You painted yourself into a corner with your unique claim that EJ has good mechanics. This required you to come up with a blanket statement that Fitz has the opposite. Neither statement is true of course. I'm pretty sure I read you right--always have, as have many others here.

But maybe I could get coach Lee to help me with my post mechanics so that I could be more like you---a poster with good mechanics but who too often and all the time forgets his good mechanics and produces bad posts....

Perhaps i missed it....but where does Kelly ever say that EJ has good mechanics?

  2. I'd assume the argument is that EJ can demonstrate good mechanics, but falls back to bad habits too often. And that Fitz and those others are just always throwing with poor mechanics.

But, of course, I'd argue that if you "fall back" to bad habits often, you have bad mechanics.

I agree with your take on this.....

Although....I would call the mechanics "inconsistant"

The bottom line is u cant do something well to start and keep reverting back to something that does not work.....simple as that

  3.

I'm guessing Bruce Arians trades for him. Perfect fit.

The Bills definitely aren't trading for Glennon. Whaley drafted Manuel in the same draft class that had Glennon. Trading away the unproven Manuel for the unproven Glennon would make Whaley have to admit he made a mistake at most important decision of all even though Glennon hasn't proven anything either. He'd be on the hook for both Manuel and Glennon! I just don't see Whaley even entertaining this idea. He made his bold pick in that draft and that's it.

I cannot see in what world we would trade for Glennon

  4.

I know they don't want to hear this, but it may take Manuel training camp and half the season to become comfortable in an entirely new system. These young QBs don't get as much off season practice time as they used to.

There are so many variables that any and all things are possible. It's possible Cassel may start the season because he grasps the offense much more quickly and Manuel comes in midway through the season, due to either poor play or an injury to Cassel, and Manuel could look very good because he had the extra time to get the offense down without being rushed.

And if that happens I am ok with that

A side note to this.....Rex Ryan keeps talking up TT every time he gets

  5.

Anyone who considers Charles Clay a primary weapon simply doesn't watch games... TE must be addressed this draft... There's a very good crop this year, and there's NO EXCUSES not to get it done. WR needs attention too. Watkins may be uber-talented, but he won't always create dangerous mismatches on his own. We still need that big-threat guy to free up Sammy to make big plays... And I do mean BIG. -6'3" or better.

Some people are all about filling holes. Which is fine, but it doesn't win championships. Offense is about lethality. You need that one-two punch nobody can shut down... That's what gets bubbling teams over the top.

Clay is just coming into his prime and is getting better every year

We do need another TE......but Grey is VERY intriguing

People that talk about needing another WR seem to discount Robert Woods......which I really dont understand that kid is a flat out baller

Watkins WILL create those mismatches because that is really how good he really is

We really need better wooly mammoth's in front of our weapons......we have enough weapons

  6. Every team without a good QB wants to run the ball effectively and always be able to fall back on it, John. It's not that simple to run the ball and have it "work no matter what."

No. I don't know what he's trying to say. Either EJ is this amorphous blob of QB talent or he's "an excellent backup." He can't be both. Young QB's go up or down, they don't plateau this early.

Is it fair to say that we really dont know what EJ Manuel is?

I think that is fair given the situation......I am willing to let Greg Roman figure that out.....

And no...not every team wants to effectively run the ball.......a lot of teams subscribe to "its a passing league"

I do believe in the "lets run the ball" offense though especially when you have our defense.

I am in wait and see mode on a lot of this......Rex Roman has been proclaimed a "innovator" by many.......I want to see it first

I am a little nervous about our OL situation....expecially when every coach that gets near a mike says that they have work to do in that area.

  7. That is my point. How do we know he's an excellent back up?

Is Kyle Orton really relevant here?

Come on Chan u know what he is trying to say

    Lets go back to Edwards.......

A lot of people feel that Trent started playing badly after he took the vicious hit.....but he did in fact come out and play well for one game after that....how do we know that it wasnt a matter of the OC not being able to adjust to what defenses are doing......

You know its interesting because it takes me back to what Rex Ryan (and Greg Roman) want to do......run the ball......if you can effectively run the ball then taking a QB out of the game plan becomes obsolete....because you have a foundation that you can fall back on that is gonna work no matter what.......and now the QB becomes on jockey on the back of a racehorse.

  8. As you stated there are limitations to Chandler's game. On the other hand there are strengths to his game. He has tremendous hands and he gets open.Even when defenses know that he is the secondary receiver on most pass plays he has an uncanny ability to still get very open. You don't think that those assets will be utilized by one of the most accurate passers in the game who has demonstrated a tendency to utilize his TEs?

Chandler is a very earnest blocker who is better screening the player he is blocking than moving him. Maybe the fairest way of viewing him is not as a conventional TE with receiving and blocking responsibilities but viewing him as an in-line big receiver who gets open and catches the ball.

Small deals that make you a little better are smart and good deals.

    Guys.......something to keep in mind

Keep in mind that the bills kept Grey OVER Chandler......a biult up QB/WR who was on the waiver wire last year........came in and immediately became more noticable on the field then Scott Chandler

Why? Because Grey doesnt get his ass kicked as a blocker while still being able to be a threat as a receiver......THAT is why Scott is gone

Versitility is big in Roman 's offense

  9. Im not knocking your draft.....

But I gotta ask......with a run dominant offense like we plan on playing........and no free agent pickups for the OL.....and Christ Williams and his back issues....and Cog being out of football for a year and a total wild card......

And the fact that there will be quality OG's in the 2nd round......and the fact that we already have a dominant defense.....

HOW do we not go anywhere but OL or TE with that 2nd round pick?

And it really isnt reaching for BPA if that happens to be a position of need.

We got Brown in what the 3rd round? Bradham came in what round?

One thing I would also mention.....we drafted a LB late last year who I think has a ton of potential (got better every week last year too) in Randal Johnson

  10. Ha ha, here is last year: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/168072-spotrac-contract-forecast-cj-spiller/?fromsearch=1

Here is another (also predicted the trade up for Watkins): http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/165886-1-bold-offseason-prediction/?fromsearch=1

I didn't go back further but it's there. CJ will be great in NOLa if he can stay healthy.

    Thats a big if Kirby

BUT....I wish no ill will against CJ Spiller.....I wouldnt have bringing him back in the future (at a much cheaper cost) if things dont work out in NOLA

  11. Just because it's the best case scenario, doesn't mean you believe in it.

Best case scenario for my life is winning the lottery tomorrow. I don't believe it will happen.

    Chan.....come on now

I'm curious what will happen if EJ puts up sick numbers. Please save all these EJ bashing comments and call out the hypocrites who said them now, but not in December if EJ has a monster year.

Oh I am sure there are fans who are taking notes on who is saying what at this point

For my part? Im not gonna call anybody out because I get it........the qb position is the most frustrating position and HAS BEEN the most frustrating postiion for years in this FIFTEEN YEAR playoff drought......and I have empathy with all those frustrated fans

But I have not yet given up on EJ Manuel......
