I just looked him up. He has a good voice, seems like an upgrade to the usual crews.

Yeah, I made sense of it (except the 0 catches for 16 receiving yards). I just never really lost faith that he was a playmaker during that period, which in retrospect is a bit of a headscratcher.

I know it's off topic, but biglukes' post made me look up Roscoe's stats. 2009: 3 receptions for 34 yards... and 5 fumbles. That has to be a mistake, right? http://www.nfl.com/player/roscoeparrish/2506394/profile Looking further, the Cleveland game seems to be contributing: 0 receptions for 16 yards (?) with 2 fumbles. I really did like Roscoe, but wow....

Guys who looked okay last night and who didn't
Matt in KC replied to bowery4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looks to me like you're right. I didn't go back and look at any of his sacks from last year. I heard he had a variety of rush moves, and that he was much better against the run lat year than earlier in his career. His rush moves so far look like trying whatever comes to mind. It looks like he's moved around fairly easily, off balance much of the time. I suspect he'd still be relatively easy to block and move to open a run lane. He looks much bigger and stronger than Maybin to me. Has he held the POA in the first two PS games? I may well have missed it. (Not trying to be sarcastic or whatever.) -
Guys who looked okay last night and who didn't

Helped themselves - Good showings Kyle Williams - not that he needs "help', but for the second game in a row he looks like a monster out there: fast and strong, a real powerhouse, even when being doubleteamed, which seems to be every play. Dareus - I love our DTs! Glenn - I think he's been solid the first two games. I forgive him for the penalties (so long as he settles down). I was one who worried about him playing tackle, but that is now forgotten. Graham - He has really earned playing time and looks like he's working hard to keep getting better. I thought WRs were supposed to take awhile to contribute. He's gone from a head-scratcher (little guy taken too high) to a very pleasant surprise who looks ready to get on the field in the opening game. Howell - Covered well in other threads. He's now on my radar. Brooks - He seems to have good instincts and is playing better than I think he should for his draft position. I wish he'd actually look for the ball instead of just breaking up the passes. Maybe when he gets more comfortable... (did he have many INTs in college?) Dickerson - He looks like a weapon we could use. i liked what I saw. Vince Young - He looked pretty good to me, much bettr than he's been, and definitely our #2 QB now Hurt themselves Byrd - I saw several poor tackles. I'm not down on Byrd, but I think he had a bad game. Barnett - He looks a bit lost out there, not at all the LB we've seen recently Hagan - not sure it was his fault, but where was he? Easley - He slipped to "lucky to make the PS" status IMO Other Anderson - He looks to be a bit out of control, a disruptor for sure, but all over the place, often far from where he started or the ball -
Aaron Williams Criticism?
Matt in KC replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, Williams got beat on that play. But, run it 100 times and I think there are penalties called 30 times (with the real refs), Jenkins beats him 40 times and Williams breaks up the pass the other 30 times. Why extrapolate this play to Williams being a bad corner? He looks like a young player who is progressing, some days beter than others. -
Aaron Williams Criticism?
Matt in KC replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw that. I think the normal refs would have flagged it half of the time (or a bit less). It was a veteran move that I think gets flagged only if the ref has a good view of it. Williams looks to me like a young talented player who is still growing, some days/plays better than others. I agree with this. It looks to me like the D line isn't getting it's hands up when the QB throws and the LBs are just not making those passes significantly harder to complete. -
I'll concede you're right: after the first six games last season the Bills went cold, because they didn't approach preseason right and put ll their energy into the first... six games. Is that what you'r ereally arguing? Like who? Do you think the Bills missed out on a better coach because they didn't offer enough money (because they spent too much on Mario this year?)? Whatever dude. Please get "sooo done with this team" as soon as possible.

Though of course they opened the season against Kansas City prepared, motivated and inspired. The Oakland defense is nothing to sneeze at either. So their offense scored the first 3 TDs starting in the second quarter before we scored the next three. I don't think this means we played like it was preseason. It was a good close hard-fought game.

Bills need to fix LB's and DB's core
Matt in KC replied to TitansBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got dizzy after the OP suggested the third or fourth player switch to another position. Staying out of the details (because all that motion makes me nauseous) I don't think all of those changes have any chance of making our defense better. -
One thing worth noting from tonight's scrimmage
Matt in KC replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen last night's game yet (on NFL network mid-day today) but I was very impressed with Kyle in the Redskins game. He looked like the best lineman on the team. I didn't think he got enough praise here for his play in his return. He didn't look to have any sign of injury or holding back. -
Welcome to (posting on) the board! I really like your roster. You show many of the guys I see making the team that aren't on other people's lists including Young, Edwards, Johnson, McKillop, McGee and Potter. I'm not convinced of is Ruvell Martin. I like Roosevelt better, but I think Martin has been stronger in camp from the reports I've read. I suspect they go with 5 WRs unless someone really shines. It could be Sam Young over Sanders. And, I think Asper goes to the PS, yes risking losing our 6th round pick. I just don't think he's ready to play, for any team. If he keeps up the good play I can see Prince Miller taking a spot, or at least going to the PS, where he was last year I believe. I could see him sticking, but getting released and moved to the PS once (if) McGee heals.

Whoa. Why are you being such an !@#$ to a great guy that worked his butt off but didn't work out? It takes all three of these to make it in the NFL: 1 Attitude 2 Body 3 Football talent Jasper had the attitude and made the team by bringing his body in line with what the team wanted. So he didn't have the talent. We gave him a fair shot and I don't think it was a waste of anyone's time.

#41 = Nick Sukay. How Sukay would it be to grow up with that last name?

Training Camp Observations, Mon 8-13
Matt in KC replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Though if they are struggling at half speeed that does kind of say something, right? I think we all know to take these reports for what they are worth. I have especially liked seeing who is getting reps with which level (i.e. first team) which gives some insight into the team's thinking. " are getting rec -

How did Tank Carder look?
Matt in KC replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tanks for nothing! -
Jasper Tweet after being released: Great guy. I really hope he does well (in whatever) and we hear how he's doing in the next year or two.

I agree Hagan is ahead of Easley. Way ahead at this point if you ask me. In a quote last week Gailey sounded like he wanted to say he had a spot and had to kind of awkwardly soften his language. I'm going to mangle the paraphrase, but it was something like "Hagan is really doing well and is a lock to um, really lock up a spot, if he uh keeps up his strong play." At first I was suprised McKillop was ahed of Carder on the depth chart in front of Carder because I hadn't heard of him and figured he was camp fodder and motivation for Carder to beat him out. That said, now thatg I'm paying attention, I think he's playing verywell and is likely to make the team.

Good luck out there, "Big Shadow" Mike!

Marcus Easley....the new James Hardy
Matt in KC replied to K-Gun10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Easley is a good candidate for the PS unless he starts lighting it up. Yes, he had two years off. Why not let him condition and practice for another year and take another look next preseason if he's not ready yet? He's still not playing near the level he ended last preseason, so I know he's likely to grow with a little more time. I think we go with just 5 WRs: Johnson, Nelson, Graham, Jones, Hagan, supplemented by the RB/FB/HB/TE/Slash positions. Roster spots are too valuable this year for Roosevelt, Martin, Aiken or Easley unless they step it up. I have a lot of confidence in Roosevelt and like him on the team more than the others (as they are preforming now). I don't think we've seen the end of him this Preseason. -
This is just a very sneaky way of getting him back to our practice squad without another team picking him up!

My best guess is they whistled it dead, then the head ref asked the ref watching the goal line if the player to down it stepped into the EZ first and he said something like "um, yeah, someone did... I think it was him," which led them to call it a touchback. Horrible call. That's all I've got trying to make sense of it....
