  1. He’s never had that 3 year slump. The Steelers organization is very patient. Even Cowher had multiple seasons of missing playoffs but they stuff with him. The Steelers IMO are the ultimate franchise with how they handle coaches.
  2. Mike Tomlin hasn’t won a championship in 14 years. Should the Steelers have fired him? It’s such a flawed way of thinking. You don’t fire a head coach when he’s winning divisions and at least one playoff game. That’s just crazy expectations. Mcdermott would need to miss the playoffs or lose in the wildcard round to even start the discussion. Then he’s likely on the hot seat. So you’re talking at least 2 seasons of missing playoffs or losing in the wild card.
  3. No it doesn’t. He gets walked a lot but not to that extent. He’s a bad RT in pass protection but not to that extent.
  4. Good enough for what? If you’re winning divisions and a playoff game every year then yes that’s good enough to keep your job. It’s not the goal but you don’t reach your goal by destroying the team when you’re that close. The question is what’s to come if they can’t shake the dark cloud hanging over the franchise right now. They aren’t going 13-4. More likely 10-7. Again, if they do that and win a playoff game or more McDermott isn’t going anywhere. But it’s possible they do worse than that.
  5. LT? The Kelly Bills never took preseason seriously. But right now there is a cloud hanging over the Bills. Media and fans are ready to destroy them.
  6. $4.5 cap hit. They could’ve signed a lot of people to a first year cap hit of $4.5 million. No one could’ve predicted Hamlin would recover this well. But we talked about the possibility of Hamlin replacing Poyer or Hyde last year due to age, injury, and free agency.
  7. Well now Stephen A Smith is saying his sources say Diggs wants out of Buffalo. So when the Bills play bad this is going to happen all year. The media is ready to breakup the Bills. This is going to be a tough season. Hopefully they start fast. They look like an NHL team in need of a coaching change. Mentally they might be checked out.
  8. I guess I’ll post this here. Anyone remember Spencer Brown’s rookie season? I mean it was only a couple years ago. We had Daryl Williams playing well at RT. He’s an above average RT and was only 28-29 years old. The talk was Brown was so good he had to play so they moved a good RT inside to RG, a position he’s struggled at, because they felt Brown needed to be on the field. Brown went on to have a horrible rookie season overall with some moments of great run blocking. So I ask you this question. Why did the Bills do it? I know they had a much higher grade on Brown than his draft position. He didn’t play for over a year due to Covid. But did Brown have a great camp and preseason his rookie year? I don’t remember his rookie camp at all. Maybe because of Covid. A sprain is a tear. It was torn, just not a complete tear.
  9. I’m going to say it. I don’t see anything special in Shakir. I don’t get the hype.
  10. That’s what I’m not getting about the complaining. They literally drafted a an OG that looks the part. The free agent LG they signed looks the part. Their LT and center are respected around the league. I mean our only legitimate concern is RT, and he’s been our RT for 2 seasons and is a young athletic freak we’re developing. He’s very raw coming out of the draft. I get the complaints because the draft picks haven’t been plentiful early but people act like it’s the worst OL ever assembled and we’re in trouble. This is probably the best OL they’ve had during this run.
  11. I think all fans hate their OL except Philly. How is this possible?
  12. Cover 1 has a breakdown of Torrence up. One play that stood out was a play I felt Dawkins got beat on yesterday. The pass rusher nearly got Allen’s arm in a similar way that damaged his UCL last year. Well cover 1 points out that Allen’s drop was too far. Making it easy for the pass rusher. These are things the typical fan never sees. We think Dawkins got beat but the QB didn’t help.
  13. Hot take. I actually felt this was possible before the injury. Damar Hamlin is a starting safety in the NFL. Bills could’ve let Poyer walk.
  14. The question is can Ken Dorsey handle the offensive situations. It is interesting to see the Bills on offense taking penalties and McDermott flipping through his all 22 pictures getting ready for the next defensive series. This is going to be a major change.
  15. Not a whole lot to develop. Dawkins developed well as a 2nd rounder. Cody ford was a bust. Brown is trying to fix inconsistencies, we’ll see. Torrence too early. Thats about it for quality draft picks used on OL. Brown isn’t a complete disaster. At times he looks the part and other times he gets walked.
  16. I’m signing Von over pretty much everyone. Not even thinking twice. They could’ve upgrade the OGs last year and signed Von. Even if they drafted one like they did Torrence this year. Drafting an OT to compete with Brown would’ve been smart also. I do think the OL is upgraded though and it will show. We can’t really take anything from that Steelers game.
  17. Didn’t he load up his cart at Target with candy in his going to camp video? I really think he is.
  18. Steelers had a LT, LG, RG and a WR vs AJ Epenesa, Tyrel Dodson, and Matt Milano. Dane Jackson was 10 yards off the ball and retreated even more after the snap. Poona Ford and Tim Settle fall down. Poyer didn’t want to tackle. The Bills probably never call that defense in the regular season.
  19. I don’t know. I’ve been on teams where the coach take the practice film and smashed it after a bad practice. Other times he’d call out everyone in the film session. I don’t know how McDermott will handle it. I think they believe they have a veteran team and won’t really stress what happened other than the pre snap penalties.
  20. Preseason brings out the best in fans. Always.
  21. I don’t understand how he looks bigger now than when camp started? Bro hiding candy in his pillow case.
  22. Good OTs don’t grow on trees. You can’t just load up at OT. You kind of just have to get it right. If your guy can’t play then you find another one. Dawkins is showing signs of decline. He’s still a pretty much the same guy but there’s now some moments he’s beat clean in pass protection. Weight as he’s getting older might be a problem. I don’t know how they currently feel about Spencer Brown. Their actions say they love him. They moved an above average RT Daryl Williams inside to RG because they had to get Brown on the field as a rookie. He was terrible with small flashes of elite run blocking. Daryl Williams might still be our RT today if they never made that move. He’s retired now but who knows what happens. There are some similarities between Spencer Brown and Dawson Knox. Raw talent but very inconsistent early in their careers. Knox became more consistent and turned it into a new contract. We’ll see about Brown. Poyer stays taking bad angles. He does it all the time. Especially in the run game. Nothing new. He’ll be fine because it’s a passing league. I will say this though, Warren is a slow RB and dusted Poyer.
  23. Dawkins isn’t a problem. He’s not a top LT but he’s far from a problem. I do think as he’s getting older he has to keep his weight lower than it is. The time to fix RT was a long time ago. Peters can probably still be an upgrade but it’s the end of August, RT upgrades likely aren’t coming. I mentioned Kromer a few times this offseason. The OL as a unit wasn’t good. Some of it is on him.
  24. Our OL is actually very athletic testing wise. I think that point was made last night. They played a lot.
