  1. I think he's in the same boat as Eric Wood. If an offense doesn't perform well, I don't think any members from that unit will get Probowl consideration. Once the team starts winning, and the offense is at least in the top half, then you'll start to hear buzz around certain players.
  2. There's no guarantee Pettine would've led the Bills to a better than 6-10 record, HOWEVER I'm quite sure he would've hired an experienced offensive coordinator, as well as a QB coach. Would this combination have led the Bills to a better offense and subsequently, a better record? There's absolutely no way of knowing...
  3. Not sure if I can speak for Reed83, but what I got from his posts, I think he was saying the coaches are responsible for putting these players in a position to excel. Sure, Aaron Williams played DB for the Bills last season, but Pettine was the one who had him at SS from day 1. Aaron Williams is not necessarily a new player, he's a holdover who was put in a better position to excel. Leodis was in the doghouse last season, a starter this season. Same player, same position, better scheme. It's true, players play the game, coaches coach, but if a coordinator doesn't know how to maximize the strengths, or skillsets of his men, then it doesn't matter who's out there on the field.
  4. Thanks, Ferg. I've told all who would listen that I want to become to the Bills what Drew Carey is to the Browns. Or what Jack Nicholson is to the Lakers. Can't do it alone though. And though it's only been a few hours since I've launched the campaign, staring at that $0 doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies...
  5. Hello all, I just launched a Kickstarter campaign for my short film. Wanted to reach out and encourage you guys to pledge! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jbrandon/after-death-the-festival-run You can watch a trailer of the film on the site. If any of you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, either through this post, or through a PM. There's someone here who can tell you if the film is worth pledging, but I won't reveal his identity, unless he chooses to come forward and speak under this topic Thanks everyone! -J
  6. Oooh, I love this idea and think it needs to be voted on by the player committee. If Goodell is going to render kickoffs ineffective, then the drive start should absolutely be moved up. Even starting on the 25 is better than the 20. But starting on the 30...? I think that's perfect and would allow for more kickoff strategy going forward.
  7. If Da'Rick Rogers goes on to become all world, I'll never forgive the cut. Not because he excelled with another team after being cut from Buffalo, but because he wasn't afforded much of an opportunity to fail. He was turning in big plays during training camp, but couldn't sniff the field in the preseason. Why? Marrone decided he wasn't even worth the roster spot to make it to final cutdowns. I'm wishing Da'Rick well, but not "too well" if you know what I mean.
  8. As many sacks as Thad took, I will give him credit for this: he picked up far more third and longs than EJ ever did. Mostly because he holds the ball and allowed for routes to develop down the field. EJ often seemed content to throw 3-4 yards on 3rd and 7+ rather quickly. This was even covered in the All 22 criticism of his play, diagnosing how many big plays and first downs EJ sacrificed in favor of getting the ball out quickly. He did mention that he learned a lot by watching Thad and his success, so I'm expecting/hoping he allows downfield routes to develop going forward.
  9. TTU used to be my stomping grounds. From the Red Raider games I've seen this year, Amaro sporadically tends to have the case of the dropsies. He'll make a tough catch and then drop an easy one. Can't remember the game (KSU?), but I remember him dropping THREE straight passes on ONE drive! If the inconsistency continues on the NFL level, don't be surprised if he never fulfills his potential.
  10. Sports and hyperactivity go well together; it's that "attention deficit" part that makes things a little hairy. We know Freeman has the capability to do it, as long as he's on his meds, but in a profession where details are of the utmost importance, a disorder such as this one doesn't lend itself well. Imagine if Peyton Manning had ADHD. Tom Brady? These guy wouldn't be carving up secondaries. ADHD reminds me of a classroom of 5 year olds.
  11. Freeman's issue is apparently ADHD. Not exactly what you want in a QB... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--roger-goodell-must-address-josh-freeman-mess-asap-214019540.html
  12. There's much more to the run defense besides Kyle and Marcel. True, they can shoulder some of the blame, but if those two are the biggest weaknesses in the front 7, then the Bills defense is an all time great.
  13. Sounds good in theory, but there's a problem: the Bills DID offer Jairus Byrd a long term contract. Even with his foot ailment. Byrd's camp balked, wanted to be the highest paid. If anything, Eugene Parker betrayed Byrd, not the Bills. Top 5 money was on the table, but Parker declined; told his client to hold out for more, when in reality, this was never an option. I feel Byrd will eventually sign a contract equal to what the Bills were offering, or if he's still chasing "highest paid safety in the NFL," he'll sign another one year deal elsewhere and try to prove himself all over again. Whichever way you slice it, Byrd's camp lost. He should fire Eugene Parker and thank the Bills for offering top 5 money for a player with a recurring, overuse injury.
  14. Wish probable cause exists in NYC! I'm only half kidding; it's supposed to be the letter of the law, but the NYPD does what the NYPD wants to do. I've never ever in my life experienced racial discrimination or racial profiling prior to moving to NYC; that includes 12 years of driving around various parts of Texas, Chicago, and Michigan. Had never been pulled over once. Not ONCE. The first 18 months that I was in this city, I was "randomly" pulled over 5 times. No doubt the Texas plates are a red flag to these cops, but I think the color of my skin has some say in that as well. I don't drink, smoke, or drive a flashy car, unless you consider a 1995 Toyota Camry that's in desperate need of a paint job, "flashy." In the 5 years I've been in this city, I've been stopped over 10 times. Wish I could say I was kidding here. Ask me how many times I've had to pay a ticket... What's worse, I've even been ordered out of the car, patted down like a criminal, and had my car searched as though I had just broken a law. Went online to see what I could do to the officers who treated me this way, but the general consensus/advice was to, "let it go." Probable cause? I'm going with "out of state plates and Black skin for $1000, Alex." I'm also inclined to believe the Florida plate was more of a factor than Nigel's tinted windows.

  16. I wonder what path Kelsay will take to the podium. I think he'll loop around the building first
  17. Although it'll be the bulk of the money, I'm not relying 100% on Kickstarter. I'll be investing in my future as well!
  18. Kickstarter takes 5%, leaving me with $617.50. I'l be throwing the little bit of money I have into the pot as well, so yes, I'll have enough to shoot the movie and ship copies of the script. No worries.
  19. 48 hours to go! Your pledge not only goes towards jump starting an acting/writing career, but there are also rewards for your generosity. Pledge today! I will not disappoint with this project...
  20. Hey Fez, that is correct. That project was MUCH more ambitious, so this time around, I decided to scale down the difficulty in hopes of actually getting something made and out there. The project I tried to start then, I expanded into a feature. It's an intertwining story like Crash/Pulp Fiction, but a comedy. Since Hollywood isn't generally interested in non-linear stories, that'll be a project I'll step to the plate with once I'm in a position to do so. For now, I'm only interested in getting this short created. Much less ambitious -- only 3 locations -- so it's completely doable. My only concern, my ONLY concern, is making sure the quality compares favorably to the stuff being entered into film festivals. I have no concern about the story's validity, or those who will come together to create this story. After being read/evaluated by many eyes -- including those who used to work as Hollywood readers -- it's ready for showtime! I should also add... someone might question, "yeah, but it's a measly six hundred bucks! Can't you get that from somewhere?" to that I'd respond, "I am 'struggling artist' personified and definitely have a tale to tell about perseverance once I make it." To give you a hint... I believe Tyler Perry spent 3 months homeless, living out of his car prior to rising to fame. Well, I've got that beat with a baseball bat. I don't want that statement to come off as "proud," it's just the cards I've been dealt in this life. In many ways, I parallel the Bills!
  21. Thanks for the interest, guys. No, definitely not directing! I have a talented guy lined up who I worked with in a 24 hr play festival. Young dude, but instincts are on point. Believed he trained at LAMDA and compared the script to Sidney Lumet's hard boiled works. I am just the writer, but will be playing a role in the film. We have the creative talent lined up, but need to find a DP who has his own sound mixer. Film quality will be paramount for acceptance in the film festivals. I can vouch for my acting skills, the acting of the other two individuals, as well as the director. When this gets made, it has great potential to turn heads! Please consider backing. It's about time we have another Bills fan in the limelight. I will be to the Bills what Spike Lee is to the Knicks, only less annoying, haha. But in all seriousness, take a look, pledge with confidence, and if you know of any others who might be interested in helping to launch a career, send them over as well. Thank you! -Jai Brandon
  22. Hello Bills nation! I'm trying to raise funds for my short film on Kickstarter. Click the link for details and help out if you can... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jbrandon/after-death-0 This is an "all or nothing" endeavor, meaning if you pledge and the goal isn't met, no money exchanges hands. With that said, let's think positive, and pledge with the assumption we're going to make it! Trying to accomplish a dream without money to spare is always a little difficult Every little bit helps. Even if you can only contribute $5. Thank you all for taking a look! If I reach the goal, hopefully this will be the start of big things to come. Now back to your regularly scheduled FA period... -JB
  23. I do get that J.D. Booty, Mark Sanchez, Rob Johnson, or any other failed USC QB, doesn't mean that Matt Barkley will fail as well. They're all different people. However, some of these scouts do lump the failures of the past with the present, fair or not.
  24. I think ARZ put out a Barkley smokescreen to protect against Buffalo swapping picks with Cleveland to select Geno. No way do I think they go with another USC QB after missing on Leinart. Then again, these are the ARZ Cardinals we're talking about...
