Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
JimBob2232 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
He is just a DE in a DT body. His legs are like twigs. his Center of Gravity has to be somewhere around his chest. He clearly was productive against good competition. If he can do the same in the NFL, that will be VERY impressive. I almost wonder if the better answer isn't to have him lose 30 pounds and put him at DE. Such an intriguing and risky pick. Very interested in seeing how this one unfolds. I mean, look at the proportions on this guy. So unusual. https://collegefootballnetwork.com/deone-walker-stuns-at-senior-bowl-with-jaw-dropping-measurements/ https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=916853987151764&id=100064815123338&set=a.563937862443380 https://www.yoursportsedge.com/2023/11/23/deone-walker-i-just-dont-like-the-cardinals/vaughts-views/larryvaught/ -
Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

Really an unusual player. From a Kentucky Expert "Long story short -- injury, disappointing junior season, unique player in a run-stuffer body with a pass-rush first skill set, and poor athletic testing for a prospect whose movement skills need to be the reason he succeeds in the NFL. Deone Walker is not a cookie cutter prospect and will need some coaching/scheme creativity to max out. All of those things added up to create a draft fall. He was good testing away from not falling out of the second round but the poor junior season is ultimately what started this fall." Also seems to be lots of concern with his effort. Rooting for him. Hope he does well...but even on the Kentucky side they didn't seem to love him. -
I was actually thinking about Ewers for our last pick. We need a backup QB - and he has upside. Our Garrapalo.
-
KC Royals ...only hope now is to trade up for Horton.
-
Farmer or Collins.
-
lets see who is left when 56 and 62 are up....im not sure he wouldn't have fallen, but Nolan, farmer, collins, and like 5 good DEs still on the board. too early to move like this IMO....but again, hope I eat my words.
-
Just seems like a bad deal with other good DE and DTs also on the board. I would have waited it out. Hope im wrong in 2 years...
-
ok...this one is VERY puzzling...hope beane knows something...
-
oof. #Bills trade 56, 62 and 109 (fourth round) for #Bears 41, 72 (third round), 240 (seventh round).
-
bills trade up!!! Ezeiraku?? please
-
Golden, Johnson, Amos or maybe Ezeriraku/Scorton But not too excited...see how it falls, hopefully move down
-
hate to take a WR....but ive started thinking on golden
-
Not sure i love how the board is falling here. Might need to go DB or trade down. Still a few good DL options - but starting to get limited.
-
sure does.
-
come on dolphins...take a punt catcher

Rasul Douglas Wants to Stay in Buffalo

if he can be better than Elam - and replaces Elam on the roster for Elam’s salary….thats a win, and the floor here. -
If you are unsure if its solid of not, its not worth the gamble.
-
Sounds like a Naval Academy thing...
-
excited about this one.
-
lol. Bluesky is up!

Its so much easier to root for a team when they are filled with upstanding individuals. For the MOST PART over the years, the Bills organization has been a character organization - with some notable exceptions.

I hate these "he should follow the contract he signed" comments. While I understand the sentiment, thats NOT how NFL contracts work. Teams routinely sign contracts with players with void years. Contracts signed are not guaranteed by the team. First contracts (like James Cook) are largely pre-determined by the league, not a negotiated agreement. In return, players have the right to use leverage they have (via holdouts etc) to make themselves more guaranteed money. Thats how the CBA is set up. Thats what happens in the NFL. This is also why you dont see this kind of behavior in the MLB where contracts are fully guaranteed - on both sides. To be clear, I dont like the way Cook is handling this in public. Its hurt the team, and hurt his relationship with the fan base. But he has every right to seek a new agreement - and frankly now is the right time for him to do so. If I was Beane, I wouldn't pony up $15M, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he gets it. Every year there are new record setting contracts...because the cap keeps going up. So every contract signed becomes what looks like a gross overpay until you look at it in 3-5 years. Take Josh Allen. When he signed his deal in 2001 - his $150M guaranteed deal was the most in NFL history, and his $43M AAV was 2nd only to Mahomes...now he is #14 in AAV below Deshawn Watson, Jordan Love, Goff, Tua, Cousins and Murray. So $15M is probably a good asking price for him. A agree with the sentiment here though. I'd give him $12M or move him for a 2nd round pick if you can get it. If you cant, you're in a box. One that he started (publicly).
