  1. They've done that trick for many years. Haven't heard about it recently though.
  2. Right now I might try Meredith. Wang's time is coming---probably after the bye-week.
  3. That's my "wishful thinking" thought as well, especially in the Bills case. I think there's some truth to it. It gets pretty bad in preseason when most starters don't play the last game, or two, save for maybe a series. That's a two plus week layoff and I think it affects the offense more than defense.
  4. Still a free-agent. If there are more WR injuries around the league he'll probably get a call.
  5. Yep, this is the year we were pegged as NEEDING a receiver with SIZE. Eleven receivers taken in RD#2 (none in RD#1) and the only real home-run picks were the smaller guys; DeSean Jackson, Eddie Royal, and Donnie Avery.
  6. Heck, look at Sam Bradford yesterday in his FIRST NFL game. Not very good but at least he's letting it fly! Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int Rating 32 55 253 58.2 4.6 2 13 1 3 53.1
  7. Yeah, I think that's the rap on Urbik--not quick enough on his feet. That lineup you have looks pretty good. Too bad the Bills weren't able to try that out during camp.
  8. Yeah, lets get the #1 pick so we can refuse to pay the guy $50 million guaranteed! I'm being sarcastic there. Who knows maybe a new agreement between owners and players will work out in favor of teams like the Bills in not having to pay top rookies that much. Back to the article. I'm not so sure I agree that hitting bottom is any sort of answer. In fact it felt like we hit bottom last year; ditching a starting OT and an offensive coordinator just before the season started, the number of players on IR, converting players from other positions to play LB, etc. That was a joke!
  9. Probably a bad fit for the Bills; a tackle that had been moved to guard and gets injured a lot. http://nfl-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/24422145
  10. The Steelers were also working out Urbik at center. Here's an interesting post too: "Urbik, the 79th overall pick in the 2009 draft, was slow to pick up blocking schemes in Pittsburgh, but fits Buffalo's system based on power potential. The Bills are currently light on the interior, especially at left guard." http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=nfl&id=5326
  11. I have to say that I am a bit surprised though. It sounded like Gailey wanted to work with Brown as a project. However, logic sets in and I can see the reason being that they Bills have three QB's, and Brohm will probably get a lot of work in that "scout" QB position. There's not enough work to go around for four QB's.
  12. According to KFFL they terminated the contracts of DE Marques Douglas & Charles Grant too.
  13. Nice. I liked Urbik coming out of college but he doesn't have much to show for his NFL career so far.
  14. I'd like to see more OL on the squad too but we just don't have them. A couple of these guys who made the 53 are on the bubble for the next few weeks. Nelson coming off suspension will trigger a release at some point, etc.
  15. A third round pick last year. Upgrade over Chambers? Maybe not, doesn't seem like he ever played for Pittsburgh. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/502442
  16. I'd love to find a replacement for Chambers, but I think he sticks for now. Ellison should be gone.
  17. 1.Keith Ellison-useless as an LB in the new scheme. But a good special teams player. Gotta keep Moats & Coleman. CUT 2.Chad Simpson-has looked good but with the top three plus Joique Bell. Tough decision. Bell might not make it to the PS. CUT 3.Derek Schouman-a perennial injury waiting to happen. Would love to see more from Foschi and Andrew George. Cut or keep until Nelson is back. 4.James Hardy-the injuries and the dropsies don't help his case. Paraphrasing Gil Brandt: "Better basketball player than football. Runs poor routes". SEE YA!!! CUT 5.John McCargo-has looked better this pre-season. How many more chances does he get? The four DE's will be Stroud, Carrington, Edwards, and Johnson. CUT 6.Reggie Corner-on the bubble? Really? 7.Naaman Roosevelt-has some upside, definite practice squad material, CUT 8.Cary Harris-unless he's a special teams ace, can't keep five safeties. CUT 9.Ryan Fitzpatrick & 10.Brian Brohm-Fitz is more equipped to be a #2, Brohm has more upside, if we had a salary cap Fitz would be gone. FLIP A COIN!
  18. Here's the OL that are left. I bolded what I think are the current starters or players that will definitely be retained on the 53-man. I think Cordaro Howard has a real shot to be the backup guard. Keeping Wang even though untested vs. Chambers. Thoughts on that? 75 Allen, Sean OL 6-3 305 22 R East Carolina 77 Bell, Demetrius OL 6-5 307 26 2 Northwestern State 73 Chambers, Kirk OL 6-7 315 31 6 Stanford 61 Gaddis, Christian OL 6-1 300 25 2 Villanova 74 Green, Cornell OL 6-6 315 34 9 Central Florida 63 Hangartner, Geoff OL 6-5 301 28 6 Texas A&M 79 Hennessey, Nick OL 6-5 291 24 1 Colgate 68 Howard, Cordaro OL 6-4 314 23 R Georgia Tech 67 Levitre, Andy OL 6-2 305 24 2 Oregon State 69 Meredith, Jamon OL 6-5 304 24 2 South Carolina 76 Ramsey, Andre OL 6-5 322 23 2 Ball State 71 Wang, Ed OL 6-5 301 23 R Virginia Tech 66 Watkins, Jason OL 6-6 325 25 1 Florida 70 Wood, Eric OL 6-4 315 24 2 Louisville
  19. I know they want to "keep" three but with the issues the defense has at LB, lackluster special teams play this pre-season, and the battles at WR, I think they release Fitz and Brown and try to get Brown on the PS. That will give them three but not on the active roster.
  20. It does make me wonder why they haven't done it already then. The Easley injury is a relatively short-term one and he's already on IR.
  21. Ed Wang. I mean, I really hope not. But can you put a guy on the 53 man roster who hasn't played in any games, let alone MOST of training camp?
  22. An interesting article. Hardy and Corto would not be surprising to me. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/article171431.ece
  23. Here's a link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp10/news/story?id=5493181
  24. His stats w/ the Bengals pretty much equal ALL FIVE of the TE's the Bills had last year. Sad. Hopefully we get lucky.
