/results/126711.html
  4. who wuz you b4?
  5. A football team starts 22 players, a punter and a kicker. If you average 3 starters every draft, and they stick around for 5 years (probably about average before the big payday), and can grab a late round punter and kicker, thats 17 of your 22 position players. Fill the other 5 slots in FA, and you are in good shape. But if you average only 2 starters, thats 12 of 22 position players, leaving you to have to spend BIG BUCKS to fill those 10 remaining holes The bills dont have BIG BUCKS. Even if they did, the salary cap would hurt. The key is really to draft at LEAST 3 quality starters ever year. So, while I am all for quality over quantity, we need to get our 3 quality starters out of this draft. And moving up to get AP or CJ is just not in the long-term interest of the team.
  6. 1. Adrian Peterson - Minnesota 2. Patrick Willis - Buffalo 3. Brady Quinn - Cleveland 4. Amobi Okoye - Washington 5.Ted Ginn, Jr - New England
  7. Sidney Rice in Round 2 is my guy.
  8. Nah, Buffalo - Waiting to see what happens with Peterson, or they can draft lynch, or RBBC with 2nd round back. Green Bay - Settling in on Lynch, who will likely be there when they pick. If not, Chris Brown, Cory Dillon or a 2nd round back would work. Tennessee - Has Chris Brown as a Backup Plan None of these 3 teams have the urgency right now. If you see Chris Brown or Cory Dillon sign with some other team, the urgency may increase...but for now, a wait and see approach is prudent. Also SD is in no hurry to move him either. I still say throw our 2nd rounder at them...and let it sit. No more, no less.
  9. You have a cat named doggie? Who is more confused, the cat or the kids? Sorry though. As much as I personally dislike cats, I know how much they, and other pets, mean to families. Best of luck.

  11. Um... trade a 3rd round pick for two 5ths? no thanks.
  12. Damn, I responded to a guy who fell into the crayola box. But I didnt realize it was crayons....
  13. For anyone who does not believe the opponents are set.... I predict these will be our opponents Home: Bengals, Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Patriots, Ravens, Broncos Away: Browns, Dolphins, Eagles, Jets, Patriots, Redskins, Steelers, Jaguars I Double Chad Johnson GUARANTEE it. Only question is the dates, and when the bye week is.
  14. Uninformed? UNINFORMED?!!!!!! I just hope we win a damn game. Look, Ricky Williams IS NOT, i repeat IS NOT the kind of player marv is looking for. End of story. I know, you said it would never happen. Great. You're my hero. Thanks for interrupting my discussion with TIPSTER. I wasnt even talking to you. And for the record, No, I did not read your post. Good Day.
  15. Fine. Except the fact that he was here illegally is justification to deport him. And any illegal alien detained for any reason should be deported, or AT LEAST reported to the FBI.
  16. He's not. And that is what marv means by "football character"
  17. Well, first off, I dont think this would be a money issue. Ricky is under contract, and if traded, it would be up to the recieving team to work out a contract extension. I dont think anyone in their right mind would extend his contract, so unless he is making ridiculous money, I wouldnt think working out a new deal would be an issue. Secondly, in the CFL he played in 11 games and ran for 500 yards and 2 touchdowns and had 2 semi-major injuries. Not the kind of stats I want of my starting RB. But the real problem....this quote: "I really like Toronto, I really like this organization ... you can live here, you know? "
  18. I love it. "You are forgetting Gibran Hamdan." LOL. Say...isnt a certain Drew Bledsoe available?
  19. Except the ISSUE wasnt drunk driving. The ISSUE was an illegal alien was arrested for breaking the law and was not deported. Turned into a major story when he killed someone. Lets say an illegal alien was arrested for breaking a traffic law, allowed to stay in the country and a month later flew a plane into a skyscraper (hmm...sounds eerily familiar). There are 2 issues. 1) how do we stop others from flying planes into buildings and 2) why was he allowed to stay in the country after he was arrested? Same issue.
  20. Royal is sufficient. Rice is a excellent reciever. He is tall. he is fast. Other than Royal, we dont have a good go-to guy inside the 20. Rice can be that guy. He had 23 touchdowns in just 2 years at South Carolina. Another year and he would be a mid-first round pick. He made a mistake coming out early IMO, and didnt run well at his workouts. I think he would be a steal with our 2nd round pick. Evans/Rice/Reed/Parrish - And probably cut PP...
  21. No, but lawrence Phillips is looking for work
  22. How could geraldo not see oreillys point?! His point was CLEARLY that if you are in this country illegally, and commit a crime, you need to be deported. The only reason this is big news now, is that the guy was NOT deported, and wound up killing someone. It has nothing to do with drunk driving. It could have been a shooting, drug dealing, anything. I cant believe the apathy in this country towards illegals. I welcome them all in, but file the paperwork, get a green card, get a job, pay taxes, and learn the language.
  23. Draft is in 2 weeks....
  24. Yeah, its a little hard to say...but I think that the majority of teams who are looking at him are looking at him as a fullback, which clearly he does not want to do, and the 2nd round is historically very early for a fullback (though he is definitely more than a FB). He is a great team guy, but he doesnt want to be a fullback. He will tow the party line wherever he goes, but the key to a successful organization, be it baseball, football, or Kroger is to have people who WANT to be there. I see this as an ideal pick for us, because we can give him a shot at RB, and then next year grab a RB early and move him over to FB if things dont work out.
  25. Okay, after much deliberation, I will publish my first Mock Draft for 2007. 1 - Patrick Willis, LB, Mississippi - Loss of Fletcher/Spikes. Best player at a need position. 2 - Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina - Big WR, Big Hands, ran a slow 40 time, but he plays fast. Could be a good red-zone target. Should be a first round pick but I think he will slip due to a poor 40 time. 3 - Brian Leonard, HB/FB, Rutgers - Have you seen this guy play? Wow. Wants to be a HB at the NFL level, and may be able to pull it off. A bit of a tweener, but he has great hands out of the backfield, and can hurdle tacklers. Ultimate team guy. in Ray Rice's shadows alot last season. 3 - Johnathan Wade, CB, Tennessee - Might be a bit low for him, but perhaps not. Very fast, but doesnt play the run well. Need a CB and he is likely the best one left at this point. 4 - Manuel Ramirez, OG, Texas Tech - I think his stock might be rising a bit, but if there is one spot on our line that we need to address, its RG. Could open a good competition between Pennington/Ramirez/Walker for the two RT/RG slots. 6 - Conrad Bolston, DT, Maryland - BIG Run stuffing DT. He tires easily, and and isnt a great pass rusher, but he can be a big body on obvious running downs. Has potential to Fill a big need late in the draft. 7 - Jared Zabransy, QB, Boise State - I think we will draft a QB at some point on day 2, and I like zebransky. Smart guy, likeable. #3 guy with long term backup potential. 7 - Brandon Harrison, S, Stanford - Good Special teams guy and would also provide much needed depth at the safety position I worry that I might be optimistic on some guys falling (Ramirez/Leonard/Wade), but I am trying to keep it realistic. Let me know what you think.
