I'll start with me first. None. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I'm sure that this doesn't come as a shock to the masses on this board. I go thru spurts with my posts. It's usually is based on how I'm feeling that particular day. The majority, if not all, of my information comes from the internet, newspaper, that damn addictive ESPN and it's scroll, idiots at work and from some of our fellow posters. Surprised? Just a gut feeling but I'm sure you're not. I'm just an armchair QB wannabe who lobs on the couch agonizing over the misfortunes of my favorite team, the Buffalo Bills. I'm ALWAYS trying to devise and conjure up any conceivable way to help to improve MY team. I'm sooo sick and tired of the last several years. I tried to see the good of what this organization and it's administers were doing. I even disagreed at times, matter of fact, I was even right once in awhile! By the way, did you ever play pin the tail on the donkey? I won that once or twice too! Even when I don't enter a post I still read this board faithfully. I'm not intending to offend anyone but I do see alot of posters like me on this board. So before we all burn Marv, Jauron and the first born of our newly aquired "depth" FAs, can we let this thing play out alittle bit before we write this season off? Thanks, I appreciate your time to read this much too honest confession. PS. For the ones who REALLY do have the experience that I asked for in the title of this post, could you be nice enough to give your professional input? Us diehards really need to have some accurate perspective. Thanks again everybody and I hope that WE all have a very satisfying season.

Most of our FA signings are built for speed.

I think that there is three components that is being overlooked. It seems that Marv is truly assembling speed, character, and chemistry. I don't think that there is any kind of measuring device that determine what these last two qualities can equate to. I know that New England parlayed a bunch of no-names and seasoned veterans into championship teams. Maybe it can be our turn. Matter of fact there is suddenly an eerily similiar blueprint going on in Buffalo. By no means are we able to compare ourselves to them at this time but this might be the beginning of good things to come. We even have a coach who, on paper, have a very similiar parallel to Belichek's previous coaching history. He found great success on his second time around. Can we be as fortunate? -

One last observation. I failed to mention that we do have the BEST STs in the league. With Moorman booming the ball for great field position and awesome punt/kick returners, we have a great advantage for our newly vamped defense. It makes it so much easier to play from ahead than from behind when it comes to field position. This only makes it more effective to control opposing offenses with our speed defense. Speed should always be the first priority and I think that's exactly what Marv is accomplishing. -
Matt Bowen is considered one of the faster safeties in football. The Bills signed him for his speed and ability to fly down the field. Andre Davis has size and speed. He's 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds coming out of Virginia Tech. That's as fast as what Lee Evans runs. Davis was the Browns' second-round draft pick in 2002, taken 11 spots after Josh Reed. The Patriots acquired him from Cleveland for a fifth-round draft choice last August. Larry Tripplett is a smaller, quicker, penetrating lineman suited to the one-gap style used by Colts coach Tony Dungy. That's precisely the defense the Bills are adopting under new head coach Dick Jauron and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. In addition we have Everett, who if stays healthy, could be a big time pass catching TE. Lee Evans is a burner who now has great experience. It would be great to be able to retain Eric Moulds but only if he has a good attitude otherwise it would be time for him to go. Now if MaGahee can shut his mouth, stay healthy and perform like we all know how he can and with our young D-Line and our solid CBs, this line-up is really starting to look formidable. Obviously we need to pay attention to our O-Line and I think we are and will. I'm also starting to be concern with our LBs. Spikes took a serious injury, Posey has never has been outstanding and is aging and Fletcher is getting up there in age also. Crowell hopefully will be a bright spot in this position. I would like to see some kind of infusion in this area if we can. Last but not least is our QB situation. I won't comment here other than to say that it would be quite a blessing if JP could come with a solid performance this year. This would make a huge difference for everybody. One last aspect that I would like to mention. People can say what they will but from all the early reports on Jauron he seems to be a class act and who players really respect and play for. I think with a 16 game season it's more than being lucky to win Coach of the Year like he did in 2001. I think this time I like that we're not getting any respect or high expectations. We have no pressure to be at any lofty goals. Underdogs seem to have more motivation than favorites. With more speed, focus, motivation and hopefully team chemistry this makes a very dangerous trap for teams who will be overlooking us. I hope that we are all in for a very pleasant surprise this year. Good luck to our favorite team-the 2006 Buffalo Bills!

Would using a mid to late draft pick on a RFA be
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I posted this a few days ago and lo and behold the Bills go and invite a RFA (Reggie Wells) to town. KC is known AND has a very offensive line intact right now. This may very well be a good, young prospect for us. I'm curious if this guy gets considered by the Bills in the near future. -
I think right now the way our OLine is and has been we need some instant continuity. I don't foresee us solving this in the draft. While I'm not casting an opinion on your candidates, I will say that if we fill our need(s) on the OLine by signing a few veteran FAs as a stop gap for the next year or two then drafting some good, young prospects (with our some of our 2nd and 3rd rders, possibly a 6th rder on a RFA like KC's Jordan Black) then this would provide us with an even keel of some modest success during this time period. I think that this might be the best approach to keep some fans in the seats. Our best chance of having a cohesive unit for the immediate time and also for the future would be FAs now and then to incorporate our young prospects as we go.

With the Titans signing S Hope, where's S Tank?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a trade I would do in a heartbeat. Moulds for Philly's SS Michael Lewis and swap our 1st rd picks, Buffalo's #8 for Philly's #14. I just think with our unsettleness at QB we should concentrate more on defense and a power running game than be aerial oriented offense. Sign OL warriors like C Mike Flanagan and OG Jon Runyan and then draft a WR with the 14th pick to groom. Florida's WR Chad Jackson is a interesting prospect and could be a nice replacement for Moulds down the road. -
What FA DT run stuffer do you think Marv&Co.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A kinder version would be a "feasible asset". Dalton does seem to be most sensible solution. -
With the release of S Milloy and DT Adams, I find it hard to believe that we don't fill these positions with veterans. You don't think that we find starters at these positions in the draft do you? Is DT Edwards, who is already on our roster, our answer? Does anybody know what his health status is? As far as S goes, I was hoping to get Demps but that's all over with now. If we don't have announced visits in the next 24-48 hrs at these positions then I don't know what we should expect for these replacements. So far as S is concerned, Tank Williams looks to be the best avail at this point. Any other suggestions for S candidates?

KC wanted to resign Dalton in addition to signing Bernard. Now that Seattle resigned Bernard expect KC to be tripping over themselves to resign him immediately. Do some research on this guy and you'll see that he could be quite a bargain in dollars and ability. If Buffalo doesn't hurry up and throw their hat in the ring this guy will be gone. -
I would think that the Raiders would make a serious push to trade with the Saints so that they could draft Leinart. The Raiders are very vunerable right now at this position and a California boy wouldn't them at the gate neither. The Jets could surprise people and draft Vernon Davis. This guy looks exceptional and all they really have is Jolly. If this were to happen and the chips were to fall right for the Saints, they could still land up with Mario Williams and a ton of picks. Worse case scenario if Williams were to be gone they'd still land up with a great defensive player, whether it be Ngata or Hawk.

The way Eric Moulds is acting, does anyone know if
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't appreciate the personal attacks. I'm a big Moulds fan but when someone becomes this disgruntled then it's obvious the relationship is nearing an end. Moulds is bitter and for whatever reason, JP, money or wanting a chance to play for a winning team, then it's time to face reality. Some people use all kinds of verbage on the internet. It's actually kind of funny how rude they can be. I would bet that these same people wouldn't use the same words in a live conversation. Maybe I'm wrong. -

Seattle's DT Rocky Bernard has a visit planned with KC. Dalton my not be too far fetched. No matter who it lands up being expect a FA DT to be signed by Buffalo BEFORE the draft. -
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the designated round can be negotiated. With Buffalo being in the earlier half of each round, I wonder if the Bills could work out a fair compensation for a good, young talent that has a little game experience. For example I noticed that KC wants a 5th rd pick for T Jordan Black. He seemed interesting enough of a prospect. Picking early in the rds might be even more beneficial in a trade instead of a pick. This would definitely enlarge the scope for personnel for Marv and Jauron's defensive/offensive schemes. Any RFAs that you think that would be worthy of a mid to late rd pick?
-
There should be at least 2, maybe 3 spots to fill on the O-line and we will definitely sign another DT and S. Here's where a Wlll Demps comes to mind. A solid LB wouldn't surprise me neither. These positions are way too important for the draft to fill. It would be a nice change of pace would be to see one, possibly two draft picks crack are starting line-up. Our 1st rder should be able to accomplish this. Any disagreement to this thought?
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Marv goew back to his KC roots and invites DT Lional Dalton for a visit. I found a link that was pretty interesting. Could he be a "character guy"? I don't know all about that but he does seem to be a motivated guy. Being an undrafted FA seems to indicate that one would really have to overachieve to beat the odds.
-
Maybe Jauron's time in Chicago and the NFC North pays a dividend here. People seem to be clamoring for Mawae but he's 35 years old and wants to play for a team that stands a chance of going deep in the play-offs. As far as I remember, Flanagan has always been a pretty solid guy and C. Could this be a possible canidate for our O-line?

I don't think Pitt secured DT Kimo Von Oelhoffen

Bye-Bye Josh. Donahoe & Co. should have considered making him a pass catching RB. Saban should be all over him. -
I hope Brees and Givens don't land up in Miami.

Isn't Mawae sniffing around down there?
