  1. I think people are just referring to the usual new QB progression. Since Tyrod has never played in a game that matters, nobody has ever game planned for him. Just like a great minor league hitter gets called up and pitchers don't know his weaknesses yet, or a great minor league pitcher dominates until the second time around the league when hitters know his tendencies and whether he tips his pitches, etc.

I guess I do get that

But in the NFL the minor league would be college correct?

TT is in a very unique situation.....he is NOT coming straight out of college. This is a NFL veteran. A guy who has been through ....what.....4 training camps and preseasons?

    Its a unique situation

  2. Nope, not at all Kyle. EJ played well as I have said, but I'll speak slower so you can catch up, a few good preseason throws doesn't automatically make him great, all the Bills QBs look pretty good this preseason FWIW. To hang your hat on one or two preseason throws is comical. Obviously EJ and MC were close and the Bills couldn't justify $4+ million on a backup, so they went with the cheaper option. Pretty self explanatory IMO.

It is a little more complicated then that......the bills are biult to win now so if EJ was not playing at least as well as Cassell they would not have released him.

Two good things about EJ.....while his progress has been slower then anyone would have liked...he is in fact showing it and Tyrod Taylor appeared on the scene allowing EJ to hold the clipboard a while longer and continue to work on his game.

I personally hope TT becomes the next big thing.....and EJ stays on a extension past his rookie contract allowing us to become good at the QB position overall

  3. I keep hearing the "figuring out fast" thing when people talk about Tyrod Taylor.....but nobody can give any indication of how that is going to happen.

    - Yes.....TT is a threat to run.....everyone knows this

    - No....TT is not a one dimensional running QB.......he has SHOWN this......you can see him go threw his progressions in the pocket and he has the calmest demeanor I have seen at QB in a while......even while he is moving around in the pocket. THis is not a QB that sees a different color jersey, takes his eyes from downfield, and starts running. You can see that he FEELS PRESSURE

    - He flicks his wrist and the ball is out with velocity.....seems much more accurate then given credit for as well

    - Then of course....when targets are covered he scampers for 1st downs with ease

What is there to figure out? Keep in mind the bills are not gonna pass all day anyway.....we are going to tote the rock a ton

  4. That's hysterical. Somehow I got painted as an EJ hater because I thought/think it's less than likely that he develops into a franchise QB and now somehow I am a Cassel defender? Matt Cassel sucks. He is a backup QB in this league. But we might need one of those at some point. I just think it's hysterical how so many people on this website got/get so butt hurt at any criticism of EJ and play Twister in order to defend him but think it's funny to mock a guy to no end who has actually won games in this league, led a team to the playoffs and played in a Pro Bowl. I'll make a friendly bet with everyone on this board that EJ Manuel never throws 96 TD's in his NFL career. That's how many Matt Cassel has. So keep reveling in your EJ consolation prize that Cassel got released. And for the hundredth time, I thought EJ earned the #2 job and I really don't have that much of an issue cutting Cassel. I just wish the Bills had a little more experience in the QB room heading into this, of all, seasons.

Metz....I dont care what anyone says your a good guy....but serously.....look at what your writing and please see what you are saying

Oh AND I actually hope you are right and that EJ does not meet the Cassell TD quota....because I want him to stay with this team as the backup QB and watch Tyrod Taylor go onto be the next big thing

  5. Cassel was not cut because of money. He was beat handily by 2 younger more talented guys. Why does it have to be so complicated? The fact that the Bills are saving money is nothing more than a bonus. Cassel did not earn his spot on this team. See ya!

I am as happy as anybody the way they went with the QBs

    but

I absolutely belive cap space was a factor

  6. I wouldn't have kept Matt Cassel as my #3 if Andrew Luck was my #1 and Matt Hasselbeck was my #2. We are in a little bit of a different situation here. And I understand not keeping him because of his contract too. I guess in an ideal world, they would've negotiated his contract in half and they could've kept him. You realize when I say this that I'm talking about keeping him at the expense of a Matthew Mulligan or whoever the fifth tight end is. I sincerely hope this does not come back to bite them.

Matt Hasselbeck? Isnt he also a injury prone qb?

  7. No, I would've kept Cassel as my #3. I just really think they're rolling the dice with their first and second options. And I love Tyrod Taylor. I'm glad he won the job, I think he clearly earned the job and I can't wait to watch him play on Sunday. And it's not like I own a Matt Cassel fathead. I just liked him as insurance. That's it.

It would not have bothered me if they they kept him......but the bills have managed to clear over 15 million in cap before the start of the season.....lets see what they do withit

No one is going to claim him at any salary.

I think that is a bit over the top.....QBs are so hard to find and he did not look bad in preseason.

  8. Yeah, we suck. Instead of listening to you, they drafted one in the 2nd round who's starting.

When will they ever listen to you...

Actually it was the 3rd lol Darby was in the 2nd.

But I get the gist of what your saying...:)

I honestly think O'Leary is going to practice squad....maybe some games to get him there and not get picked up?

And Gragg? That guy has looked very good this offseason.......I think he is gonna get playing time

  9. I am just glad there aren't any former JETS in the at rb on the roster. REX keeps bringing in Jet retreads for a look see. Doesn't he know they were among the worst teams in football last year. Now, if he was bringing in guys from all around the league, I could argue he was making a justified search for talent...but, no, he is going to the well to often with ex Jets.

How many of them stuck with the team?

Peoples heads will eruipt if Brown is average at best and annointed as the second option. There is little to no chance people will pitch a fit

I think they are looking at Karlos Willaims for that spot
