I can't wait to go home and dress my
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about the 5 rushes for 0 or negative yards? Think they contributed to the 7 3-and-outs? What about the fact that up until the 9 minute drive by the Steelers, the TOP was equal? Sorry but fatigue is NOT an excuse for the defense and again it wasn't just Drew who played poorly. You could say that about the defense and/or ST's. -

Please expound on this. We all didn't see or read what you just did. -
Drew has got it good yuh know?

Drew doesn't need "great." Apparently what he needs is a RB who can pick-up the blitz. I mean 11 games averaging 1.5 sacks a game with Willis starting versus 3.4 sacks with Travis starting pretty much says it all. Oh and a great TE and good-looking RB (still waiting to be determined) plus some decent WR's can't hurt. -

Thanks, Norman. Uh huh. To paraphrase: "the defense and ST's couldn't be expected to show up against 2nd and 3rd stringers after blowing their collective wads the previous 7 weeks, but Bledsoe was supposed to magically transform into Favre in his prime." Sorry if I understated that in anyway. -

All I need to do is look at how Pete Kendall played last year with the Jets after getting cut by the Cards. Nuff said. -

You didn't expect the defense or ST's to play "perfect?" How about even just average? I don't think that ANY defense should give up 19 points to 2nd and 3rd stringers, much less the #2 defense in the NFL. And a kicker should make a 28-yarder and NOT give the opponent great field position on kickoffs, and a punt returner shouldn't fumble, again with the best ST's in the NFL, and at home. And what about the 5 runs by Willis for zero or negative yards? The horribly-timed penalties? The lack of a TE which was fine for the bad defenses the Bills played, but bit them in the ass against a GOOD defense like the Steelers? Like I said, it was a team loss and wasn't anymore Bledsoe's fault than anyone else on that team. And also like I said, I expected the Bills to make improvements on offense no matter WHO the QB was, and all I can hope is that JP can at least play at the same level Drew did what with the improvements, but that's far from a given. -

True. As evidenced by all that finger-pointing he does. -

I'm not here to defend ANYONE'S play in that game. I still get pissed off thinking about that wet-ass performance by EVERYONE. But what I don't get is how the #2 ranked defense and #1 ranked ST's who allegedly carried the team, get a pass despite choking against 2nd and 3rd stringers, but Bledsoe, who by all accounts is a crappy player who brought down the offense, was expected to ELEVATE his play and win the game by himself. I just doesn't make sense. -

Have no TE's, your kicker miss a 28-yarder, and the rest of the TEAM fail to show up as well? Good luck gameplanning THAT! -

Regardless of what Drew does with the offense, if the Cowboys' defense doesn't get MUCH better, that team isn't going anywhere. And of course Drew will be blamed for all of it. -

He was as magnificent as the defense and ST's. Again, as I've been saying. -

The counterpoint was Puhonix mentioning their sh------- play in the Pgh game. I guess they carried the team during that 7-game run, but couldn't cut it when they really needed to. Or was that just Drew? -

Yeah and lots of people do lots of ridicuous/stupid/unbelievable stuff: it doesn't make it right. Especially when you consider all the good that Drew (and Travis) did while he was here, which is what is beyond the comprehension of a lot of people, and is what I have a problem with. Drew got the Bills their 1st round pick they traded for him back by making Price look like a stud. He also helped the Bills attract a lot of good FA's who otherwise probably would have gone elsewhere without someone like him at the helm. Did he lead the Bills to the playoffs? No, but the blame goes FAR beyond just him, and that is probably why he felt blindsided by the decision to cut him and go with JP. Hell I don't hear anyone calling out Kelly for being drunk the morning of the SB's and failing to win even 1 in 4 of them, with a MUCH better offense, ST's, and a decent defense. -

Bettis at this stage of his career is a backup at best, VA. Where you pulled him from I have NO idea?! And as for "carrying the team into the playoffs," he hasn't done that since 2001, and played like shiite against the Pats in the AFCCG that year (not that he did much better against them this time around). As for A-Train, sorry VA but his 1183 yards and 7 TD's did NOT "carry [the Bears] into those playoffs." The guy hasn't broken 1,200 yards or 8 TD's, caught more than 24 passes, and hasn't put up back-to-back good seasons, and was considered a "cancer" WITHOUT having a highly-publicized 1st round RB drafted by his team. -
Except that you hit him once and he pops a lung. No thanks!

And best of all, when Travis is traded, we can all start talking about what a piece of sh-- HE was and how poorly he'll do. Oh joy! -
Yeah, "scat" would pretty much describe Dwight as a player now. He's worthless.

Travis is the best RB "available" on the market. What that entails is his team has a desire to trade him and would take a minimal cap hit doing so, and is the best player in terms of past production, draft pick compensation, and current salary. If you think these alleged other "available" RB's can come close to Henry in all those categories, you're kidding yourself. -

Drew Bledsoe signed by Dallas
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If a player is cut, he's a FA and can sign with anyone. When he's still got a contract, he's under contract until the start of the FA period, when he becomes an UFA.
