Every time these threads come up people mistakenly believe that "% of bets on one side" = "$ on that side". They're not the same thing. Not even close.

I was looking for the radio calls too; apparently nfl.com stopped doing that this yr.

Beginning to look like a player
BuffOrange replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given that RB is a position with such a short learning curve I still think Reggie Bush 2.0 is a pretty good bet at this point. That means he'll be invisible in some games, and show flashes of brilliance in a few others. There is an enormous gap between a "great game changer" and a guy who "can't play in the league". Pretty much any back-up on any roster can be serviceable at that position with a decent supporting cast. -
Normally don't like these threads, but I got no problem piling on Whitner cause he sucks.

Yah I mean it is possible that he's gone in another couple years. In fact he hinted as much after the St John's game I think (something like "I can't do many more of these")? I just don't think it will be because of this. Hopkins isn't going anywhere unless he gets a sweet offer from a good 'down' program looking for a coach - say an Indiana or something (and honestly a program like that will likely be able to pick from more proven guys). He wisely turned down Providence last yr 'cause he knew that wouldn't do his career any good.

It was George Wilson's fault
BuffOrange replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hardly impossible for a block to be the kicker's fault. I don't know if it was or it wasn't because I don't have the luxury of studying the trajectory of the ball. It's great that you gloss over my entire post and try to pick a fight with me though instead of the guy who was ya know, actually complaining about Lindell. -

You know this how exactly? If that FG is good the Bills would've gone for 2 at some point after one of their TD's. And depending on the outcome of that 2pt conversion, they would've either been down 35-33 or tied at 35. Either way the play-calling would've been ultra-conservative (because that's what NFL coaches do in that spot) and the Raiders would've used their time outs on defense, and we would've set up for a FG. And then if that FG is good, maybe Oakland gets it back with a minute left instead of 14 seconds. Lindell needs to make that kick, yes (it was 39 yards btw). But it's possible it ultimately worked in our favor. -
Being more of a basketball fan of the program, I'm not sure how I feel about this. It was always fun for me ripping on the overrated ACC. As a founding member of the Big East it just doesn't feel right. The positive spin: I'm sure in time I will get over it. Lets face it - the Georgetown rivalry, like Bills-Dolphins, has lost a lot of its luster. A Big East conference including Lousiville, Marquette & Depaul is ridiculous anyway. I think those that think this will make Boeheim retire earlier than he otherwise would have are mistaken. If you actually listen carefully to some of his pressers and interviews, he is more adaptable to change and less "old school" than you might think for an old guy. I've already hear rumors that the ACC may include MSG in their tourney rotation, which would be nice. As for football, who cares really. Ask any fan 8 years ago their biggest rivals and BC, VT, & Miami would all be in their top 5. The only 'rivalry' worth a damn they lose is West Virginia. Plus they ensure being in the BCS so it makes sense.

Official BILLS vs RAIDERS GAMEDAY THREAD
BuffOrange replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For all 7 minutes it seemed like the ball was in the air, I'm just waiting and waiting for the little yellow flag to pop up in the corner of the screen. JFC HOW THE F*&^ WAS THAT NOT HOLDING ON THE RAIDERS LT? -
Drew Bledsoe Comments on Buffalo

You reference the winning record which was '04, somebody shoots that down, and your reply is this blathering gibberish about '02 and straw-man arguments. -
Drew Bledsoe Comments on Buffalo
BuffOrange replied to Nix Buddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess that's where we disagree. Well not as much a disagreement as you just being wrong. Nobody thinks or says he's a top 5 QB. He is talked about more than Chad Henne, Jason Campbell, and Alex Smith because he plays for Dalls, sure. And a huge % of that talk is about how terrible he is despite being better than all of them. About the only guy in the media I ever hear defend him is Michael Irvin, who correctly reminded everyone how much the team sucked and couldn't ever sniff the playoffs before he became the QB. -

Not to mention it wasn't snowing & raining for 7 games in 2003, which was the # of games we failed to score a single offensive TD that year. Uh...no. What have you been listening to - a local Dallas show hosted by Romo's mom? Unless there's a radio or tv show on espn I'm not aware of, he's the opposite of successful "reputation-wise". And if he played for Seattle or Jacksonville nobody would relentlessly bash him for playing one of the best games a QB will play vs the Jets all year. -
Best Moments as a fan of the Buffalo Bills

Matt Darby with the pick in the endzone -
They had a 9pt lead with 3 minutes left with superstar Jamarcus Russel under center and the Bills very nearly ruined thousands of suicide pools?

Drunken thoughts after the game
BuffOrange replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're completely missing the point. You may be right about the QB and not the OL being responsible for the extra blitzer. I don't pretend to be Ron Jaworski and anyone here who does is kidding themselves. My point is that wouldn't stop everyone from blaming the OL if Fitz had held on to the ball an extra split second - I've seen it dozens and dozens of times, at which point I'm the one defending the OL, who everyone else is "slammin". -
3.5 is what I expected and I'd guess it would've been 2.5ish if they had played week 1. So a little, but not too much (although any point that crosses the 3 line is kind of a big deal).

Tony Romo vs. Mark Sanchez...."Battle"... of the
BuffOrange replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing about that is that it's not really true. Romo didn't play great vs. the Giants but wasn't any worse than Eli in that game. And he actually played pretty well in the infamous Seattle game. Sanchize does have an uncanny ability to be involved in playoff games where the opponent misses about 98% of their FG's, so he has that going for him, but I don't think that's really sustainable going forward. -
Drunken thoughts after the game
BuffOrange replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally agree with your synopsis of the QB and OL and it pretty much aligns with what I've been arguing for years now - good QB play makes pass protection look better than it is. People are saying the OL played great. IDK, they were not bad and they were better than I thought. But that's about as much as I'm willing to give them. I mean watch the 2nd Chandler TD - if that's any other Bills QB in the last 10 years you're looking at a sack and potentially a game-changing fumble and everyone is screaming bloody murder about how horrible our line is and my personal favorite "Joe Montana would get killed behind this line" posts. -
One game is a bit premature for these "I told you so" threads. I remember reading the same thing about Pat Williams after our defense crushed David Carr on opening day in '05. Besides 3 of the 4 TD's were thrown to guys who were covered pretty decently.

The Most Encouraging Thing about this Win
BuffOrange replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would the Bills want future opponents to respect his arm if he is in fact fully capable of throwing a 50 yard strike? There is no doubt in my mind it was an F-U by Gailey to the Chiefs. -
If you want to count single seasons I suppose you could say Antawoin '98 or Henry '02 or even McGahee '04. But in terms of consistency and actually performing for more than just one year, he is the best since Thurman.
-
Wow. I admit I did not think this guy was going to be good.
-
That might have been my favorite play of the game. As it turned out it wasn't the difference maker in a lopsided final score. But it's the sort of unheralded play that can quietly decides games in the NFL because it could've easily saved us 3 points. If he doesn't break those tackles KC gets the ball back in good field position and only needs a couple 1st downs vs a likely prevent defense. And for all anybody knew at the time, that could've been the difference in the game. Teams with Manning and Brady always get/save those extra 3pts at the end of the half, where as the Bills rarely do.

The Most Encouraging Thing about this Win
BuffOrange replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry but this is pretty much baloney. Did you read this board after these games? 1. Opening day 2007 vs Denver. 3rd&short up by 2 with 3 minutes left, JP throws deep for Evans for the kill shot. Lee is behind his man but JP overshoots him by a couple yards. "WTF ARE WE DOING? HAND THE BALL OFF AND LET OUR STEEL CURTAIN DEFENSE PROTECT A 2PT LEAD!". 2. MNF, 8pt lead vs. Dallas. 3rd & goal they take the training wheels off Edwards and let him throw endzone. Interception. "WTF HOW DO WE NOT SETTLE FOR THE FG AND AN 11 POINT LEAD!" You may also recall that a fake FG and a bomb to Evans blew games open vs. Seattle & St Louis during the 5-1 stretch in '08. I am not saying that Jauron was a good coach. But the revisionist history about what the current coach did better than his predecessor after a win is always ridiculous. Players make plays and when they do the coach looks smarter. -
Yes, that too. I can't listen to nonstop baseball talk between Feb-Aug but his football analysis is pretty sound imo. Sports radio I guess is like pizza toppings - nobody ever agrees on who is passable. I like how Schopp calls out these stupid cliches and group-think coaches. People here like Howard Simon and I just don't get it. He went on the air a couple years ago after a GB-Min MNF game and said "ya know i changed my mind, our qb sucks, Rodgers proved you can make plays without great protection". I mean really Howard - you're just figuring this out - was that the first non-Bills nfl game you've ever watched?
