  1. Yes, roughly eqivalent, however ....... assload is SAE where as a metric butt ton is ...... well ...... metric
  2. OOOOooooooooo I just had a sick thought ......... picture this ...... Kelly gets creamed all throughout the first half, finally geeting knocked out of the game with the Bills trailing by a few scores in the third quarter ....... instead of putting in JP they put in Mathews ........ and he has a career day bringing back the Bills for the late game win ....... This board can survive the Flutie/Johnson wars ....... the Willis/Travis discord was a mear bump in the road ........... but a Losman/Holcomb/Mathews screamfest will finish us for sure
  3. Interesting development ...... I would think there are lessons to be learned about "playing hurt" and "playing in pain", I know the board rails (as I do) everytime an NFL player mentions being a "warrior" or "going to war" with their team ......... but there is a lot to be said about that type of mentality within the locker room. Does this move lose what "respect" JP may have been developing (or trying to develop) with the vets on the team .... I can't imagine that many players on the team don't have their share of nicks and bruises and are playing through them without any mention. Vick is hurt, Brady is hurt, McNabb was half dead for gods sake ..... being hurt is part of playing in the NFL ..... the good ones play through it ..... the great ones don't even let it slow them down. It could also indicate the coaching staff is holding him out because there is no need to play him when he's hurt ..... and exactly how are they going to justify that with the other players limping around?
  4. The problem I see is that the draft IS a big crap shoot ....... if you strain your memory, it really wasn't that long ago that quite a few people were saying the same type of things about Willis. I know I know ...... Bush looks great .... man amoung boys ...... yada yada yada ... the fact is he hasn't done a single thing in the NFL ...... or behind a piss poor line for that matter .... Bush will NOT save this team ...... what we need is the same thing you have prescribed for the Texans ....... we need to upgrade our lines first and formost ....... and to replace our departing starters ..... who at this point looks like Adams and Moulds for sure, and possibily Clements, Williams, Anderson, Teague. Secondly we need to replace our entire line depth ...... pause for a moment and realize our "backups" aren't as good as the people we are screaming to get rid of. If I can't stomach Anderson, Teague, and Williams pass or run blocking .... I sure don't want the guys almost as good as them in there either. I say trade down ....... collect a metric butt ton of draft pics and replenish the lines, pick up a late round rb and QB to "groom" and let McNally (or who ever is the next line coach) start with a clean slate.
  5. How about .................... dead men walking OK ..... not a nickname out of our past, but I think we can now safely attach it to everybody from TD down to the most lowly position coach on this team.
  6. I agree ........ why would we want to disrupt the production of the finely oiled machine we call our O-line
  7. I think everyone knows that ....... the point I'm trying to make is ...... do you think the Pats would rather have Anderson than Tucker???? Do you think the Pats would rather convert one of their TEs to play the line rather than Tucker???? Now substitue the name Bills for Pats in the preceeding comments ....... and the answer is yes on both counts.
  8. Actually along those lines I wouldn't mind bringing back Dick LeBeau back .... IMHO Grey did well under his tutaledge, and I think he "kinda" gets it ... to the point that if Dick kept him in check our defense would (may) get better ..... but I'd dump the O-coordinator and promote Wyche.
  9. Oh .... Oh .... Oh .... Oh ..... I would ........ then of course I'd enjoy wearing a burlap thong too
  10. What the heck is up with that?????? Can't break into our rock solid O-line and has to settle for going to the Pats for the playoff run ......... the poor Pats must have run out of TEs to plug into the O-line
  11. How about Tom "tippy" Day ...... or Albert "Goldenwheels" Dubinion
  12. I must be getting a little gun shy .... Is this a no bull shitter?????? Excused because of illness, or personal reasons I can understand ..... if he's refusing to take the field, just to be a horses patoot ..... that's another matter.... I just can't believe it.
  13. I don't know about Albano for HC ........ he strikes me more of a front office guy .... now Albano for GM ...... that's an idea I can get behind ...... but nawwww ... I don't think he'd cut it as HC.
  14. Mike Williams ........ now hear me out ....... By not cutting him we don't waste dead cap money. He's just sitting on the bench, we are paying his travel expenses and his per diem to travel with the team anyway. He can contribute to the team just as well as a head coach as he can as a lineman. At our current pace we will be getting a new coach in two years anyway. He seems to be a real personable funny guy so atleast the post game press conferences will be entertaining.
  15. No ...... we agree on that point ..... Marv was and could be a great coach .... and as you say, with the coaches you've mentioned, he'd have a great staff. However, he still wouldn't have an offensive line, he'd only have half of a defensive line, he'd have a raw QB with only potential (certianly no "proven" production), he'd have a runningback who as much as not totally dissapears from the weapons list, he'd have a WR corps (if Moulds was released) with no proven #1 reciever, he'd have a defensive "star" (in Spikes) returning from an injury that we don't really know he can return from, he'd have an aging safety in Vincent. The point I was trying to make was I don't feel Marv can turn around this team overnight (the combined reincarnation of Lombardi, Brown, Allen and every other HoF coach wouldn't be able to either). I'm just saying it would be a losing proposition for Marv to come "home" and have a year or two of (what the fans would term) failure.
  16. Let me say this, about that ..... I like Marv, I really REALLY do. As a Bills fan I apprieciated what he did while he was our HC. But what he did then was then, and unfortunatly now is NOT then. I'm not saying he couldn't be a fine coach, he may be even able to recapture the lightning in a bottle that was the Bills of the 90s ..... BUT .... this team is in dire straights right now, we need a long term solution, we will not be fixed overnight. Marv can not rebuild this team next year, and probably not even the year after. IMHO he is smart enough to know that if he comes back, and we have another horrid year or two he'll be vilified. I would hazard a guess that he'd be much happier being known as the coach that won 4 straight division titles, than the coach that was run out of Buffalo after a few bad years because he couldn't win.
  17. It was not intended as a "bash" against Peters .... as a matter of fact just the oppisite, I think he very well may be the brightest highlite the bills can claim this season. What it IS a bash against however, is the rest of the O-linemen on our roster. The senario is ........ we have this handful of linemen collecting pay checks because the are professional linemen ........ when we need to plug in a replacement we have to turn to Peters ...... what I ment to say with my post ..... was if we can turn an undrafted (I mistakenly called him a 7th round pick) TE into a servicable (if not good) RT ..... why can't we turn one of our O-linemen into one and leave Peters to compete at the TE position. As far as Peters being a gifted physical athletic freak .... wouldn't it have been nice to have him playing TE ..... could you envision KC converting their TE into a RT because he is a gifted athlete ..... how about SD with Gates???? It's not like the Bills have such a productive TE that Peters couldn't crack into the line up at that position.
  18. But in reality what exactly IS the responsibility of the head coach??? IMHO ....... game planning, and ensuring the gameplan is properly exicuted, as well as making "adjustments" should probably be under the perview of the co-ordinators. "Teaching" the individule players should come under the perview of the position coaches. So what is left for the poor old head coach ........ (again in my opinion) he must have a "vision" of what the personality of the team is going to be and communicating that "vision" to the GM/scouting staff so they will be able to stock the roster with the type of player that will fit in to that vision. He must communicate with his co-ordinators so they can construct game plans that coincide with his vision. He must communicate to his players to convince them that by playing within his vision they can/will be sucessful. He must communicate to his players that they shouldn't get too high after an individual win, nor too low after an individual loss (with the exception of the Super Bowl of course). What I'm trying to say is the head coach is the captain of the ship ....... he isn't the guy steering the ship, but he IS responsible to make sure the guy that is steering knows which direction he wants to go. As far as all great coaches having great players ...... I think it may be a classic chicken and egg type of thing ......... do we consider a player "great" because he plays on a team with a lopsided number of wins on its record ......... if the Bills we undefeated at this point of the season wouldn't we be saying look at all of the "super stars" we have on this team ...... a young gun slinging QB with weapons of McGahee, Moulds, Evans ........ Clements, Fletcher, Spikes, Adams, Vincent, and McGee on Defense ..... how can we miss.
  19. I'm not sure that I'd go as far as say he'll PROBABLY surprise me ....... he MAY surprise me ...... I HOPE he surprises me ....... but at this point in his career there is just as good of a chance he'll be a bust as there is he'll be another Manning, Palmer, or Brees ........ with the highest probability that he will be something in between.
  20. Mysteries of One Bills Drive ....... Jason Peters playing RT... if we have to convert a 7th round TE to play RT does that mean all of our backup linemen on the roster will get cut this offseason?? Cutting Bledsoe and handing JP the starting job with no "plan B". Passing on Corey Simon. The whole Adams/Moulds things. Why the OC gets relieved of play calling duties .... with no significant change in the way we call our plays. Mike Williams sitting the bench ... if he's injured put him on IR .. if not, find a place for him .. if he's really THAT bad, inactivate him and give some backup a chance. Why can't we stop the run OR the pass. How can a team draft and play in the free agent market for five years and STILL not come up with a single O-lineman worth a damn. Where the heck did our Defense get the idea at the beginning of the season that they were so good? Where did Clements get the idea that he was a top 5 "shut down corner". Where the heck did Willis get the idea he was the best back in the NFL. These are just a few things that have me scratching my head this season ...... I'm sure ya'll can add more if you try
  21. any position along the O-line ...... we may have 5 players to man the positions (even THAT is debatable) but we have no one to build a line around. We need at least one DT, DE, CB, and safety, we could use a good RB (I'm still not sold on Mcgahee), and a QB (at least to develope behind JP), and a big physical WR. We have so many "needs" maybe the best use of that first round pick would be in "trade bait" ........ ofcourse we need a trading partner but we need bodies more than we need a high pick.
  22. It's sad to say ....... but IMHO ...... if we "blow up" the organization/team like it looks like we'll have to do ....... I don't think we'll be doing any significant winning in the near future. We're talking stripping the front office, which will probably cause the coaching staff to be decimated, in conjunction with ridding the team of overpaid/underachiving players. Pretty much building an O-line from scratch, major overhaul of the D-line, some significant "tweaking" to the CBs, looking for some safeties that can still play. Our QB is still a question mark (not dissing JP, just pointing out that there is just as big a chance that he'll be good as there is of him being bad) with no viable "plan B". I must admit I WAS sold on Willis ..... but am getting less and less "sold" on him as the season wears on. In my opinion ....... we need too many big changes all at once (some that will turn out to our advantage ..... some that won't) for this team to be a contender next year
  23. I think THAT is what pi$$e$ me off the most ........ after he's fired, ol' teflon Tom is going to become an analyst with ESPN telling the world what is wrong with the Bills .......... where in all reality ........ if he knew what the hell was wrong, why doesn't he fix it. He's going to get paid a heck of a lot of money and all he's going to do is move his lips until words come out, without any REAL cogent thought attached, and the "sports fans" will believe his tripe ..... because he is an ESPN "expert".
  24. IMHO ..... JP doing well or not, we still need to atleast look at drafting a QB. If I remember correctly, our #3 QB had to be talked out of retiring this year to stick around ..... so we may as well write him off .... he's not a long term solution .... as far as Kelly, I think he pretty much showed his limitations with his inability to throw a pass further than 2 yards downfield. Not to knock any of our QBs ...... but bottom line is we have a pretty raw starter who really hasn't shown anything consistant yet ...... a backup who has some big limitations (and can not be considered as our "future" if JP ultimatly fails), and a third stringer who would really rather be somewhere else. I don't mean to say we HAVE to draft a real high QB ..... but the team needs to keep it's eyes open.
