  1. Great. A thread dedicated to a DB. Dick Jaron would be so happy.
  2. Not bad. Just childish. Good job trying to put words in my mouth. Let me make you happy. I AM saying exactly what you say. Poor people get worse medical care. That is a cold hard fact. They get worse housing. They get worse cars. They get worse ... etc. Healthcare is one of the stops on the road of those conclusions and guess what: for these and many other reasons, poor people are more likely to die sooner than wealthier ones. They don't get NO healthcare--they just don't get great healthcare. A poor person can walk into an ER anywhere and get treatment and not pay their bill. That happens every day in America and trust me: It doesn't happen every day in most countries. By the way, the way it works here, since you love this phrasing, "the poor may die" for lack of healthcare. The way it works in Canada and other socialized systems: the government decides who doesn't merit help and thus decides who dies (or people get put in the back of the line for treatment and die in the queue). Given the choice, I choose the former system and not the later. You trust the government and not yourself. Sign Lance's petition. I won't. And again, I refer you to the many good ideas floating about that are not socialized medicine.
  3. OK. Tell that to the next surgeon you meet who's coming off a 80 hour a workweek. Oops. Let me fix that. Tell that to the next surgeon you meet since they almost all work 80 hour workweeks. Or even the family doctor who's working on Saturday. Or the resident coming off her 36th straight hour. Clearly, they have nothing but more time to give. Doctors are such a lazy bunch.
  4. I feel badly for a few people this season, but worst for AVP. Here's a guy who's growing in the organization and learning the trade. Suddenly, he jumps multiple levels of responsibility with no time to prepare for it. On top of that, he gets 2 primadonna/quitter WRs. A young line that overplays--and then gets 40% of it decimated. A young QB without a line or QB coach. A decent tight end who is lost out of the gate. A bad head coach. An RB controversy (not that there's much doubt who's better...but it's not easy to bench the 1st round draft pick). Alex was given a pile of **** to polish to gold in a week's time. I hope the Bills can move him back to QB coach next year under whatever coaching regime follows Jauron's.
  5. Hope the Dem party didn't ask you to say that or you're going to get an 11K fine.
  6. If Jimbo can come up with a cool billion with investors, I don't think there's a person not named Wilson against it. You've gotta love the spirit of a Bills fan. Even faced with perhaps the bleakest season since the 70s, we can still make up **** to give us hope!
  7. I forget: How old is Steely? Seriously, this thread has all the trappings of a high schooler, starting with multi-colored and sized fonts and ending with 4-5 self-bumps. On to the issue. Many frame this issue as you do: In terms of health care denial. Others say they don't want government running healthcare. I see it from a simple supply and demand perspective. It's wonderful to want every benefit for everyone. The trouble is that there are not enough health care providers (let's just say doctors to keep it simple, with the understanding that nurses, PAs and many others provide health care) to provide all the health care demands in this country. So you are left with some people being left out of the system. Those people are the ones without $$. That is the best system we've got. It's fine and dandy to want to provide everyone with their own doctor but it just can't happen. It's simply not possible. Honestly. I know a whole bunch of surgeons and they are worked to the bone as is. You don't work half as hard as them. Add 30% more people into the system and the system gets more broken than it is now. Magox and others have suggested things to make it better. Tort reform is actually huge because it starts to get to the root of the problem: It could lure more doctors into the field because there'd be more $$ to make. Porting policies is a good idea. I think the co-op idea is solid. Making health insurance a tax deductible benefit for businesses to offer would be HUGE. None of these provide a perfect solution but they are attempts to make it better. So, if you can retreat from Yatzger's farm for a second and rejoin the dialog on this, the national debate on point is a good one. There are some good ideas out there. The extreme-left's position is infeasible in every respect but I credit Obama with keeping this dialog going. Maybe, just maybe, we'll get some substantive reforms.
  8. Yeah, I'd be just thrilled if the Bills were paying him 10M/year to give up more than a sack a game (his current pace).
  9. If you don't understand that it's classless to wish for the death of someone who paid you a lot of money (regardless of the value he received in return), it's on you. What he said is perfectly correct--but still dickish. There are a lot better ways to express what he said.
  10. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1254755471...eTabs%3Darticle
  11. Levitre has been better than I would have thought. Wood is good and will get better. Hangartner isn't a world-beater but I can live with him at center, especially if they don't make him snap shotgun so much.
  12. Nope. That's way wrong. You give it to Ralph. He decides where it goes. You're a fool to think anything else.
  13. I'll say it too. A good WR--even on a ****ty team like the Bills--makes the 3rd down conversion. Who does that on the Bills? Evans? No. Reed. Who blocks downfield? Evans? No. Reed. Evans with Losman was good for catching 1 out of 6 of Losman's desperation heaves and thus made a good highlight reel. Besides that, his catches are often garbage time catches--I don't recall many games where he had a bunch of clutch performances. He's a good #2. That's it.
  14. It's one thing for a coulmnist to say it. OR even a fan. But Thurman's bank account is filled with dollars--and most of those came from Ralph Wilson Jr.
  15. You'd get excited about Fitz? I'm sorry man. It does suck to be a Bills fan.
  16. It's not easy to evaluate Trent after a game like that. Did he play poorly? 100% yes. But you might as well play with no tackles at this point. The original Butler/Bell tackles, to me, were much better than you gave them credit for. (Who cares about that now? We only had a game and a half to even see that line.) They weren't great but occasionally they held the line and at other times, they could form a pocket. These backups are far, far worse. If you get pressure on a Brady, you can make him look average. If you get pressure on a Trent, you make him look like crap. I'd panic and checkdown a lot too with huge guys coming in to knock me out on every play.
  17. Yup. Cowher to Penn State next year or the year after to replace Paterno. And then another 40 years of Penn State domination as the powers of good (and annoying fans). It's one of those Internet rumors that got people so excited that the PSU AD has to be considering it. He'd only be the perfect fit. As if Cowher or Shanahan would want to come here. Wilson will probably rehire Wade next year when Jerry Jones cans him. Wade was the last good coach the Bills had.
  18. The next keys Cowher is going to hold are those to the Nittany Lions.
  19. You are high. On most plays, both tackles got beat. On good plays, only 1 got beat. Trent still sucks but I'm just saying--the guy has **** for a line.
  20. He's such a small part of all that is wrong. Too bad they can't boot 35 players too. And the "GM." And the owner.
  21. Don't lie. You throw out all the negative posters!
  22. "Injuries"? How about "No excuses" after all the excuses?
  23. Doesn't matter much at this point. This team is done. I say give the reigns to April and let him at least throw some passion out there even though he probably sucks...and reboot in 2010. Again.
