  1. The question is going to be whether or not Whittle qualifies as a player gained and whether Gandy qualifies as a player lost. If Gandys contract is in the 3 years 15M range (which i think is nutz), and whittle does not qualify, its possible we get a 4th or 5th rounder. Of course, if we sign Chris Brown or another meaningful FA, its all for naught.
  2. You clearly do not understand how comp picks work....
  3. Interested to see the numbers. Could give us a comp pick next year...
  4. Analogy is a bit flawed. If he paid $100,000 for a car that was worth $25,000 at the time, but in 5 years that car was a relic, worth $500,000, he got a great deal. Perhaps he could have saved 75k, but its still a good deal. Thats why you have to take into account how well he performs before deciding HOW bad a deal this is.
  5. The buyer and seller have reached an agreement. The seller cannot back out of the deal unless the buyer doesnt live up the their end of the contract. Basically, the house is sold unless the buyer decides he does not want to or can't buy. This can happen for any number of reasons 1) Financing falling through 2) Home inspection reveals problems 3) Contract is contingent upon the sale of the buyers current house, and current house does not sell in time specified in the contract. 4) Buyer just gets cold feet 5) Some other reason I cant think of now All 4 (5?) are possible, but basically the house is off the market, but not sold..yet. Call the realtor and find out the status of the house. Give them your contact information, and tell them that if the deal falls through you would be very interested. Be prepared for the realtor to tell you "I just listed a house around the corner from this one" or some other line...they will try to get your business. If you want, meet with the realtor, but the best (and easiest) way out of this situation is simply say "im working with an agent already, I just wanted to see if this house was available" Also, im not sure if they can provide this info, but ask when closing is scheduled for, and give a call back to the agent a couple days/week before the closing to see if everything is going smoothly. Also ask something to the effect of "did you find a well qualified buyer". This is a tough question to ask and for them to answer, but if asked correctly, it will give you a good feel for how solid they feel the buyer is, and how likely it is they wont be able to secure financing. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
  6. How does Triplett, Dockery and Langston = signing guys that did not pan out...?
  7. You kidding me? First off, its April 1st, so nothing is going to be taken seriously here, 2nd, there is no way whittner knows what we are going to do in the draft. Even if Marv knows already (and I doubt he does), there is no way Whittner is in on the conversation.
  8. If your last three are Peter Frampton, Brian McKnight and Reuben Studdard, we got a good shot at the superbowl halftime show...
  9. Ya'll missing the point. Its not that you need 3 skill positions that were first round picks, its that you need to HIT on your first round picks. 1996: Harrison 1997: Tarik Glenn 1998: Peyton Manning 1999: Edgarrin James 2000: Rob Morris 2001: Reggie Wayne 2002: Dwight Freeney 2003: Dallas Clark 2004: Bob Sanders 2005: Marlin Jackson 2006: Joseph Addai Not sure if Rob Morris is a starter, but, EVERY ONE of them is a productive player, and all but one is still on the team. Thats the key. Dont miss on draft picks, and keep them on your team. Supplement as necessary through Free Agency. But while we are talking about 2nd round RBs....here are the running backs selected in the 2nd ronud since 2000 2000: None 2001: Anthony Thomas, Travis Henry 2002: Deshawn Foster, Clinton Portis, Maurice Morris, Ladell Betts, 2003: None 2004: Tatum Bell, Julius Jones, Greg Jones 2005: JJ Arrington, Eric Shelton 2006: Lendale White, Maurice Drew Third Round Running Backs 2000: Travis Prentice, Ruben Droughns, Doug Chapman 2001: James Jackson, Kevan Barlow, Travis Minor 2002: Brian Westbrook, Lamar Gordon 2003: Musa Smith, Chris Brown, Justin Fargas 2004: None 2005: Frank Gore, Vernand Morency, Ryan Moats, Maurice Clarett 2006: Brian Calhoun, Jerius Norwood,
  10. while he may be available to Green Bay or Tennessee or Detroit for Peanuts, I doubt he would be available for Buffalo for peanuts..
  11. Nice! I'll probably get flamed for this, but Simpson, Reed, two firsts and two thirds for LT...As GM, I might pass on that deal....seriously.
  12. If I were the bills, I would be looking at using a mid-2nd day pick on a QB. If we had a 5th rounder...I'd consider it.
  13. Hell, i'd take Julian Jones for a 5th round pick....
  14. Yep. Thats about as much as I would give up as well. Essentially McGahee for Turner.
  15. WHAT? Portis and Gore and you think they need a Running Back? I am baffled you chose washington and san fran over minnesota and houston (though I dont think they need a back either)
  16. Yeah, look what we gave up to get Losman
  17. Ironic that in 3 days, the first time you look at it is 18 minutes after I post you havent comented...then you hijack the thread. I'll continue for a second here...but the conservtive agenda HAS NOT been rejected. In fact, the majority of americans believe in conservative politics. The problem is that Bush and Congress are not adhereing to conservative reaganesque policies which americans crave. In time, true conservatism will win out. This is why you see, as unpopular as Bush and Congress are, you still see the republican candidates out in front in national 2008 presidential polls. Someone please switch this thread back to Gore....
  18. Oh, I wish i could find the full article....but leaving out the last 'i' is more common than you think! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/997808/posts
  19. Huh? career seems to be done, yet somehow he would be expensive to sign? I'm confused. If he was willing to play for at or near the minimum with incentives on a one year contract, I'd consider it. If his only other option is making eastern motors commercials, he might consider it.
  20. hmm... 3 days and still no molson...
  21. Turner for a 3rd...hmmm...Well...stranger things have hapened. The market for Running Backs is THIN THIN THIN. Let's re-hash NEED A RUNNING BACK NOW Buffalo - NEEDS A RB Tenessee - NEEDS A RB (White) Green Bay - NEEDS A RB Teams that could draft a RB Early New England - Maroney New York - Thomas Jones Cleveland - Jamal Lewis Houston - A. Green/Lundy/Dayne/Gado Oakland - LaMont Jordan Philadelphia - Westbrook Dallas - Barber III/J. Jones Giants - Jacobs/Droghns Minnesota - Chester Taylor Detroit - K. Jones/Tatum Bell/Duckett Teams who ABSOLUTLEY wont be looking for an upgrade at RB Miami - Ricky Williams / Ronnie Brown Indianapolis - Addai Pittsburgh - Willie Parker Cincinatti - Rudi Johnson Baltimore - McGahee Jacksonville - Taylor/Jones-Drew Denver - Henry/Bell KC - Larry Johnson San Diego - Tomlinson Washington - Portis Chicago - Benson Tampa Bay - Cadillac New Orleans - Bush/McCallister Atlanta - Dunn/Norwood Carolina - Foster/D. Williams Seattle - Alexander St. Louis - Stephen Jackson San Fran - Gore Arizona - Edgarrin James I dont think the teams in "Category 2" will give up a whole lot for Turner, considering its a secondary need at this point. But lets assume for the sake of argument, Chris Brown re-signs with Tennessee, moving them back into Category 2. Adrian Peterson Goes to someone before our pick, we grab Willis and Lynch falls right to Green Bay. Now, lets look at the landscape. NEED A RUNNING BACK NOW Buffalo - NEEDS A RB Teams that could draft a RB Early Tenessee - White/Brown New England - Maroney New York - Thomas Jones Cleveland - Jamal Lewis Houston - A. Green/Lundy/Dayne/Gado Oakland - Jordan Philadelphia - Westbrook Dallas - Barber III/Jones Giants - Jacobs/Droghns Minnesota - Chester Taylor Detroit - K. Jones/Tatum Bell/Duckett Green Bay moves into Category C, as does the team who drafted Peterson. San Diego is looking at the big picture. They have a BACKUP running back who will be a UFA after the season. There wont be time for him to negotiate a contract extension during the draft. They cant really franchise a backup running back, can they? Buffalo is waiving a top-100 pick, as is maybe Philly and New York Giants (just an example). Its not fair value, but considering there is not time to work out a contract, its a considerable risk to Buffalo. San Diego needs to get SOMETHING for him. I dont know for sure someone will get him for just a 3rd, but I dont think its outside the realm of possibility here.
  22. Wow, Meacham, Willis AND Peterson! Pass some of that down here buddy, I need a hit!
